you can cherry pick portions of a season...or portions of a career all you like to support an argument or position on things...but overall...has done not a heck of a lot...and yeah other than his what appears to be anomaly season in 2018 Since 2016 Masoli has thrown for 12 657 yards with 67 TD's to 42 Int's Nichols thrown for 13 420 yards with 79 TD's to 35 Int's both guys played 60 games...which stats would indicate a superior QB?..And how has Matt thrown for a piddly amount when he has more yards than Masoli..but again, we seen all year that yards thrown doesn't equate to wins..so Masoli's 300+ yard games equated to 9 td's vs 7 int's....I'll take Matt's 15 tds's to 3 Int's and 200 yards a game to what Masoli's big numbers netted on the score board.. Failing also to mention those 300+ yard high risk games were against T.O at beginning of the season and the back to back spankings of MTL in games 3 and 4 when they were putrid...both teams were putrid...but against Sask..Cgy and Winnipeg he threw for 169 yards..192 yards and 59 yards (though he got hurt) with 3 TD's and 2 Int's...6 points -

We ended up 3-15 in 2013... Alex Hall's contract was done at the end of 2013 and it was WIDELY expected that he would get an NFL try (which he did and spent the 2014 season in the NFL). We gave up nothing sending Alex Hall to SSK. 2nd rounder for a 5th rounder swap for a solid starting NATL Guard... That is one hell of a deal.5 points -
Hard to say but almost sounds like a guy weighing whats best for him to win, and be safe, and be in a good environment, as well as having wifes input in perhaps thinking more of self preservation now, as opposed to convenience, as they said been in some bad situations previous and look to avoid Amazing what a solid organization from top to bottom will do, as well as chance of winning, and obviously as from his mouth itself the fact we have a dominant and strong o-line which he loved playing behind and sees that as a reason to stay safe and possibly injury free...and really if he is used in same way as he was with Strev he's less likely to take that one shot that could KO him...his rep load alone at being 50-60 percent of norm could do wonders for him in terms of cumulative hits over course of season, and I think Strev would learn a lot more, and develop a lot better watching and playing behind/with Collaros...will be interesting to see how this shakes out5 points

Mechanics are not terrible..he is an arm thrower, or what is refereed to in Draft profiles/classifications as unorthodox..but isn't viewed as a flaw or negative mark. Watch Phillip Rivers as an example..same mechanics and an 18 year vet with no arm issues over career and very successful. Strevelers report was a strong arm with a quick trigger and ball is gone with a flick of the wrist with steam/heat. He needed work on his platform..which has gotten way better, because his un-even footwork caused uncoordinated throwing at times, but still he was able to get ball away in a hurry and with power. Was also viewed as a QB who hits a receiver's catch radius accurately and timely and gives his receivers a chance to win the ball and has plenty of distance on deep throws but is hit and miss...but that (hit and miss) can be said about any QB. But with work on his set-up and footwork it can/will improve...we have seen that already. Also from my work at camps, we have improved QB's deep ball accuracy and downfield power with correcting footwork and improving their platform...so if we can do it with guys preparing for combines and drafts, it can be done with a Pro..he hasn't had the 10 years of QB training like most college graduates...so he is progressing on the fly as a pro Was viewed as a terrific pro RPO prospect just needed quality coaching and a program to show patience for a couple of seasons, (something being done here right now) as his athleticism and lightening release will create a winner, and a team should fit his style into there system...interestingly enough a lot of his pre-draft analysis seems to be coming to fruition and I bet next year, he makes a huge step forward. At minnesotta he played some qb..total attempts in 2 years was 11 as well as RB, TE and WR...but when he switche to South Dakota, in his final season was 316 for 481 for 4134 yards (a 8.6 td per attempt avg) for 32 TD's and 8 INT's...surely a passing QB considering he also had 720 yards on the ground for 11 more scores..a run first/only QB with an inferior arm doesn't put up those kind of numbers...And as his scouting report says..team that puts in the patience and coaching...will be rewarded...no point in giving up on that now4 points -

People tend to forget that Streveler also had almost 800 rushing yards as while... he was what, 6th or 7th in total the in the league? Like it was said above, once Lapo found out what kind of runner 17 could be that became his role... nichols on the other hand has potential but tends to rely way too heavily on limited number of what he considers trusted targets and the check down... Lapo only compounded this problem with his play calling and the way he used receivers. also, Nichols isn’t a very accurate thrower despite his Completion percentage... Nichols throws a lot of balls high, low, or wide which really kills the chance of yards after the catch... sure, they are within the receivers catch radius but not a good ball that could allow a receiver to advance often.... also, while not his fault, look at how many throws are to a receiver that is stationary or running a version of a come back... again, significantly reduces the chance of YAC... I’m on the road right now but I’ve got some interesting info to continue my point when I get back to the house... can’t stand posting from my phone, lol...3 points -
That's the thing..he was showing and doing well as a typical QB when we first had to play him..but when his run abilities were discovered..well we changed our use of him..put him back to being a QB..but one who "can" run...lookout3 points

If given a choice been Zack and Matt, it’s Zack all day long. Either way Streveler should also be signed. But we won’t win a cup wirh him as starter. But he’s a warrior and appears to be the heart and soul of the team. So it should be him and one of the other guys. Preferably Zack.3 points -

This is a point often overlooked. I mentioned it several times in this thread. Elements of the fbi WERE biased. They DID leak. But it was to hurt Hilary. they forced Comey to make that stupid statement about hilary’s emails that arguably have the election to trump. And Rudy knew about it. The only “scum” in the fbi helped trump3 points -

2011 was my first year as a season ticket holder so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. That said... I much prefer the blue collar, grind it out, shut-up-and-play style of D we fielded for the 2019 playoffs. It was ruthless and majestic at the same time. What I find interesting between the two teams is the difference down the stretch... 2011 got off to a torrid start (7-1), but never could rekindle that magic. They won the East, so getting into the Grey Cup wasn't particularly difficult (first round bye, had to win 1 game against a 0.500 Tabbies team). 2019 also got off to a great start (5-0), faced even more adversity (lost our starting QB) but pulled it together down the stretch instead of fading away. The 2019 squad certainly took the road less traveled... and did so in glorious underdog fashion.3 points -
There are many reasons to like ZC ahead of MN, but it is ridiculous to suggest that he is less of an injury risk than quite frankly anyone. ZC has a concussion history that would have retired most players already. Love his play, but let's not minimize the risk to signing him. If we sign him we better have a very solid backup plan because the chances of him lasting the season are remote.3 points

I proudly wore my Swaggerville shirt every week that year. It was a very fun year - an oasis in a dessert of horrible years. It was flanked by Doug Berry's unceremonial ousting after a terribly diappointing 2008, the Mike Kelly fiasco of 2009, and the 4-14 Lapo/Mack rookie campaign, and was followed up by an even more disappointing 2012 that saw Lapo unceremoniously shown the door, the most disastrous year in Bomber history that I know of (to christen a new stadium, to boot) in Burke's 2013 year, and O'Shea's extremely forgettable first two years here with Drew Willy and no stinkin' playoffs. I don't understand the flack that the 2011 group got for bringing a little fun to what was otherwise a very dark cloud over the franchise. These years encompassed most of my fandom, too.3 points -

Regardless of what we as individuals think of Masoli, he's much more highly regarded as a QB than Nichols is. And if you're going by what they've accomplished over their careers to this point, Collaros has a Grey Cup and an MOP with similar to slightly better numbers than Nichols. By either definition Nichols is cleraly not the most "established" QB on the market.3 points

ZC showed that he can take a hit while playing with us.... Nichols can barely get touched without looking crippled these days.2 points -
I actually thought this year he looked better...was moving around in pocket and changing his launch points...a couple early TD strikes were a direct result of him moving out of pressure Non-contact injury this year is false though..having a D-Lineman come down on you full force with arm in a bad position taking full force is what did him in...what it did who knows, but I think it was some kind of dislocation with a tear somewhere I think too...regardless of who we sign we will be paying between 550k to 750k for our QB's...what order they play on depth chart, or who is the starter I don't care..whoever is giving us the best chance in each game to win is all that matters...the money will still be paid regardless Tho Strev has to be part of that mix2 points
-
was comparing 2016 to their games played in 2019...which equaled the same amount oddly...either way tho...both would only be a starter this coming yr I think...so most likely best bet is to stick with familiarity (if Nichols is healed) and work Strev more into things with an actual normal package of plays..2 points

It was the Harley Race camp that got Kenny discovered by WWE. He used to have a yearly camp that included NOAH (Japan) scouts and WWE usually sent someone as well. It was a bit of a work because there was a cost for indy guys to do it and they'd separate the talent into two groups (Advanced & Beginners). The indie guys would all be put in beginners and Race's guys into advanced so they got more heavily scouted. So Kenny goes down there and is put in the beginners group. Trevor Murdoch, a Race guy, sees this and tells Kenny to go into the advanced class. Johnny Ace was there and immediately offered Kenny a WWE try out. He was flown to Georgia for the try out and signed right after. As I recall, Johnny Ace said Kenny reminded him of Brian Pillman. Kenny does a great Race impression.2 points -

This stance confuses me... Masoli goes 4-1 with three 300+ yard high risk games and then was literally destroying our D when he got injured - and is one season away from 5000+ yards... but he's pedestrian while Matt Nichols throws for piddly but safe yards... is one season away from an 18:13 TD-INT ratio... is now on his 4th or 5th major injury - yet he's still a legit option I totally agree about the June Jones thing - but obviously any team signing him would understand that as well... he's not going to step into Lapo's system and succeed immediately2 points -

I don't know when the definition of "established" changed to solely mean "who's been around longer". Even if you leave Masoli out of the equation, Collaros has been around essentially as long and has objectively had far more success in the CFL than Nichols has.2 points

I think 2011 is only better if you cherry pick the first 8 games of the season. Everything went off the rails after that point.2 points -
Established means who's been around longer... Who's been a starter longer. It doesn't mean "who's been established in my mind as the better player..." I vehemently disagree that Masoli is held in higher regard than Nichols by anyone who matters...2 points

This. You absolutely have to have ONE of the 2 vets. I prefer Nichols, personally, but with the condition that he's at least as healthy as he was prior to injury. I'm still not convinced that Collaros can last 18 games, and while Nichols has his issues too, I think Collaros is the bigger injury risk.2 points
