If this Pandemic has done nothing else it has shown the glaring difference in our two countries. Every time I watch the news from South of the border all I can think is " thank God Im on this side of the line ".Ever since Katrina I have been of the mind that we are watching a nation in its death throws. Violence, hate, anger, greed, an inability to pull together even in a time of crisis, a complete lack of empathy for each other. Its one of the few countries in the world that has allowed politics to take presidence over fighting the pandemic. Lots of mistakes have been made by many countries but always its been leaders TRYING to do what they think is right and best for their people. The real question for me is how far will the crumble go.5 points -

One thing that often goes overlooked (overshadowed by Cameron and Westwood tough games) is how good Milt played in the 01 GC game. He was outstanding and made a TD catch in triple coverage that is, to this day, one of the greatest football catches I've ever seen in my life.5 points

whoever thought it was a good idea to put him in the booth at all in the middle of a championship game is a moron. It was likely one of the producers, but it doesn't matter...it was incredibly stupid. Takes away from the importance of the game. NFL would NEVER allow that during the Super Bowl.4 points

I cannot agree with this line of thinking. IMO, the grocery stores are doing a pretty darn good job of regulating the amount of people in stores and providing a somewhat clean and functioning system. It would be system stifling to try to bring in enforcement to have people abide by some of these suggestions. Never mind the best use of law enforcement. And I have not seen a “free for all” as described. I can’t speak for other cities, but I like what I see in Windsor. The majority of shoppers are doing it right and the front line workers are being real champs. We don’t need an extra diversion, extra baggage at this time. And we’re getting closer to a somewhat more normal situation. It would force some shoppers to go to multi stores if they so need it, and who wants that? This is the time when everybody has to work together for the common good...for everybody, including Union workers.3 points

I said entertainment, not just sports and i stand by it, and a live event can add hope of a return to some state of normalcy whether its on tv or not. It would show we are moving in the right direction,we all need something to take our minds off the doom.3 points -
Stegall finally got a good qb and he started breaking records. The guy is the absolute best. And the times he was in the grey cup game he was also fantastic. Just let down by rhe5rest of the team. Him not having a cup is the greatest shame in CFL history.3 points

All non-essential travel has been effectively halted at the Canada-US border until further. What sort of exception could be made for athletes, especially in light of the situation in the US right now? And from an optics standpoint, I doubt such an act would reflect well as Canadians continue to lose their jobs. And that's somewhat of a false equivalency. Seasonal farm workers' provide an essential service by way of providing commodities for the food supply chain. Athletes provide no such essential good or service.3 points -

Not everyone has the ability to shop once per week, but it would make things better if they did. There are those who do not have vehicles and bring home food almost daily because that's all they can carry. Save-On foods and other stores are advertising "free" home delivery and curbside pickup but you need to place your order a week in advance. In general though, I ventured out to Canadian Tire and Home Depot today and was stuck by the politeness and good humour of everyone, although having to push a cart around to pick up a small can of paint seemed silly.2 points

there won't ever be CFL football with no fans. It's not financially possible for any CFL team. The CFL is a ticket driven league. Also no open borders. No american players. No CFL ball. The CFL is talking the good talk right now. As they should be, because anything is possible. Don't cancel until there is absolutely no other choice/time left. But unless some kind of miracle occurs, I just don't see how any sport is played this year, outside of the NFL which doesn't need fans in the stands.2 points -

He hasn't been fully trained on the TSN Way yet... 1. Players have to have stupid nicknames. 2. Dumb catchphrases after every touchdown or big play. 3. mention a subject in the first quarter then talk about it the rest of the game ad nauseum. 4. Interview someone... anyone... then shove them on TV with smiling personalities. 5. When interviewing totally ignore the three TDs scored or the momentous comeback. 6. Ask... no wait... TELL... the person being interviewed that they must do pbp even if they don't want to. 7. Be as absolutely annoying as one can be on tv. He has a long way to go before graduation.2 points -
I stand by my stance that in-game interviews set up by TSN are the stupidest idea they have put out, a close second to having Rod Black as a PBP announcer. The cherry on top of this poor decision was the Grey Cup game. Highly embarrassing for the CFL, the fans, and I bet poor Keith was regretting the decision to go up in the booth. He’ll never do the CFL again. He might even write a half-assed half time song about that experience. “Urban Miss”2 points

I read a great quote awhile back about why sports is going to be the very last thing to come back. I'm paraphrasing, but it said, basically: "Sports is the byproduct of a healthy society. When everyone is healthy and everything is back to normal, and there are zero other worries, THEN we can talk about having sports and entertainment in our lives". I've seen some make the case that sports is an economic driver, so it should come back early for that reason, but I don't necessarily buy it. I'm more inclined to believe that we don't NEED sports that badly. It's far more important to make sure that everyone is safe and will remain so.1 point -

It's not. I've said it mutiple times. In times of desperation (war, famine, illness etc.) Sports is always...ALWAYS. The first to go. As seen by the NBA/NHL etc. Making it essential would be a very bad mistake by any political party.1 point -
Well it could be argued that entertainment is essential. And that watching a live event unfold could bring at least a sense of normalcy. But all the factors that need to come together for a gate driven league seems to be almost insurmountable right now..maybe late summer?1 point
