Simon was absolutely one of the best ever, but Stegall in his prime was still better, IMO. His on-field awareness, his superb route running, his buttery smooth hands, his attention to detail, and his ability to elude and confuse defenders were all second to none. To me, he embodied the prototypical receiver meant for the CFL game and field.3 points -

Larry Arugala had a great rookie season and a not so good follow up. I, and others, argued that he more than deserved a chance to redeem himself, but he was railed against by most and heckled out of town. Glad we ended up with Meddy and glad his career rebounded like a lot of us thought it would. Always liked that guy. He doesn't owe anyone, media or fans, an explanation.3 points -

Not sure what the best place to post this was, could go in Canadian politics or the environmental or random news threads, but it seemed like it would get the most eyeballs here and does impact Trump’s big economic push to salvage his election chances. Oil went below $0 a barrel today. Yep, oil suppliers are now paying buyers to take it off their hands, since they have too much surplus and can’t even give it away for free. Can’t wait to go to Shell where the sign says “Gas, $20” and go to fill up and have them say “Here’s your gas. And here’s your $20.”2 points -

And MB. has had days when around 1000 people were tested - Alberta has 4x the population of Manitoba I am not sure why Manitoba's numbers seemed to be viewed as inaccurate or some kind of conspiracy. We have been taking the same social distancing measures as other provinces, and we really only have the one large urban centre. The rest of the population is more dispersed and less likely to have a major infection outbreak. IMO, Manitoba's numbers are about what you'd expect.2 points

John Oliver returned to his “blank void” on Sunday night for another quarantine edition of Last Week Tonight. And the main story of the evening concerned the miniature protests that have been popping up against stay-at-home orders over COVID-19. And these little misguided protests have been thanks to the dangerous disinformation being pushed by those in the right-wing media who’ve repeatedly downplayed the danger of the novel coronavirus, which has killed over 65,000 people worldwide including more than 41,000 in the U.S. There’s Rush Limbaugh—or “A man with millions of listeners, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and almost certainly, a room in his basement that his housekeeper isn’t allowed to go into,” cracked Oliver. On March 11, Limbaugh said on his radio program, “All of this panic just is not warranted. When I tell you… that this virus is the common cold. When I said that, it was based on the number of cases. It’s also based on the kind of virus this is. Why do you think this is COVID-19? This is the 19th coronavirus!” “OK, no Rush. Just no,” said Oliver. “It’s called that because it was first identified in 2019, you giant potato.” Then there’s Fox News, with host Sean Hannity calling it a “hoax” and “hysteria,” and Laura Ingraham calling Democrats “panic pushers” for warning about the potential dangers of the disease. “When people started dying, and that argument became harder to sell, the network seemed to pivot from trying to downplay the warnings to downplaying the deaths,” Oliver explained, before throwing to Dr. Phil (yes, really), who said on Fox News, “The fact of the matter is…365,000 people [die] from swimming pools but we don’t shut the country down for that!” “The total number of drownings, period, is around 4,000,” responded Oliver. “Also, if swimming pools were killing 360,000 people a year, and you could contract a swimming pool on a trip to the grocery store, we might want to think about shutting them down until we worked out what the **** was going on.” liver also pointed out how, while Fox News was “downplaying” the danger of COVID-19, the company suspended all non-essential business travel, encouraged employees to cancel all in-person meeting, and said that they should conduct business via Skype or phone “because,” Oliver said, “they only pretend to believe these things on television for money.” Oh, and lest we forget white nationalist sympathizer Tucker Carlson, who’s pushed hydroxychloroquine as a likely COVID-19 cure—which was then parroted by Trump. And it wasn’t just Carlson, with Fox News promoting hydroxychloroquine 300 times in a two-week period, with Laura Ingraham “even visiting Trump at the White House earlier this month to advocate for the drug.”2 points -

No, but we already know his name, so they've provided him the spotlight he sought. The media will be pumping out his saga for the next 2 weeks so the next nutbar anxious to make a name for himself can take inspiration and collect more paper-clippings. If they treated shooters with anonymous identities as they do juveniles and the victims of crimes, plus suppressed the details of the crime through a publication ban, I believe there would be a significant reduction in copy-cat mass-shootings. When nothing else works, try psychology.2 points -

Lirim made a mistake. Didn't handle it right. Most fans aren't Draconian. I think if he would have faced the media & owned what happened that fans would have got over it as would have his teammates & coaches. I just remember it wasn't just the fans & media who gave up on Lirim. Walters & O'Shea did as well. We all know Mike. He'll go to great lengths to protect a player from criticism or scrutiny but he didn't with Lirim. I think Mike & Walters were very upset with his behaviour at the time. Otherwise, he'd have continued playing for the Bombers & he'd have been re-signed. Yes, he was run out of town but I'm happy for Lirim that he went to the Cats & played well. Now, he has his NFL shot. Hope he does well.1 point -

Well she was 14 when she met Elvis so I'd assume the age difference will come up. And he died of drugs so surely that has to come up. And he loved his momma so Im betting that come sup too (especially as they cast a great actress in the role). In regards to the young girls, they may play it off as more the times. Elvis was 24 and I am going to take a guess that that age difference wasnt unheard of, especially in the south.1 point -

Likely closer to two years by the time hockey resumes. And closer to, if not 36 years old. Wild fans are nauseating. They think every Minnesota born NHLer wants to play there... It's like a Leafs homer and a Rider Prider had offspring and they wound up in the self-proclaimed "State of Hockey." I'd put money down on Byfuglien being done with hockey for good. I think he just wants to enjoy his life, his family, and his sweet fishing boat.1 point -

Worried about her age because of Joe's. might not be bad considering Trump is old, in terrible shape and prone to looking on the verge of collapse at times. But, the idea is Biden is the transitional leader, the guy that brings the country together, unites everyone and gets things stabilized until a more dynamic person takes over after his first term. I think Warren would be a great President, but then we're talking about her running when she's 75 against a lot of younger opponents and risk a rough primary (which is what the GOP always wants). I'd rather see a younger woman. And all things being equal, a POC.1 point -

If true, then the "I like fishing and want more time with my young family' reason wouldn't completely make sense to me. Because whether its playing here or with the Wild, his hockey commitment would remain the same, taking away time from his fishing/family. Again, none of my business and we are just chatting here but if he signs with another team in the near future you'd think it's more than just wanting to be closer to home and fishing location preference.1 point -

I believe Noeller was talking about the first time, when Simon came back from the nfl. He was replaced by Arland Bruce basically. Honestly for me Geroy Simon is the most over rated all time receiver. That's the only way to do it. Some bad **** going down at the Cargill meat packing plant in High River about 35 minutes south of Calgary They went from 38 cases 3 days ago to over 350 today. Eighty per cent are foreign workers with multiple families living in one or 2 bedroom apartment in town. Combine that with working conditions such as having people being elbow to elbow apart on a production line means the virus is spreading like wildfire. Cargill was deemed an essential service by the provincial government so the company refuses to shut down. They supply something like a third of all meat to this country & that is why the AB govt doesn't want to close the meat packing plant down. Employees are now talking anonymously to the media saying they're afraid to go to work, They said that Cargill supervisors are phoning employees who were already exposed but asymptomatic in quarantine telling them they have to go back to work or else they'll be fired defying the 14 day quarantine law. Some of the sick employees are still wanting to work because if they don't they'll miss attendance bonuses. Of course, Cargill is denying any of this has happened & said they have brought in measures to clean the plant more thoroughly & made self distancing easier in the crowded workplace. Cargill said they even laid off an entire shift of a thousand employees to make sure this happens. However, employees are saying measures aren't enough & crowding is still a huge problem. After all is said & done there will probably be a provincial enquiry & I wouldn't be surprised if criminal charges are even laid. Alberta Health Services, Cargill, the AB govt & Health Canada are all complicit in this. They all know what is going on & are turning a blind eye so now there's a serious outbreak going on. The union, townspeople & NDP opposition are screaming bloody murder & rightly so.1 point -

I stand by my stance that in-game interviews set up by TSN are the stupidest idea they have put out, a close second to having Rod Black as a PBP announcer. The cherry on top of this poor decision was the Grey Cup game. Highly embarrassing for the CFL, the fans, and I bet poor Keith was regretting the decision to go up in the booth. He’ll never do the CFL again. He might even write a half-assed half time song about that experience. “Urban Miss”1 point

Let’s not forget Manitoba enacted Social Distancing at the same date as many other places but were way behind in infection rates. It has said we acted a full week early than other jurisdictions based on arrival of the virus in our area. Such inflammatory BS from the left. If it is safe for 30 people to meet once a week is is not so irresponsible to suggest they do it 3 times a week is it? Not once has anyone other the JT suggested that all members be in attendance. JT has only done it to try and make the Cons look bad. Can’t say that only Scheer is politicking. JT has been given a national audience everyday and had been political most days.0 points -
