I'd be shocked if we can even have an eight game season... I think Covid will be over in Canada but I'm not sure our border with the states will be open - its going to get ugly there3 points -

With how low the market is right now, I'd be purchasing stocks through TFSAs instead of RRSPs because... 1) In either investment vehicle, the sales would be exempt from capital gains taxes provided you buy/sell from within the plan. 2) As economic times are uncertain - by purchasing through a TFSA instead of an RRSP, the funds are still accessible without adverse tax consequences. That is, if I needed the money later in 2020, I could withdraw it from my TFSA without increasing my taxable income (not the case for RRSPs)... there are some more intricate rules for TFSAs here if you're close to your TFSA limit, but if you're well below it, you should be fine (talk to your financial advisor if you're unsure). 3) As most of us are, to some degree, working less, we'll likely be earning less income for 2020, meaning the main pro RRSPs have over TFSAs (an upfront tax deduction), is much less advantageous - as most of us will be in a lower earning bracket (thus saving less marginal tax) for 2020 at least. Of course, if you really like contributing to RRSPs, you could choose to carry forward the RRSP deductions to a future taxation year.2 points -

That is probably because no national government has implemented Communism as envisioned by Karl Marx. All of the national leaders thus far have utilized communism as a pretext to mobilize people as an ideal but once in power, most despots have a very difficult time relinquishing it. Any form of government, once installed and supported unquestioningly by their followers, will gravitate towards authoritarianism- the example we have in front of us is Trump.2 points -

This isn't directed at you, 17to85. Here's the thing. Yeah, it's a joke & all generations get old eventually. But it's just not about Boomers. My wife is an Oncology RN at the Tom Baker cancer Centre in Calgary. She sees death everyday. Sometimes her patients come in for treatment & then disappear so she checks the obits every morning before work to see if she can recognize any patients she has treated that have passed away. These nurses & doctors are pretty stoic when they lose a patient. It's still very hard on them when someone young or was a long term treatment patient suddenly dies & it does take a toll emotionally. Cancer doesn't discriminate based on age like people do. Every cancer patient undergoing chemo & radiation treatments has their systems immuno-compromised. The 80 year old with liver cancer to the 4 year old with neuroblastoma or the 30 year old with a young wife & family who has been stricken with Leukemia. What about them? They're not all Boomers & I'd say the vast majority are super scared & don't want to die. Floyd suggested Boomers are taking up space like somehow it's their fault they are old & sick. My son's sister in law is expecting a baby in Portland any day now. As of today she is 3 days overdue. That infant for all intents & purposes when born will have no immune system as it hasn't fully developed. A perfect little target for the Covid 19 virus. What about that kid? Shouldn't it have a chance to grow & get old like us? Millions of people of all ages are sick & taking up space in hospitals worldwide. None of them want to be there. As a society, do we now look at bed shortages, ventilator & mask shortages & blame it all on the sick? Now, we're going to sacrifice them for the good of the economy? Or for people who are conceived as being more net contributors to society? Giving them a better chance to live & recover. Is that what society has come down to now? We'll now dispose of the old & sick to save someone younger?? They are doing that now in Italy & it looks like it'll be that way in the US in the coming weeks. What a terrible position to be in as a treating physician to have to make those choices. And if one of those sacrificed is a loved one. I just can't imagine... And Floyd, if you get sick & have to go to hospital, chances are there will be a Boomer nurse & physician to take care of you & to allay your fears all the while risking their health & the health of their families to treat you. We're in this together.2 points -

https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/simulating-the-season-capitals-close-in-on-clinching-metropolitan-panthers-maple-leafs-deadlocked-in-atlantic March 26 - Preds win to move into the #2 wild card spot, and the Wild lose to put a dent into their playoff chances. In the East, Washington wins and takes over top spot in the league. And a win over Detroit means the Philadelphia Flyers clinch a playoff spot. Apparently THN is going to finish off the whole sim thing tomorrow rather than drag it out for the next couple of months. Like they are so busy with other things?2 points -

It aired so... The king is dead. Long live our synthetic king. Personally I would have just left him as is but now he can die twice like Data! Speaking of Data...this might start another shortage on kleenix. This was really well done. Who thinks Narissa is dead? She had lots of time to activate another transporter I'm surprised Soong joined the others so quickly. He kinda seemed like someone whose not a big fan of humanity. When did Jurati have time to read the helmsman manual and excel at the test? What happened to Narek? I never saw him again after he was taken away? It was okay. Was not a huge fan of the show least the finale not boring.1 point -

Yeah a team with a consistent coaching staff...minimal turnover and being able to hit ground running right away not having the growing pains of integrating new players..schemes..etc is gonna be huge in a shortened season...especially along an o-line and we are set up pretty well with everyone back on the whole offensive side of the ball1 point

https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/simulating-the-season-lightning-take-over-top-spot-in-the-nhl-kuemper-blanks-golden-knights March 25 - Slow night in the Western wild card chase. Canucks lose, Flames get an OT loss, and Oilers win. Coyotes also win to climb back into the hunt. In the East, Tampa has a big night, blanking the Leafs to move into top spot in the Atlantic, #1 overall in the NHL, and that also means the Tampa Bay Lightning have clinched a playoff spot.1 point -

As good a time as any to return the Bank of Canada to it's original purpose. If not now than probably never. Restore the use of the Bank of Canada to its original purpose, by exercising its public statutory duty and responsibility. That purpose includes making interest-free loans to the municipal/provincial/federal governments for ‘human capital’ expenditures (education, health, other social services) and/or infrastructure expenditures. https://canadiandimension.com/articles/view/the-bank-of-canada-should-be-reinstated-to-its-original-mandated-purposes1 point -
