I'm curious which team's broadcast you like better than the Bombers. Also don't buy the "Irving doesn't have a sense of humour" thing. First, a PBP guy is supposed to be relatively serious. That's the gig. Second, if you listen to the pre-game stuff with Irving/Brown/Tait, they're spending that whole time joking around, and it's fabulous. I personally don't get the need for a PBP guy to be "zany". The colour guy can be loud and brash and opinionated (but don't go over the top...because you lose credibility) but the PBP guy has to be "staid" for lack of a better term. I've listened to virtually every other broadcast team in the CFL, and it's actually embarrassing how bad some of them are. Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal....just God awful.

Agreed. We aren't talking about entire careers being spent with one team. Go in, make your money, do your time and then choose where you want to go... or not. Players might find after a few years that they actually like where they are and are content to stay. If you are really that unhappy prior to becoming a UFA, have your agent try to work out a trade that works for you and the your team. Barring that, suck it up & you can use all that cash you are raking in to wipe away your tears! 😂

I liked hearing Irving on 680 this morning. Said it like it is. West will be tough. Calgary is always a tough team. Said Sask has a good team. BC will be better and Edmonton is in the mix. Bombers have a good chance to repeat but its not going to be easy! Cant argue with that.

I've definitely noticed that Sask's media personalities call out other teams on the air and have their biases. Like Pedersen and Mullinder both just have obvious beefs with the Bombers and show it. When you listen to 1290 or Brown/Irving they never seem to have a hate on for a particular team. The Riders are just as indifferent to them as the Argos or Esks. Makes me glad there's some actual professionalism here, unlike in the barren wasteland to our West.

It was right here in Winnipeg against Chris Kanyon. Everyone knew he was coming but he so friggin' big, it was unreal. I remember yelling for Kanyon to run for his life. He has always been one of my favs. Just so big and imposing and, like Kurt Angle, such a talented wrestler. Side note: I really liked Kanyon.

I think players should play for the teams that draft them. How long though? MLB - 6 years of full playing before someone becomes eligible for free agency. First three years, players are not eligible for arbitration, so get league minimum. NHL - 7 years of service or aged 27. NBA - It's complicated. NFL - Four years before becoming an FA. I thin think MLB and NHL have it too long. NFL seems about right at 4 years, IMO.

If a player were to have the choice for what team he should play, it essentially eliminates the purpose of a draft, IMO. And as mentioned above, it's a privilege to play in the top sports leagues in the world. As such, there are rules to follow and rules related to the draft are there for a reason.

I remember having this debate around Eric Lindros. To some the idea of forcing a player to play for a team sounds wrong. But no one is obligated to play for the nhl. If you want that privilege there are rules to abide.

The Riders media toes the line is all. The RIders are the only game in town and any sportscaster that doesn't blow sunshine up their arse gets blackballed by the club. There is literally one sport to report on in Saskatchewan, either you kiss Rider butt or you don't work. Ask Rod Pedersen...one slip up in 20 years and he gets to walk the unemployment line.

guess I overstated what I think, or misrepresented myself. I don't like zany either, don't like it at all, and I don't like other broadcasts better than the Bombers. I think Doug is excellent, and bob is really good at the play by play. Probably the best at it. I think pregame, and Ed Tait is outstanding, by far the best league wide. I agree that one or two of the broadcasts are not very good. so we probably agree on most of it.
