Free Agency Negotiating Window

3DownNation reports that the first offer during the negotiating window has been submitted. It's a Stamps offer for OL Sean McEwen. Even though there was no $ attached, I'm pleasantly surprised that it was made public. Hopefully there will be more to come.6 points -

2019 GREY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!
J5V and 4 others reacted to Arnold_Palmer for a topic
Especially when we’re in the Grey Cup. Might not have been entertaining for other teams fans, but watching us kick Hamilton’s ass for 60 minutes was a beautiful thing.5 points -
He will be a short tenured NFL guy, based pretty much on what I assume he will be used for..I would confidently say that if he does stick for a year or two, and then uses up his PR time, and NFL usefulness vs price tag he will come back here, as a more seasoned QB and lead this team for several years....look at it as the NFL developing him for us while we roll with Zack for a year or 2 and develoip McGuire..who know's..McGuire may flourish and Strev becomes his change of pace back-up5 points
-
What I learned from watching this game is that the Grey Cup was more entertaining and I appreciate how focused our Blue were compared to the 49ers. After the 2nd interception the 49er players were posing in the end zone and "acting" up and at that point I realized they were going to lose. Totally unfocused, the coaches kept getting overly emotional whenever a call didn't go the way they wanted. Made me appreciate how good of a job O'Shea has done with this club.5 points

We have a ton of cap to spend, I’d be prepared to be the top offer for Willie if I’m Walters. we have to spend our cash somewhere, it may as well be on him. No top $$$ QB, no big money receiver, no first round pick to pay this year, no big money in our secondary. We have a lot of cash to throw around.4 points
-
Forget not Willie took less money to come to Winnipeg then staying in Regina. Even if Toronto throws a higher number... I won't assume that he automatically will take it. Maybe the Blue offer a longer deal with more guaranteed money. I'm not assuming he's gone just yet.4 points

I suspect that he won't be used much as a qb. Maybe short yardage but the NFL like to keep their starters in during those situations. I suspect they'll move Streveler around to feed him the ball much like the Saints do with Taysom Hill. On a personal note, I wish the guy well. He played like a warrior & was a HUGE reason we won the Grey Cup. I won't however, miss the Big Chris nickname used primarily by one person here (Roadgriller in disguise) & who spoiled it for a lot of us.4 points -

One of the more exciting players to shine last season. Every time he touched the ball, you knew something was going to happen. He, and Jefferson, changed the whole dynamics of a football game as we know it in Bomberville. Last season will never be forgotten. Nevertheless, he gets his chance in the big league. Good for him. Wish him luck. Hope he ‘lits’ it up. We don’t get to see too many Cardinal games up here, but I’ll surely be looking.. Great entertainment.3 points -

why is there a mentality that there's extra money lying around because Nichols is gone. Collaros just got relatively the same type of money that Nichols did last season. It's a wash, and we're in a very similar spot to last season cap space wise.2 points -

Here is the full list of Super Bowl/Grey Cup dual winners (12 in total) as far as I have researched it (accurate to 2015, not aware of any others since then, but not confirmed): NOTE: Super Bowl year refers to the NFL season played, not the actual calendar year of the game itself (so a team listed as winning in 1987 actually won the Super Bowl game in January 1988) OJ Brigance: GC - Baltimore 1995, SB - Baltimore 2001 (only player to win both playing for the same city) Brandon Browner: GC - Calgary 2008, SB - Seattle 2013 (did not play in game, suspended) and New England 2014 Dan Federkeil: SB - Indianapolis 2006, GC - Calgary 2014 Terry Greer: GC - Toronto 1983, SB - San Francisco 1989 and 1990 Harald Hasselbach: GC - Calgary 1992, SB - Denver 1997 and 1998 Tim Jessie: SB - Washington 1987, GC - Winnipeg 1988 (as noted, only player to win both in the same calendar year) Josh Miller: GC - Baltimore 1995, SB - New England 2005 (greatest gap between championships) Andre Rison: SB - Green Bay 1996, GC - Toronto 2004 Bobby Singh: SB - St. Louis 1999, GC - BC 2006 (also won an XFL title with LA in 2001, the only player to pull off the NFL/CFL/XFL trifecta) Alvin Walton: SB - Washington 1987 and 1991, GC - Baltimore 1995 Barry Wilburn: SB - Washington 1987, GC - BC 1994 Tyrone Williams: SB - Dallas 1992 (practice roster player only) and 1993 (roster but did not play in SB game itself), GC - Toronto 1996 Two other fun bits of trivia: Yo Murphy won a World Bowl title with Scotland in 1996 (was the game MVP to boot), won a Grey Cup with BC in 1994 and with Saskatchewan in 2007, and lost the Super Bowl with St. Louis in 2001 (and played in the XFL as well, only player to start in all 4 leagues and play in the WLAF/NFL/CFL title games) Jackson Jeffcoat won the Grey Cup with Winnipeg in 2019, and does not have a Super Bowl ring but could easily inherit a pair. His dad Jim won 2 titles as a player with Dallas in 1992 and 1993.2 points -

I think if you are a completely unbiased observer... and are a fan of both leagues... you could make the case that the super bowl was a more entertaining game... Grey Cup: Bombers basically dominate the whole game... no real drama Super Bowl: San Fran is 7 mins away from holding down the mighty KC offense... then they make an epic comeback for the win However, as a Bomber fan... I enjoyed the Grey Cup much more2 points -

Thank you for being instrumental in leading this team out of a dark place and playing a huge role in leading this team back to glory. I'm completely convinced we would not have developed the culture of success to be a perennial playoff team and winners of the Grey Cup this season without you. Wherever you go from here I will always be a fan of yours and wish you nothing but success (except against the Bombers). Signed, A lifelong Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan1 point -

I don't think I'll ever cut cable. I enjoy the ease and convenience of my PVR and I have yet to find consistency with my KODI. There always seems to be glitches. All the various streaming services also seem to be expensive. We have Netflix and bought a year of Disney just to try it out... Neither we use very often, especially compared to our cable.1 point -

Saying Picard is a slave master tis no joke. I happen to like the slower pace of Picard. Not like Discovery where the action starts thirty seconds in, goes the entire episode, things blowing up, ships being destroyed & life forms being killed. All the while trying to keep up with a plot that goes in 3 different directions simultaneously.1 point -

I think a lot depends on how long Streveler stays in the NFL. If he's released early, pretty much guaranteed he'll be back with the Bombers. If he hangs around a season on an NFL practice roster, not so sure he'd come back. A lot changes in pro sports in a season. McGuire may have cemented the job as number 2 QB, or number 1 in waiting. The Bombers will be looking for a number 3 QB and may have found one they're happy with by then. Plus the new CFL season will bring a new Nick Arbuckle or Cody Fajardo that many CFL teams will be after. Not saying Streveler wouldn't be sought after, but, if he's gone the entire CFL season or close to it, no team is holding a place for him.1 point -
Thank you Matt Nichols

I remember 2016 very well... the team was 1-4 (or about to be)... we were sitting in IGF and I said to my lifelong friend/fellow season ticket holder " I might be done, if this season continues like this, I don't think I'm coming back next year"... this was our 13th season has season ticket holders.... The next game in Edmonton, Matt Nichols was named as the starter over Drew Willy... a couple other changes were made too... Loffler started at S, Bond was moved to G and Hardrick at RT... and that started something different... that was the first day that the team became competitive and we finally saw the results of that last November... Long story short... without Matt Nichols I am confident that Mike O'Shea and Kyle Walters would no longer be employed by the Bombers and we would not have seen the drought end in November... for that, all Bombers fans owe Nichols a huge amount of gratitude... some people did not love Matt's play over the past 12-18 months... which is fair... but you can't deny that he was one of the major reasons this team is where it is today. Thank you Matt Nichols... all the best in the future...1 point
