  1. Forget Jones...the CFL is going to have a hard time signing draft picks at that mandated contract. A guy won’t be a free agent for 3 years and basically has to take the minimum salary the whole time? There are guys who will retire from football and guys who will exhaust any and all options outside of the CFL first at those numbers. An extremely stupid overreaction to a few draft picks being overpaid.

  2. I’m a busy guy. I’ll wait for the podcast and save myself an hour. ******* Boomers with all their free time. Working their 4 hours at Home Depot twice a week, going grocery shopping during the day, having their stupid afternoon naps and going for their 3pm suppers at Perkins. No wonder they have nothing to do after 4pm. Lol 😉

  3. I don't think they thought it all the way thru. They added language to cap draft picks salaries for the first 3 years that also applies to NI's who play in the NFL before coming into the CFL. They just need to update the wording so the NI salary cap doesn't apply to NI's who get 1 or more years in the NFL.

  4. I'm going to change my response on the salary issue. I shouldn't have placed the blame all on Ambroise. I should have said, this is a mess that all sides need to fix so that the league doesn't lose out on some talented NI talents.

  7. I enjoy Hal in the afternoons. He's definitely come a long way since his bar gig days at The Oak. Most of his topics, discussions, etc are mostly puff pieces, but lets face it, he needs to pander to his listeners which are probably like 70% geriatrics. But im still a listener when im in the car and im 41. Hal is like a comfy sweater. He is after all the 34th Greatest Canadian! Right in between Gordon Lightfoot and Laura Secord lol.

  16. Listen...just like any leader of any company. They should only focus on 1 thing and only 1 thing at a time until it is completely resolved to the liking of every fan/customer across the country. Obviously! Honestly though. Some people have absolutely no vision of the future. But will gladly complain when the future doesnt turn out as bright and shiney as they want it to be.

  17. Because the commish writes the CBA all by himself and no one has to approve it right? How does the global program have anything to do with this?

  20. This is a strange old man rant for someone who I'm pretty sure is not that old... You're saying you prefer listening to an hour of content with an hour of commercials mixed in... rather than just an hour of straight content?? Strange position to take... Also, like the podcast, CJOB is also free... I may be a "****** millenial" but I also have two young kids and a full time job... which leaves me with about 20 minutes of free time per day...

  22. I don't feel that it's over stated. I refuse to listen to the shows because it completely kills any kind of flow and it's so choppy with all the interruptions. It's the complete opposite of what is popular now in sports radio which is podcasts that provide tonnes of content which can be accessed anywhere with minimal to no interruptions.

Farhan Lalji reports he signed for $50 and the Lions still have lots of cap space for Walker. His anonymous source is "E. Hervey". Wait that is too obvious. It is "Ed H."

  33. Yes, in fairness, i'm only 39, but old-template radio pays my mortgage, so I'll always go to bat for it. But I'm also a huge fan of CJOB and have been since I was a teenager. (I have forever been a senior) I used to listen to Peter Warren call in stuff while I was working my summer job in my late teens. I worship Knuckles. During CFL months, the Knucks-Tait-Brown pre-game on CJOB is maybe the thing I look forward to most each and every week. It's just fantastic radio. My wife, who is all of 32, has become a massive fan of the full CJOB broadcast, and sitting around listening to the post-game interviews with players has become one of her favourite things. Okay, old man ranting done for now....

  34. This story fell under the radar: Teck Resources purchased a Solar Facility in B.C. in January. Vancouver, B.C. – Teck Resources Limited (TSX: TECK.A and TECK.B, NYSE: TECK) announced today it has purchased the SunMine solar energy facility (‘SunMine’) in Kimberley, British Columbia, from the City of Kimberley. SunMine is located on fully reclaimed land at Teck’s former Sullivan Mine site. The 1.05 MW (megawatt) solar facility, operational since 2015, is the first grid-connected solar facility in British Columbia and the first built on a reclaimed mine site, and has potential for future expansion. https://www.teck.com/news/news-releases/2020/teck-announces-purchase-of-sunmine-solar-energy-facility?fbclid=IwAR2LPqjVQeIO6kesnXDE_Q79IzeZ2EGVDK9jhzqmtjn0tZDCTlJvw7xemjI

    Did You Know..

Did You Know.. Former Bomber Ian Marouf is now playing in the Mexican league as a result of the effort of CFL 2.0 and the exchange of players. “It’s been wonderful. The people are great and the level of competition is really, really good.” raved the former sixth round draft pick of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. “There is a lot of raw talent that hasn’t been seen yet and the LFA is a growing league. It’s only a matter of time until the players get recognized.” https://www.americanfootballinternational.com/canadian-players-relishing-early-mexican-experience/

  36. Didn't we beat St. Louis twice in row this year? Anything can happen in the playoffs versus regular season. See Tampa Bay Lightening circa 2019. On paper you are absolutely right, this season looks like a wash but I haven't given up hope for this year yet, very very close but not yet.

    The Environment Thread

Trudeau's fault! JPMorgan Chase announced a pledge to facilitate $200 billion in environmental and economic development deals and will pull back from advising and lending to the coal-mining industry. Apart from helping to fund new climate and economic inclusion projects, the bank said it’s taking steps to accelerate the transition to clean energy. On top of stepping back from advising companies that get most of their revenue from coal extraction, JPMorgan said it will put restrictions on financing new coal-fired power plants, phase out “credit exposure” to the industry by 2024 and will stop funding new oil and gas drilling projects in the Arctic. Wild Card Race 2020

We need to miss big now. We can't keep picking up points. We should be aiming for a 10th to 12th pick and hope to get lucky and move up. I suspect we'll end up with the 14th pick.

  41. I liked hearing Irving on 680 this morning. Said it like it is. West will be tough. Calgary is always a tough team. Said Sask has a good team. BC will be better and Edmonton is in the mix. Bombers have a good chance to repeat but its not going to be easy! Cant argue with that.
