Hopefully if and when Strev is back they do focus more on things with him as a true QB (which he is more than capable enough of) and shelve the gimmicky crap Lapo had him doing. Let him be a QB who can torch you with his legs if need be when th pocket breaks down and or nothing is there as well as designed runs and option stuff...but build the basis of the offence around a normal game plan....you do this, and let him grow, with his run threat there, he could become lethal

Randy Ambrosie is honestly a ******* joke. Just read the Walters interview where he said that as it was explained to him at the beginning of 2019, the NFL window would allow you to let players (Kongbo, as an example) try out and sign with NFL teams even if they weren’t on an expiring deal. Now the rules change after the season and after we spend a first round pick on him? That should be a major point of contention for any GM in the league. Ambrosie is doing an awful job for the league at this point, but hey at least we’re gonna be able to put some guy from Finland that nobody’s ever heard of on our roster this year, even though he’s not fit to carry a ball bag.

A few takeaways... the two night thing is really good. Keeps each day a manageable length and keeps the crowd in it. Plus they had some matches on night one that set up matches for night two. Speaking of the crowd, they were RED HOT during the Okada/Naito match, particularly during the ending. Same goes for Jericho/Tanahashi. I love how long they'll hold submissions in Japan. The crowd in the US would be dead bu the Japanese crowd was going insane. The undercard for night two was much better but night one was still very good. Moxley vs Juice Robinson was very good but when Minoru Suzuki came out to challenge Mox after the match, I got chills. That is a match I NEED to see. While liking them as performers, I used to really hate Juice Robinson's look as well as Jay White's. Not anymore. Now I feel like I can get behind those guys. Stupid reason, I know, but whatever. Can't say the same for Zach Sabre Jr. Great wrestler, still don't dig the look. Goto/Kenta was another stellar match. Kenta looks primed for a big push. Overall, great show. In typical WK fashion, the main events and the semi-mains were all must see matches. Fantastic stuff in all of them.

Why should the CFL waste it's limited resources on them? Seriously, I can't understand the infatuation some people have with wanting NAT QBs. If one comes along that is good enough, LEGITIMATELY good enough, teams will develop them. Until then best QB available is the only way a QB driven league survives. Screw this idea of welfare roster spots for NAT QBs. That's how teams end up with a Brandon Bridge torpedoing a season in the playoffs. The reason we haven't had NAT QBs, or at least decent ones, is not because the CFL didn't develop them it's because our minor football. and university programs didn't develop them well enough. Once you get to the pro level you either compete legitimately for a roster spot or you never will. That's the reality. There just isn't enough QB talent in our systems compared to the US.

I dont know. I think we (people who are on this board) over exaggerate things sometimes. I'd say most fans or the casual fans didnt really give a **** about waiting on the CBA. I dont think the league held it back because they just wanted too, they likely had to cross some T's and dot some I's. And then with the NFL doing what they did with CFL players under contract that may have delayed things as well if changes needed to be made. (All speculation fyi). For what it's worth. I was never upset at all about the CBA being delayed. It 100% wasnt even on my radar.

That's not the way i read Ambrosie's response, he states that fans were concerned that only 2 qbs were on the roster and he replied no they can have 3 its just not required to have 3...

I think too, that WWE has a very specific way of working which is why almost everyone, no matter how good, is sent to NXT to "learn" the WWE way. They dont care much about the live crowd, its TV. But great workers will adjust based on the crowd. Way more emotional. I keep thinking of that spot in a long Omega/Okada match where they were on their knees barely able to lift their arms but trading punches and Kenny was nearly in tears. amazing. Makes you feel its real. WWE is so wrestling-by-the-numbers. And before I come across as an Elite homer, one thing that drives me nuts about some guys in AEW is lack of selling. My gf laughs every time we watch but Im constantly yelling at the TV to "effen sell!" The modern style is very lucha, to not sell after the moment of receiving heat.

The long matches in NJPW feel like they're long because it's two evenly matches opponents giving it their absolute all. WWE always seems to play up the favourite/underdog side of things which really doesn't play into long matches well. I suppose it also helps that NJPW guys generally have a decent amount of experience in long matches. Well, the top guys at least. But I'm not all that interested in watching Yano go for 60 anyway 😛

The Kenny situation is a prime example of him not being able to adjust. It would have meant changing plans to some degree but they still had the ability to use Kenny like they are with Moxley and Jericho. The way they handled the Elite leaving may have possibly closed that window though.

I'm torn on how I feel about him as a booker. Having a long-term, cohesive vision is great but I feel like he relies too much on the same guys (Tanahashi, Naito, Okada) for the heavyweight belt. They might bring in someone for a short period to challenge (Kota) or even briefly hold the title (Kenny/White) but in the end, he goes back to his big 3. To be fair, they are phenomenal, but it would be great to see new blood in there.

I’d say yes. Didn’t watch this year (lack of Kenny) but read about it. Sounded great. How long til WM becomes a two night event too? Lol I do wonder if they’re waiting too long on Ibushi though.

If you haven't seen the Omega Man documentary (as part of the Engraved on a Nation series), it airs tonight immediately following AEW on TSN 2 at 9pm. Its fantastic, partially filmed here in Winnipeg (a lot of the sit down interviews were done here) and there are a few clips of PCW in Winnipeg (both archival and contemporary). It really should have been a 2 hour doc as the 60 minute TV edit is much too short. Kenny was unhappy they had to cut out most of the PCW footage so they edited it into the end credits. For the US Premiere in Las Vegas last year, they actually added more of the footage of Kenny's return to PCW and additional remarks from Don Callis & Chris Jericho (sort of outtakes...with Jericho ripping Kenny for being from Transcona etc...really funny). I wish AEW would "buy" the doc, I think its a great look at Kenny and Im surprised it hasnt aired nationally in the US yet. Still to come, Im sure! Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet, tonight on TSN2!

Yeah I cant stand most of this stuff. I kinda feel like his ideas have merit but its like if the average person submitted a spec script and a studio then hired a real writer to make it work, its like Smith's stuff is BEFORE the real writer was hired. Although it does make me feel like if he can write movies, we can all write movies! 😉 But I dont begrudge anyone who enjoys it. Art is in the eye of the beholder.

I like a few Kevin Smith movies, but his stuff is definitely overrated. Whenever I see him speak, whether on youtube or whatever, he comes off as fake and over hyped.

my interpretation is that as well..you have to have at least 2...3 is "not" required as it used to be, so that spot can be used for whatever. But you can use it as a 3rd if you want to..some team will..some will take advantage of that spot and dress a different player they may not have been able to roster before. If the Bombers are smart now, and Streveler is back they should designate him as something else, but say he is the "3rd stringer" technically, and then can play him whenever they choose with another QB on the field, or use him as QB2...Nowhere in the rules say that if your QB1 goes down you have to use your QB2...you could put in whoever you want technically...would be dumb as hell but not against the rules

Apparently Speedy is having trouble keeping up with the Commissioner’s activities. I myself have not seen a Commissioner work so diligently in trying to promote the CFL and putting out fires here and there, never mind dealing with the very difficult task of negotiating the sale of 2 franchises. Here’s to new adventures this year, in what I suspect will become known as 2.02.0

Love how you describe each win as being the other team losing versus the Bombers winning. This might shock you but the reason the Bombers won both games against Calgary was because they were the better team. The goal post wasn't the only reason that that Saskatchewan lost and if by the end of the 3rd quarter of the Grey Cup you had any doubts, then I have to question whether you were actually paying attention at all. Here's the thing, you can actually start believing that the Bombers are good, really good, and not just lucky.

I loved it. Finished the last episode last night. Very odd but very cool. You'll go on some weird, wild journeys during season 1 but everything fits together. It could be the best show on TV right now, IMO. I need to watch Season 1 again to absorb everything.
