In a pandemic why not? It's the ordinary working stiffs who need the most help, why not cut out the complications and just say everyone is getting a minimum income to keep food on the table and roof over your head? Hopefully when this all blows over we as a society can seriously re-evaluate how much we give away to the already rich and powerful and we can get some proper protections in place for the working class.

I stopped by my local LC to show support yesterday. I've stocked up enough support for a month and half, I would have said. However, I have been working from home today and will continue to do so until March 30th and, if today is any indication, I'm going to need to restock soon. Kids have been out of school since last Thursday. At what point do I call it a State of Household Emergency and implement martial law here?

Yeah, it doesn't look like it includes interest relief. So, in the end, you will pay more for your mortgage but, if you're in a financial crunch as many will be, you can free up cash for other things. It's a good move but hopefully not one that many have to use.

Ubi shows plenty of evidence of working. And realistically is it going to cost any more than the aid that will already have to be paid by governments? I mean **** the americans are already spending trillions trying to prop up the stock market. How much more impact would trillions have for individuals?

It’s long past the time. Studies show it works.

From my experiences the older folks think that employees won't do work if they are at home and think all hell will break loose. For myself just saving the time on the drive is huge and being able to do some things around the house during the day (laundry, tidying up) makes my quality of life improve big time. Happy life equals... less disgruntled and more productive employee.

This is what the NFL Draft will look like this year. Can't wait to see it. No more Roger Goodell hugging the players. No more Deion Sanders thinking HE is the reason the NFL has a draft. No more glitz. No more glitter. No more screaming crowds. It's gonna be great. Just football. The CFL Draft is just a bit above this picture now. Certainly no glitz & glitter. CFL never has crowds. No Commissioner hugging players but he is going to give out free scarves.

The GOP (and Faux News) has been instructed to refer to the COVID19 as the "Chinese virus" as often as possible to throw red meat to Trump's base. BTW: Elizabeth Warren has proposed some stunningly effective and rational conditions for any business receiving federal moneys to offset the impact of the pandemic.

Be better off giving money to employees who lose their jobs. Businesses have proven time and time again that any money doesn't get passed on to people. Perhaps it's time for a universal basic income.

Sanders is done, and frankly that’s for the best.

I think they'll do anything they need to do to ensure the NHL continues to make as much money as possible for their own benefit.

I'm happy to have a Fed gov't job in times like this. I'm considered an essential service, so I work no matter what, but I get to do it from home.

I really hope you don’t lose your job! As a graduating or near graduating uni student, I’m worried that I won’t even find a job this summer.

Moreso than direct money to me, what I am really hoping is that businesses will be given injections/incentives to stay afloat and keep their staff. I'm not worried about getting sick, I'm worried about losing my job for any length of time. Really praying that my company, and the businesses whose advertising supports it, can survive for 3 months or whatever this is.

haven't played it yet -- a friend gifted me Disco Elysium last week while Fallen Order was downloading and I've been digging that game. DE is super cool, it's like a David Lynch take on a detective RPG. Might not be to everyone's taste though, there's a ton of text and weirdness to process. Fallen Order is next though!

People can study the results of the Dauphin experience into UBI a few years ago. Probably requires further studies but it showed a lot of promise. And Andrew Yang has a lot of info about this because it was his main policy plank in the election. It used to go against my beliefs as a more conservative person but you cant argue with the results. The US (and Canada to a lesser extent) are going to end up bailing out airlines and auto makers and whomever else...huge businesses that have made massive profits and are now suddenly bankrupt? If they cant manage their finances to absorb temporary issues, they should be compelled to pay the money back. Its the middle class (and lower) that need support. And when the US cries about how there is no money for anything that supports middle class and yet, suddenly there is trillions, what does that tell you. There's always money.

Whatever... Let them make the playoffs and get to the second round, then lose their chance at the first overall pick.

They certainly should. Its a weird thing because I recall work from home being one of those new fangled ideas years ago but businesses really got away from it. I guess they think all employees will screw around? My job could be done anywhere. No reason to be in an office. And this company, a few years, was issuing laptops to people and creating a more mobile workforce and then completely changed and now, there having a huge problem trying to switch to a work-from-home model.
