Farhan saying that coaches have apparently been told to prepare for 1-week TCs. I understand the thought process here, but man, that just seems like begging for injuries. I'm still holding out hope for a half-season starting at Labour Day, but as noted, it's the "getting US players across the border" that's going to be the issue. Things are a MUCH bigger mess down there....3 points -

Partnering with Chicago-based Athlitacomics – the brainchild of former University of Manitoba Bison star and National Football League veteran Israel Idonije – the Bombers launched a creative and inspirational campaign that is unique to the Canadian Football League. The premise sees the team’s superhero players get transported back in time upon touching the Grey Cup to battle foes over the team’s nine decades of existence dating back to 1930. As the season unfolds, the superheroes advance through each of the decades using their various superpowers in their quest to repeat as Grey Cup champions. https://www.bluebombers.com/heroes-champions-way/?spMailingID=5147772&spUserID=MjMzNjA0MzE0NDg2S0&spJobID=981386716&spReportId=OTgxMzg2NzE2S0 In tune at all times, Drew Wolitarsky has the ability to disorient his opponents with his Vibrational Steps and shake his defenders. Every time his feet make contact with the ground, he emits a vibrational pitch. When he unlocks his maximum frequency, he can use the vibrations from his steps to increase his vertical leap, allowing him to make highlight reel catches.2 points -

Another presser, another attack on a reporter, not surprisingly a black female. Kudos to her colleague who handed her the mike after Trump cut her off her so she could ask her remaining question. Nice show of solidarity. Here is what I would love to see. Rather than boycott, show up and DIRECT ALL QUESTIONS to Dr. Fauci. Freeze Trump out. If (when) Trump tries to cut him off and answer the question himself, just re-direct back to Fauci and ask "Do you concur, or do you have a different answer?" Get the stats on back-to-work days, supply needs, and words of comfort to the nation from him, not Trump. I'd bet dollars to donuts Trump would be more flummoxed and bothered by being ignored than Fauci would be cowed or embarrassed by contradicting Trump in public when trying to get useful info out to the general populace. Then the next day when Trump returns, undoubtedly without Fauci in tow (which we already have precedent for), before he even gets started just ask "Will Dr. Fauci be present for questions today?" and when Trump says no, or says he'll take all questions, or floats out Birx, then the reporters should stand up en masse and walk out. Maybe even a parting shot of "Will he be back tomorrow?" as they are leaving. Repeat this walk-out every day as long as Fauci is blackballed, and repeat the questioning tactic every day when he is there. Let's face it, nothing of value will be missed if they walk out on a Trump-only press conference. And his precious ratings will take a dip as well if no one is covering him.2 points -

******* comic books....I can't roll my eyes hard enough. But I get it...the nerds are a demographic that isn't in to football, so if this somehow gets them to buy tickets and such, then whatever. It's the same as getting someone like Bieber to do the half time at Grey Cup...it's all about appealing to a demo that's not already there.1 point -

Getting into these spats with Trump at his conferences doesn't help. Even if the question is legit, the pre-amble is set up to rile him "You have said ABC and it is contradicted by DEF, so my question is (irrelevant by then because it is simply masking the intent which is to draw out his hypocriscy/incompetence/goal post moving/failure, etc.). He gets to play the victim which plays to his base and validates his claim that the fake news media is just out to get him. So when his cronies says the Dems want deaths to go up just to spite Trump, his base buys in. The old adage "don't argue with an idiot, they'll only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience" applies here. Unfortunately, the media, even in the guise of wanting the truth out there, still worry about ratings and costs, so they are happy to have panel discussions on the cheap rather than investigative journalism to fill their 24 hour news cycle. And Trump pressers are the new "if it bleeds it leads" car crash. People tune in to see the latest fight and be horrified by the latest Trump "how low can I sink" moment. States are not getting resources, and the trending on Twitter is about Trump's TV ratings and how the Royals may or may not want secret service protection and how dare Americans pay for it. A freeze out would be so much more healthy for the nation, but not for the networks, Trump, or the advertisers.1 point -

Marshall Ferguson... I like to romanticize the ‘team of destiny’ concept but reality often brings those theories back to earth. No team of destiny would have their best offensive player suspended for two games, lose their starting quarterback and have to trade for another passer — whose 2019 resume featured four snaps. Teams of destiny don’t lose back-to-back games on the road after a week-long road trip where players bond as dormitory roommates and they don’t lose to winless teams when leading by 20. The 2019 Bombers were a running team in a passing league. They went against the status quo in style and relied heavily on internal confidence rather than outward bravado. ....At the end of the up and down two men deserved much of the credit — even though they’d never admit it. Bombers GM Kyle Walters and Head Coach Mike O’Shea kept the Bombers trending upwards. https://www.cfl.ca/2020/03/29/upon-review-winnipeg-blue-bombers/1 point

Yes, he is. To anyone who does not know, Collins was the Command Module Pilot who orbited the Moon while Neil Armstrong was Mission Commander & Buzz Aldrin was the Lunar Module Pilot* (although Armstrong flew the LEM down & back to the Command Module) did all the fun stuff on the lunar surface. I'm sure Aldrin couldn't have been happy how they portrayed him in the series compared to Armstrong who was shown to be strong & calm always. Aldrin was portrayed as jealous of Armstrong as he wanted to be the first to walk on the moon. So jealous that he complained to the real higher ups at NASA claiming the indecision to pick who walks first was creating dissension among the 3 man crew. If there was dissension among the 3 astronauts, it was never shown. So an annoyed Deke Slayton, the Director Of Flight Crew Operations acting upon orders from above called Aldrin & Armstrong into his office & made the decision in a 2 minute meeting to have Armstrong be the first out of the LEM & onto the lunar surface pointing out that Armstrong was the Mission Commander & should go first. Aldrin complained loudly to all that could hear about Armstrong's piloting skills when during a simulation he didn't act quickly enough to abort a landing when the Abort Alarm went off in the LEM & they crashed. He felt Armastrong was indecisive & slow to react. Aldrin is a very religious man & demanded he be allowed to do a religious Catholic communion ceremony upon landing. He apparently cleared it with Chris Craft who was Head of Mission Control but never mentioned it to Armstrong until he did it. They showed Armstrong surprised at what Aldrin was doing but never said no. As far as crashing the LEM in the simulation, he firmly told Armstrong that crashing was the only way to learn to be a better pilot (after he heard him complaining to Collins about the incident). He told Aldrin that he crashed deliberately to see how long the reaction time would be for Mission Control from the time the alarm went off to abort the landing to getting an actual order to do so & it never came. He felt that at sometime during the mission he may be forced to make a decision on his own in an emergency so he wanted to be ready in his mind to take over. He wanted to know how fast or slow an order would come. He advised Aldrin to stop making an issue about it as his complaints would get back to Craft & that he already had enough problems to deal with. Now that Neil Armstrong is dead, Buzz Aldrin is perhaps the most famous Apollo astronaut left alive. Was he not a total team player? Maybe a bit self centred yearning for the spotlight? Who knows? They did get to the moon, walk on the surface, collect rock samples & get back to the Earth alive. I guess it proves the 2 astronauts didn't have to like each other or be close friends to be able to work together as is true in all situations. How many of us don't like some of our co workers yet still work with them everyday? * None of the Lunar Module Pilots on the Apollo missions ever were assigned to fly the LEM. Only the Commanders did. So, even though they had the title of Pilot, they weren't actually piloting the craft.1 point -

I just finished watching the mini series from 1999, the Tom Hanks produced From The Earth To The Moon on Crave. Really enjoyed the story of how we got to the lunar surface. I lived through all that. Most of those brave Apollo astronauts are gone now. The survivors are in their mid 80's to early 90's. I never thought that it would be half a century later & we've never gone back. Upon thinking back, I truly believed that there would have been a settlement on the moon by now.1 point
