  5. Hecht being replaced was a huge upgrade...he was such a liability out there in coverages. The two guys we are losing will hurt, but we could have a TC surprise, plus there are a whack of good DB's available who would prob love to come here and play. Personally I would look to target Ciante Evans as a Rose replacement, and prob will cost us about the same price, Even Jonathon Rose outta Ottawa would be a decent replacement at a cheaper price tag. Mincey as well is available and one I would look at if I was Walters at the HB spot, as well as Dozier in BC...he'd be the perfect replacement for Alexander at safety (if our ratio can allow it) and a backfield of one of Evans/J.Rose and Mike Jones on the corners with Alexander and Mincey at the Half's would not be too shabby in the least..Plus we may still have Taylor in the mix, and though he is over 30 now hasn't lost a step yet and played well...plus consistency is important too while we fine tune the backfield, much like we did this year

  7. Thought I would resurrect this post in light of the win, and having had time to soak it in and get over the pure reactionary emotion of each game. So with a new decade upon us and over a month of reflection on our amazing playoff run, I am wondering (a) if any of the 3 playoff wins this year have now become THAT ONE WIN (answer, very likely), and more curiously, (b) which game is THAT game? Winning the WSF in Calgary the way we did felt the most like slaying the dragon and getting the revenge win (down at the half, we flip a switch and just light it up offensively while completely dominating defensively against the team who had dominated us all decade long - call back to the 1970's-80's vibe against the Eskies). This was the most unexpected win of the 3 in my mind, so does that make it more special than either of the other 2, because it gave us real hope? The WF in Sask. of course is huge because of the rivalry, because of how tough is has been to win there on Labour Day (although for some reason it hasn't carried over to other games there), because it got us in to the Cup, and the last 3 minutes were so insane the game gets elevated into "instant classic" status. I was in the stands for that one (best road trip decision of my life), and being there in person certainly raises the bar of "best game ever" for me. But maybe their most poorly played game of the 3. And then there is the Grey Cup itself, going in as underdogs to a dominant 15-3 team and laying waste to them. Funny that the blowout almost (ALMOST) seems to diminish the "best game ever" vibe because there was no roller coaster of emotions and then that explosion of joy when we grab it at the end. The outcome looking back was decided in the first half for sure. But it's the big dance, so that alone elevates its status. Just a methodical beat down. And I've talked to a few people about this game, and one thing that struck me was their feeling as the clock wore down. One feeling that I shared. I was hosting a Grey Cup party, and after the called back Bailey TD which became a FG, I still felt that was the (anti-climactic) nail in the coffin, and my guests asked why I was being so quiet and not cheering madly as the clock ran out. I remarked that at this point, the weight of 29 years, and more so that simple number being pounded into our heads all the time left me more relieved than elated. A friend later said he had the same reaction, and said that he never realized how much of that losing streak he carried with him over that time and how much it wore him down, to the point that finally winning was more like the end of grieving instead of a celebration. All this to say that the Grey Cup win felt less dramatic and exhilarating to me (in the immediate aftermath) than either of the other 2, even if it was the most important of the wins. So which of the 3 games ranks as your best Bomber win, given some time to digest it all?

  9. Organization is all in on Evans. He won't lose starting job unless he has the worst camp of his life and Masoli , if hes even there, vice versa, in other words, improbable. Reg season? Wheels would have to come completely off multiple times and Masoli will have to be demonstrably better, again, I don't know how realistic a scenario that is. Masoli parked his career for a season in the primo parking spot. Facing out, close to the door, easy out...whole issue starts all over again late 2020....if he isn't traded by then.

was intrigued by the Dark Order at first but Lucha Underground did stories like that like a million times better. Let me know when the leader of the Dark Order kills the house band, makes a throne of their skulls, and presides over the ring like Thulsa Doom while Cody cowers in an undisclosed location. ****, I miss Lucha Underground.

If everyone except Evans played well Evans' brand would have taken a hit for sure. But the GC loss was a group effort. No way in hell Masoli makes any sort of difference.

  17. No I sure we wont stand pat..Mike Jones has emerged and can easily replace one or other..also Alexander can play either spot too..if we flip the safety back to a National spot (not named Hecht) Rios as well has great potential and tho exposed a bit late in yr that was more due to inexperience and the fact our safety at the time couldn't cut it. Not too worried about the defensive back losses to be honest...it sucks but that's the business...

  18. You guys are in a great situation... Dane is a really good QB, of he continues his growth, he will be in the elite group of QBs. The only time he lost his poise and looked flustered all season was in the Grey Cup - the fact he never had anytime to in pocket was probably the reason. But other than that game where we dominated the LoS, Dane has looked really good. Having Masoli healing up and ready for the second half push and into the Play offs will be great for the Ticats. I don't see a trade at all for Masoli, the only way that happens is if the Ticats don't make the Play offs... And I don't foresee that happening, i am fully expecting to see the ticats in the GC. If we aren't in the GC, I am totally rooting for the Ticats.

  19. All 3 games were important for me. For different reasons as all the games told a different story. The Semi Final: Going into a Bomber wasteland called McMahon Stadium & beating the highly favoured Stamps in a playoff game there for the first time since 1965. First skeleton kicked out of the closet. Defeating the Riders in their House in the Western Final to avenge the 1972 Western Final loss to that team & have the ball hit the crossbar in the end zone on the last play of the game was as flukey as the Riders winning in 1972 at Winnipeg Stadium with their last play wide FG attempt being kicked in & out of the end zone 3 times, only for the Bombers to be called for No Yards allowing Riders kicker jack Abendschan a second chance 15 yards closer to make the kick, for us to lose &leaving me to agonize over that game for 47 years. Second skeleton chucked out of the closet. Then to dominate the Ti Cats the way we did unexpectedly so we could finally feel the joy of winning Lord Earl Grey's Cup for the first time in 29 years. Third & final skeleton tossed out. The Curse was finally expunged. All 3 hold as much importance for me. It was a magical run...

Or have them attack people weekly (or every other week) so when they do come out on a big team, there is more of a bigger feel to it. I was mostly angry that they sacrificed the elite for it. It almost worked for them to have last week off...I think this show felt like a re-set.

I'm definitely in the minority but I didn't entirely hate the Dark Order takeover segment. At least the idea of it. Like if you just think about it without thinking about how it actually went down. The visual of this massive group of identical characters swarming wrestlers and overwhelming them is pretty cool. It's like something out of Batman. But somewhere along the line, the execution failed (those horrid punches and keeping the camera on them didn't help). Overall I'm ok with trying something you think might be cool, seeing it fail and moving on. Better than planning something you KNOW will suck and then spending 4 weeks cramming down people's throats and trying to make it work.

  27. The actual Grey Cup victory takes it for me - if I'm forced to choose, anyway. Underdogs against the league's crème de la crème... Windication for Harris, a defensive performance for the ages, and a mission accomplished. Pure and utter elation and a drought-vanquishing celebration. In all honesty, though, all three games were just wildly entertaining in their own right, making up a playoff run the likes of which I've never seen. And all on the road, no less. Indeed, it was a November to remember.

and as fortunate as they were last year, and they really did have a lot of good fortune, it really was the worst of all possible years with their biggest nightmare coming true just when it seemed that it all was going to work out in their favour. The nightmare was cataclysmic and included losing at home in the playoffs in dramatic style, losing to us, their arch nemesis, and then having to sit and watch us win it all. You just know they were writhing in agony over there having gone from finishing in first in the West and daring to believe they were the best team in the CFL to being crushed mercilessly again and again and again. I almost feel sorry for them, kinda like the fly that has it's wings torn off. I'm sure death would have been preferable for many of them compared to watching us celebrate the Grey Cup victory by whipping a 15-3 team.

  34. 2010 until present. 10 Grey Cups over the decade. 9 teams. Pretty even over the years. The results? Calgary - 132-46-2 record (74%) 2 Grey CupsTeam of the decade?Calgary appeared in the playoffs every year of the decade. They contested the Grey Cup on five occasions, winning it twice in 2014 & 2018.They appeared in the playoffs ten times and went 10-7 in playoff games.Edmonton - 94-86. (52%) 1 Grey CupThey appeared in the playoffs on seven occasions. Those post-season sojourns saw the Esks go 7-6.BC - they went 92-88 (51%) 1 Grey Cupand appeared in the playoffs on eight occasions. They will hope the next decade sees them improve on their 3-7 playoff record over that period.Hamilton - 88-92. (49%) During that run they appeared in the playoffs on 8 occasions. Hamilton’s post-season record over the decade was 7-8. Saskatchewan - 87-93. (48%) 1 Grey CupThey appeared in the playoffs on seven occasions and went 6-6 in those games.Montreal - 81-99 (45%) 1 Grey Cupand appeared in the playoffs on six occasions. They went 3-5 in those playoff games. The low point was not making the playoffs from 2015-2018 and going 3-15 in 2017.Winnipeg - 79-101. (44%) 1 Glorious Grey CupWhilst they have had some down seasons, Blue Bomber faithful will have enjoyed the consistency they have shown since 2016 in going 44-28 and finally winning the big one.Winnipeg appeared in the playoffs 5 times in the 2010’s (4 of those 5 appearances coming in the last 4 years). During that time they have held a playoff record of 5-4.Toronto - they went 75-105. (42%) 2 Grey Cups(Going 4-14 in back to back seasons in 2018 & 2019 really hurt those numbers). The Boatmen appeared in the playoffs on five occasions and went 6-3 in those games.Ottawa - The REDBLACKS only started playing in 2014. However following a 2-16 expansion season they went on a remarkable run.Between 2015 and 2018 the REDBLACKS made the playoffs every year, contested the Grey Cup on three occasions and won it all in 2016.Since 2014 Ottawa have compiled a 44-62-2 (42%) record. Poor seasons in 2014 & 2019 have badly affected those numbers.Legwork done by:http://ninetynineyards.com/2019/12/24/a-cfl-team-by-team-decade-review-2010-2019/ Editing done by: 10ant

    2019-20 CFL Offseason

At the time of the injury, Masoli was the best qb in the CFL. Why would he be expected or be happy to be #2 in Hamilton? I believe that Masoli wasn't signed to be the backup. He was signed to start. Perhaps Ti Cat coaches & management weren't happy with Evans after the Grey Cup game as he looked to be in a huge snit the more hits & sacks he took. He was yelling at his blockers & his body language was terrible. I remember Jim Barker trying to calm Evans down on the sidelines. Mentally he had checked out of the Grey Cup game by the third quarter. Perhaps Steinhauer felt Evans needs another year to watch & learn how to remain calm & handle pressure? Just speculating here.

Nope. Evans is still making relative backup money. Masoli's return date is an open question so no cap impact. Question here won't be money it'll the usual qb controversy type stuff. Risk of injury is always there but there's no reason to think the wheels will suddenly fall off from Evans. Masoli watching Evans all year with the odd third and short wrinkle followed by the same off season questions of where Masoli will end up is what I expect in 2020.

We won this year, not because of a powerful offence, but because Collaros was a perfect fit and played his best football, but the defence was totally dominant. We cannot realistically expect that to come together so well again. We need a better, more unpredictable offence in the new year. If that means a new QB, so be it, but I am happy that LaPolice is gone.

  47. Overall it was good. Not great. A few stretches of very good. I was completely surprised by Rey being a Palpatine. I feel so dense that I didn't see it coming. But, it was totally the right move. Mirrored Luke with Vader. I feel very happy with this outcome to her heritage. Palps was meh. The whole idea of a secret fleet was done in some of the books and is a good one but they never address how they would populate the millions of soldiers and crew it would take to actually staff it. Also, the ship yards.
