Anyone watch the last scene of the HBO mini series, The Plot Against America? Voting machines removed on Election Day during the Presidential vote because they were "broken" said one thug to a voter who asked what was going on. Thousands of voter ballot boxes stolen stuffed with votes burned. Voter numbers rigged for certain candidates to win & others to lose.2 points -
That's a horrible way to negotiate. Never go in with a number you can't justify. If you do, you get the other sides backs up and it makes it harder, if not impossible, to come to an agreement.2 points

I don’t know. I look at that list and see a lot of potential...to work with a Trump administration. Quite unremarkable. Say what you will about Ambrosie but he’s presented a lot more ideas and pushed to have the League successful in different ways. Successful all the time? Heck no. But, he’s probably tried a lot more than half the names on that list put together. A sign of the times..2 points -

So here's just a few problems based on my years in gov't reviewing all sorts of funding proposals. I've seen stadium/arena proposals. I've seen plans to create 5 meter x 5 meter gardening plots. I've seen almost everything in size and scale under $500 million. I've also seen a lot of people coming forward who don't even know what they need. They can't articulate it. But... 1 - You need to come with a real plan. Sure, you can get through the door, gets someone's ear about your plight but, if you don't have a plan, waiting for gov't to develop one can be problematic. 2 - If you're relying on gov't to have a plan, you better have a lot of time and not be approaching them during a crisis. Like now. The gov't analysts are working OT already trying to come up with plans and formulas to tackle the bigger problems facing our economy right now. This is not a small ask. Someone needs to analyse all the data and determine what the economic impact would truly be if the CFL folded. Also, what are implications for bailing out the CFL? Who's next on the list? How much are you going to hand out and how do you pick winners and losers. 3 - If gov't is going to bail them out, they need a policy in place to rationalize it, which goes back to the previous issue. It sounds like the CFL has identified that there is a problem and have found some ways to contribute back through offer advertising but they haven't come with a plan. That's what I'm reading.2 points -

I think Ambrosie should have dealt with the P.A. before going to the Fed. govt. cap in hand, having a whole load of wishy-washy maybe factors involved in the negotiations makes it much more difficult for the Feds. to approve. No 2020 season means no income which translates to no pay for the players beyond what has already been handed out, if that means every current player gets cut and they start over with new lineups in 2021 so be it, the survival of the CFL is at stake. This is not the time to negotiate with an organization that can't see past the end of their noses, cut the players loose, cut expenses to the bone, then go to the govt. cap in hand with a realistic request that will help preserve the structure of the league.1 point -
You can play whatever semantics game you like...clearly if it comes down to it the CBA and player contracts are going to come down to legal determination at some point. If you start any process without collective cooperation between the CFL and the CFLPA it certainly doesn’t sent a very positive image to anyone you are asking support from. A TEAM effort clearly wasn’t demonstrated and the perception of that hasn’t been encouraging. Get our act together !1 point

Lots of places are still paying bonuses adding incentives and hiring new people that are looking for bailouts and or support. The fact the gov't is being Soo stingy and resistant to helping a cultural institution and one of the oldest championships in history is sickening. That's a good point. Has any one signed a draft pick yet? Maybe the teams have agreed to a movement freeze while this is sorted out.1 point
-
Could be a good idea. But also I'm uncertain how putting bonus money on the table is going to look at this point when the CFL is pleading for a bailout. I wonder if the teams have been told to lay off that for now.1 point

This CBC interview with a supposed sports economist is terrible. "If you're telling me that Ambrosie's being honest about losing $20 million last year, then $150 million is seven years of loses," he said. "Why do you need a decade worth of losses now?" WTF is that? Economist my ass. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/cfl-funding-pandemic-1.55631231 point -

It was a bad look for a guy who makes his living as a so called CFL Insider. Do I think any less of him? No. But he should have known better.1 point -
Also for some reason the amount of points a player scores (or value they bring to a team) also impacts how severe society looks at the punishment. It's easy to throw away a 4th liner like this guy... but if Ovie were to do the same... I guarantee the team and fans would be much less critical. Weird society.1 point
-
I see that as part of the problem in today's society. If someone is racist, homophobic, or say, anti - semitic, that is viewed as inappropriate and is usually dealt with severely. Yet, other offensive things, such as in this case degrading women and teammates, are seen as less serious, because so many people do it and it is an ingrained part of certain cultures. Hopefully people get to a point where they are just disgusted with themselves.1 point

The PPV idea is fatally flawed. TSN makes it's money selling ads. The more people who watch the games, the more those ads cost. PPV greatly reduces the number of folks who watch, which in turn, greatly reduces the amount TSN can charge and bring in. They'd be better off putting all the games on TV and giving the CFL the contracted amount of money for the number of games televised.1 point -

Last week I lost my Aunt, this week I lost my Mom. There are a lot of deaths occurring in nursing homes nation-wide that are not directly linked to COVID-19, but should be considered collateral damage due to the extra stress that has been placed on these facilities.0 points
