Bomber Free Agent Discussion

Whitehead is mostly speed, which he has a lot of. I feel like partway through the year he was battling an injury or was given too much responsibility as he didn't look to have as much of a burst. Nelson is just more polished as a football player to me, has better vision for returns and runs better routes. He isn't as fast as Whitehead but uses his quickness well in small spaces. You can't just outrun everybody in the pros.4 points -

And he's got 600 combined yards and 4 special teams tackles in those games. What's the problem?3 points -
Not going to get into a who is better argument, but Whitehead's life history has shown that he's a guy who's shown perseverance over some pretty crazy circumstances. There seems to be zero evidence that he's a guy who just won't show up.3 points

and I really don't think that's an accurate statement... That guy was as into the Grey Cup game as anyone and as into the post game celebrations with the fans as anyone. He seemed to really be enjoying everything and if the Bombers ask him back I bet he's back.3 points

I am not a Whitehead fan but feel the need to stick up for him here. This is nothing but hilarious couch analysis. We have no proof that he "seems like the kind of guy who might not show up for camp" - and in fact he handled getting deactivated for some weeks just fine.3 points -

What is wrong with signing a guy, who performed well for us before injury, to come to camp and try earn a job? I don't think anyone is handing a job to Charles Nelson, but signing him to come in and compete is a good move. He may be among the first cuts in TC, or maybe he comes in and steals a job...he's capable of either.2 points -

He had a nice short sideline pass that he ran about fifty yards for a td. Then they used that play about five hundred times, to the point where a fan watching on tv knew it was coming. but they kept running it. and it kept not working.2 points -

Bitching about Kulikov is ????? Like he'd make any difference either way. Weird hill to pick. Since u cant fire players and im not sure i would without trying a new guy first, the rope around Maurices neck right now is likely thread sized. Have they quit on him? Some have checked out for sure, it appears most have, unless our system truly is run around like chickens with heads off in our zone by all 5 players on the ice. We have no identity. Actually its become can Helle or Bro stop 20 high danger chances a game? If not we lose. You know it's the coach when a team with laine ehlers connor scheif Wheeler roslo etc cant score.. Other team scores 4? Good night Jets. Our D zone play is likely so conplex for our offensively talented forwards that they are thinking 2 much and not reacting. 6 years is a long time.. Got Swept once, had a good run, regressed significantly, lost in rd 1 blowing leads... To out of playoffs. Its just time.2 points

******* Colin.... Ridiculous take, as always. Whitehead was so excited at GC, going around and talking to all the fans after the game. He's excited to be a Bomber. If they want him back, he'll be back.2 points

You're right, the Dems could have had universal health care -- except Obama was in his kubaya bipartisan make-nice-with-the-GOP phase, Pelosi wouldn't hear of it, Lieberman was the Dems' 60th vote in the senate and refused to consider it, and Harry Reid loved the filllibuster more than he loved progress. That old Dem guard really doesn't like the center-left wing of the party. And yeah, Joe Biden needs to defend his vote for the Iraq War. Clinton lost the Dem primary in 2008 because of her vote for it and I was glad to see that. Wouldn't mind seeing that dynamic repeat itself. I hope Bernie and Warren climb up Biden's ass about it.2 points

Considering the disaster that the Argos were for most of last year, MBT did surprisingly well. He got up after each clobber he absorbed without glowering at his O-line, and looked competent a lot of the time. With a primo O-line and decent, stable coaching, he ought to look a lot better.2 points

The democrats are a centre - right party. What the good old usa needs is an NDP equivalent. Then you get some real choice and you don't have an extreme right party pulling everyone to the right as opposed to a pull towards centre.2 points -

Charles Nelson has legit upside even if he isn't really needed in the return game anymore. He can always fill in on returns as needed and has the potential to be a pretty good starting receiver. Bringing him back is a no-brainer especially if the XFL is having a material impact on the quality of rookies that are available to CFL teams.2 points -

Just got to my hotel in Orlando. Cruise was excellent. Lots of fun, lot and lots of alcohol. I think my liver has onions, now. Cruise set sail from Miami with a Fozzy concert to kick off the festivities. Followed by un-televised aew matches. Sat front row for Talk is Jericho podcast featuring the nWo. Unfortunately, nash and xpac both canceled. Scott hall and Eric bischoff discussed a lot about the formation of the nWo and how it all came together. DDP and booker T were on the panel to talk about what wcw was like for the guys outside the nWo. And Jericho as well. It should be up on spotify soon. Waters were very for this cruise. Wives went to bed sea sick. My buddy and i proceeded to get hammered. Rode the elevator up to the bar with scott hall. Really cool guy. Day 2 was the aew taping. The boat docked in the Bahamas. We didn't get off. Wives were still sick and decided they didn't want to stand for 8hrs to secure our ringside standing spots, so we opted for second level spots with a great view and chairs. Met some great people. There were 2 24/7 titles floating around. I held both for a few minutes before losing to small children. Gotta get a better ground game. Also went to Talk is Jericho Featuring jake the snake. Really interesting. The man is very open about past indiscretions and doesn't hold back. He's an excellent storyteller and i recommend listening to that podcast. Day 3 we checked out Light the Torch, Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage's new project. Im a metal guy, so i really liked them. Also saw Farewell to fear, a hard rock group from new Orleans, also very good. Watched more wrestling on the main deck. Probably saw my favorite match ever. Private Party vs Jurassic Express. The boys have a lot more freedom on the boat and really flexed some comedic muscle. My sides hurt after the match from laughing so hard. Day 4 was pretty chill. Went to a few signigs and photo sessions. Got bored of that and went to the hottub. Hung out with ref Aubrey. Super nice girl. Saw a couple comedy shows too. Bruce jingles sucks. Craig gass is awesome. Missed gabriel Iglesias. Watched the final matches on the boat. Cody gave a nice promo thanking the fans. Drowned our sorrows in alcohol because we knew it was almost over. All in all, it was great. We'll book again. Any questions, ask away.1 point -

Who should coach the Jets?
Stickem reacted to bustamente for a topic
As the roster is made up at the moment a new coach won't change the fortunes of this team, Chevy saddled Maurice with an AHL D and the Buff situation sealed it's fate, even though the team had some success in the first part of the season without Bucky standing on his head game in game out the team gets exposed defensively, still if the Jets don't make the playoffs and that's starting to look like it Maurice needs to go, actually the whole coaching staff needs to go, as he has probably taken this team as far as he can.1 point -

Yup fair enough but I do think he needs to own some of the responsibility for the team being in extreme danger of not making the playoffs this year. For example our current crop of D-men. I for one don't think our Head Coach is the primary reason for our current predicament. However I do recognize that sometimes a coaching change can be the jolt that is needed whether coaching is the primary problem or not.1 point -

Once again .... I'd way rather have growing pains with McGuire then Jennings. I'm pretty sure at this point if we want a qb who will toss random passes into double coverage that any random qb could do the same. I don't understand the fascination of bringing in someone new who has zero knowledge of our system and guys and who completely sucked with their last team.1 point

New York Times article. Could (climate change) also cause the next financial crisis? A report issued this week by an umbrella organization for the world’s central banks argued that the answer is yes, while warning that central bankers lack tools to deal with what it says could be one of the biggest economic dislocations of all time. The book-length report, published by the Bank for International Settlements, in Basel, Switzerland, signals what could be the overriding theme for central banks in the decade to come. “Climate change poses unprecedented challenges to human societies, and our community of central banks and supervisors cannot consider itself immune to the risks ahead of us,” François Villeroy de Galhau, governor of the Banque de France, said in the report. Central banks spent much of the last 10 years hauling their economies out of a deep financial crisis that began in 2008. They may well spend the next decade coping with the disruptive effects of climate change and technology, the report said.1 point -
