That ONE win.....that ONE loss

All 3 games were important for me. For different reasons as all the games told a different story. The Semi Final: Going into a Bomber wasteland called McMahon Stadium & beating the highly favoured Stamps in a playoff game there for the first time since 1965. First skeleton kicked out of the closet. Defeating the Riders in their House in the Western Final to avenge the 1972 Western Final loss to that team & have the ball hit the crossbar in the end zone on the last play of the game was as flukey as the Riders winning in 1972 at Winnipeg Stadium with their last play wide FG attempt being kicked in & out of the end zone 3 times, only for the Bombers to be called for No Yards allowing Riders kicker jack Abendschan a second chance 15 yards closer to make the kick, for us to lose &leaving me to agonize over that game for 47 years. Second skeleton chucked out of the closet. Then to dominate the Ti Cats the way we did unexpectedly so we could finally feel the joy of winning Lord Earl Grey's Cup for the first time in 29 years. Third & final skeleton tossed out. The Curse was finally expunged. All 3 hold as much importance for me. It was a magical run...7 points -

Kelowna is one of the most beautiful places to live in. It has everything one could need or want. Great climate, beautiful scenery and hardly any wind. You know, most people figure Windsor is associated with salt. I think the hint is in the first 4 letters of the name. It’s windier here. I don’t think it rivals Winnipeg for wind, but.... The climates are similar but Windsor has more humidity. Going from Winnipeg to Kelowna was an experience and moving to Windsor topped that. Windsor is bigger and more spread out so there is more car travel but I’m getting used to it now. Windsor is the most southerly part of Canada and is actually more south than Detroit, our neighbour. It’s weird. But at least I got to see the Jets play the Red Wings and the Eastern final between Hamilton and Edmonton. So far, so good..5 points

Stamps get a 3rd rounder to talk with Arbuckle. They get another pick if Arbuckle signs, which I expect he will. Arbuckle wasn't staying in Calgary anyway so Huffer got what he could from Ottawa. It surprises me that Ottawa is willing to go with another mostly unproven QB after what happened to them last year. It also surprises me that PLAP, whose had both Nichols and Collaros run his offence, would rather go with Arbuckle. Question is back to Nichols or Collaros for us and for Toronto.4 points

Love how you describe each win as being the other team losing versus the Bombers winning. This might shock you but the reason the Bombers won both games against Calgary was because they were the better team. The goal post wasn't the only reason that that Saskatchewan lost and if by the end of the 3rd quarter of the Grey Cup you had any doubts, then I have to question whether you were actually paying attention at all. Here's the thing, you can actually start believing that the Bombers are good, really good, and not just lucky.4 points -
Beating Calgary in Winnipeg to end the regular season. I said to 17to85 immediately after "I don't know how we're gonna do it, but I just know we're gonna do it..." I just had this overwhelming feeling that nothing was going to stop us.4 points

Med's likes it here..wants to win and is a true teamate...so re-structuring to keep prominent pieces, or to get a new piece is something he'd do...It's something him and Bryant have done previously here before as well to help the team,3 points -

I think we have already been slam-pondering about the QB situation even before trading for Collaros. Ottawa sends a draft pick to Calgary for the right to talk with Arbuckle. Sound familiar? While we sit here and fret over our non-nickel plated QB, who knows the health of both Nichols and Streveler. All’s I know is we have to keep Streveler in the fold. Nichols will heal. Will he be effective? Who knows, but how many thought Fajardo would be so effective. Announcements will be coming faster and faster, but first....announce our OC. If it’s Buck, then they already have a good handle on it. If it’s not Buck, well then, the sky is falling, the sky is falling3 points

On our way to the Eastern Final in Hamilton we visited Niagara Falls and of course, I took a bunch of pictures. What’s weird is that the pictures I took of the Canadian side were beautiful colour pictures, while the American side was black and white. This is almost true.. 😃3 points

Why was he ever there then? Was he the very best we could do at the time, or what? Hecht playing safety for us for most of the season reminded me of Hurl playing MLB for us the entire season he was here. Just painfully, brutally, obviously a crap player that didn't belong here yet there he was. I don't know what changed to finally cause Hecht to be relieved of his duties but thank God he was. We don't win squat with him as our safety.3 points

When we won the WSF I kept thinking about that time Bo said "We're going to show the Bombers who they are". Well, we showed Calgary who they were that game, an inferior team. I agree that winning that game gave us the confidence to believe we could beat anyone. For some reason, I knew we were going to win against the Riders. I agreed with many here that Sask had been lucky to find themselves hosting the West Final. As it turned out, this was the closest game of the three and it went right down to the last seconds but I wasn't surprised we won. We were the better team. Beating Hamilton in such convincing fashion was a surprise. I was expecting a much closer game and even though we won handily the score actually flattered Hamilton. We were completely dominant. Like you, I was more relieved than ecstatic to win the Grey Cup. You're right, those 29 years weighed heavy on me and to feel that weight come off the shoulders was cathartic and emotional. I felt as though the team had won just for me, for me and all the long suffering fans. Seeing Wade Miller and Richie Hall in tears was touching. I had the water works going myself. The Grey Cup win was my best Bomber win. Nothing tops winning a championship and to do it against a 15-3 team was spectacular.3 points

If we can easily replace Canadian starters..and top notch ones at that I have no worries with DB's as we may have some options in house already, and there is some nice talent that will be available Also players talk and the chance to play for Oshea..and as well learn from Younger and you can bet that has been communicated between players on the Bombers to the guys in league they know to tell them as Willie put it "come on down to Winnipeg"3 points -

Scoring a TD there still wasn't securing the win either, it would have setup the extra point to tie and go to overtime, so there was still plenty of ball to be played even if they did score. Everyone keeps making it seem like Sask would have won on that play, but the game still wouldn't have been over.2 points -

The entire 2019 playoffs were a revelation, albeit stressful. We beat the Stamps- great, but Bo-Levi was not good, then we beat the Riders on their turf, thanks in no small part to Fajardo hitting the goalpost with an errant pass, but that was so close a win that I was afraid what would happen against what had been a powerful TiCat team. And then the Grey Cup came. Although the Bombers were never in any danger of losing, I hard a a very hard time believing that they could be so dominant against a 15 & 3 team. I kept waiting for the 'Cats to rally and make a comeback but they just never got untracked. Gonna remember this for a long, long time.2 points -
My first time there I found it odd to hear the gun shots coming across the river from Detroit. Had a Detroit cop give us directions back to the bridge once and he told us not to stop because we were in the wrong neighbourhood. Detroit is not a good place. BTW, with apologies to Steve Perry, there is no such place as "South Detroit" unless he actually meant Windsor. LOL!2 points

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
wbbfan and one other reacted to The Unknown Poster for a topic
Really good thread on the lawsuit with speculation it could become a class action The basic gist being that the pension fund suing (they own a very small number of shares) is challenging how separate XFL is from WWE and how much work WWE is doing for XFL, feeling the work is not being charged at fair market value. Vince's employment contract also prohibits him from working in competing businesses and pro sports is listed as one of the competitors he is barred from working. The BOD amended his contract to specify the XFL as not being competition, which the pension fund disputes. XFL had a big drag on WWE the first time around and these shareholders dont want it to this time. I cant see it going very far but WWE certainly isnt cooperating in providing info2 points -

Exactly. I’m having a little trouble with directions here. Detroit should not be north of Windsor..It’s like Duron Carter being Captain of your football team. Just weird.2 points -

Thought for sure that Nichols was going to be targeted by Lapo,,,,Still might happen I guess, but there's no way Arbuckle signs if he isn't guaranteed the no 1 spot....Matt as a back-up in Ottawa????could be if the RB's are nervous going with 'Fatty' right out of the gate....I think our main target should be Collaros now and hope Streve doesn't like what he's seeing down south and re-ups with us'''Going with the winning combo we had to close the season ain't too bad...Quarterback domino's starting to fall,,,Ball is now in our court to make a move1 point

This happens far too often that I can begin to describe, All teams get breaks and brain farts and bad calls. There’s always a lot of what ifs and questionable reffing. Huge plays all around, by both teams. Why are we the lucky ones? Seems to me, no matter how you look at it, if you win 3 games in a row against very good opponents, you must be doing something right. And that goal post thing? Who the hell knows what would have happened in the end zone. Caught pass, interception, great defensive play, dropped ball..etc. Why are we the lucky ones when one of our own players set it up by dropping a sure interception? I’m sure fans would have said what great concentration it was for Moore to catch that ball..But I also saw 4 Bomber defenders and 2 Riders in the end zone. Nick Taylor was right there. I try not to bring up reasons when we lose so I’m certainly not going to downplay games when we win.1 point
