The game Demski played in the Grey Cup doesn't get nearly enough love. I am critical of the guy at times but he was huge in that game and if not for Harris being Harris he could easily have taken the top canadian in the game award.5 points -

This is an overlooked part of our playoff run. Usually there's luck involved with reffing, but we got none. The refs gave Calgary a TD a few minutes in to the game then proceeded to have most calls go their way. Sask game, Fajardo is 2 yards past the LOS and makes a 10+ yard completion. Bogus call. Start of the GC, Jefferson gets a very suspect RTP right off the hop. They overcame it all and didn't let it get to them. That's what makes Mike O'shea an elite coach.5 points -

I feel like that win over the Stampeders in the WSF catalyzed the 2019 Blue Bombers in becoming a team of destiny. Something happened in that second half at McMahon Stadium and the boys never looked back. Granted, the WF at IGF West was a nailbiter but I never felt as though they'd lose that game. Even after that ridiculous catch by Moore off Sayles' fingertips... The team dug deep and made the stop. And for the "but the ball hit the upright" BS, the defense had full coverage and that pass by Fajardo wasn't very accurate. The GC was an absolute walloping. The Ti-Cats didn't stand a chance.4 points -

Stamps aren't even in that game if they aren't gifted the first 2 TDs. Just watched the 4th quarter of the Grey Cup. This has been said so many times in so many ways, but what an absolute **** kicking. Demski, Harris, Jefferson and Jeffcoat were in another league in that game. That drive in the middle of the 4th quarter was when I finally unclenched and started enjoying it. #BaileysTDWasACatch3 points -

Way more arrogant which is why it was soooo sweet to watch the Cats crash down to Earth. The Grey Cup game was a slugfest. With the Bombers doing the slugging & the Ticats getting the festing. The Cats turtled. They cowered. They gave up. Especially Dane Evans their hot shot rookie qb who should have been taken aside by Steinhauer, told to grow a set & be a leader. He was throwing temper tantrums & hissy fits all game long. He didn't like the treatment the Bomber defense gave him. Evans may indeed become a great CFL qb but on that day he was just a scared little rookie with a bloody nose. The Bombers were like the bully in junior high who would sit beside some poor kid, punch his arm, tell the kid he'd die if he told the teacher & then kept hitting him over & over while the kid cowered in pain silently. Evans never once fought back or rallied the troops on the sidelines like Matt Dunigan or Mike Reilly would have. Midway through the 3rd quarter, it was over. After they lost Brandon Banks, the Cats weren't coming back. I loved every freaking moment of the beat down.3 points -

Just another bad President? I've see quite a few, but.... Trump is actually a textbook case of a total malignant narcissist. The childishness, immaturity, raging tantrums, serial lying, egotism, lack of empathy or integrity....are merely symptoms of this deep seated condition... When it comes to advice even within his own administration, the Don is simply psychologically incapable of accepting what they are telling him. Any Intelligence information that does not conform to his worldview simply cannot be processed. This is the main reason that a lot of posts in the WH are populated with under qualified flunky's, to tell him what he wants to hear - thus "proving him right". His internal world is filled with baseless and outlandish conspiracies that fit with his emotional needs. In Trump's distorted, paranoid view of reality - NATO, EU, UN, etc, are all enemies, who rip off the US and are inherently untrustworthy. Trump’s weird admiration for dictators of all stripes....can be understood more readily, when one understands that actually, they exhibit the same authoritarian, narcissistic and paranoid worldviews, as Trump. In reality, Donald simply has a higher comfort level with those folks. His view on government is that it should be based primarily on loyalty to himself, rather than the rule of law or democratic norms. In his world, only Trump and his allies, his supporters, and their friends are entitled to the rights and protections of the law, and if necessary, immunity from it. Any disagreement with him is "criminal" "treasonous" or some form of devious plot against him. Contrary to those democratic norms, all his activities must be shielded from any form of oversight. Therefore, the traditional balance of Judicial, Legislative and Executive entities, must be upended and institutions like the DOJ, Intelligence community, etc, be belittled, and discredited (he is working hard on those right now) His base is passionately loyal to him, as over the years, the right wing propaganda has instilled a mindset, featuring them also as "victims" surrounded by "enemies" Hatred of "elites" manifests itself as resistance to the "Deep State" which consists of pretty well all existing institutions. All Trump needs now is to design the appropriate salute. All of the traits mentioned above, have been on full naked display during the pandemic. Some of us wondered how Trump would respond to a real crisis. Unfortunately we don't need to wonder, any more. Trump transcends the usual push-pull of Democrats and Republicans. Beyond mere policy and beliefs. - this man is a complete menace, and a danger to democracy.2 points -

The implication is that if the SCOTUS agrees that Trump is above the law, they can immediately take off their robes and go home forever, as it would mean that he is the ultimate authority and can overrule them as he pleases. Thus they are redundant and no longer needed.2 points -

Mike Jones' "critical" interception came with 36 seconds left on the clock and the Bombers up 33-12. He had 4 tackles in the game (Sayles led with 6) and 1 special teams tackle in the second level of tackling (19 yard gain on the punt return before his tackle). He did knock Banks out of the game and had 3 pass knockdowns, including the big one against his namesake for the Ticats (who also got injured, so if you want to argue that he wins the MVP for causing the most injuries on the opposing side, I'll give you that one). Jones was covering Banks for the first half, and Banks was the game's leading receiver before he got knocked out. Very solid game for sure, and I'd award him the Happy Honker for the timing of that pass knockdown on the goalline in the third quarter when it was 27-12. Jefferson had 2 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles, including the biggest one that directly led to Harris' first touchdown which gave the Bombers a lead they would never surrender. Splashier stats and his pressures kept Evans off balance all game. He was also part of a line that forced 2 turnovers on 3rd and short when the Ticats had not been stopped all year on that play. I'd put Jefferson over Jones. However, it is arguable that Jeffcoat had an even bigger game. 4 tackles (including a big tackle for a loss against Banks on an end-around sweep that stalled the Ticats drive in Winnipeg territory and forced a field goal to make it 7-3 instead of 7-7 possibly). Also 2 sacks, had a third taken away because of a Jefferson roughing penalty, forced a fumble which he recovered himself, and the aforementioned pressure and 3rd down stuffs. Of the 7 turnovers the Bombers had, 2 were fumbles forced by the d-line and 2 were failed 3rd down sneaks, and add in 6 sacks for good measure, so the line played a critical role in the tempo of the game. I would give it to Jeffcoat barely over Jefferson, but Harris had the biggest first half of them all where the game was essentially decided, so he is probably the rightful winner. Disagree?2 points -
Trump is badly botching the virus. New polls show Americans know it. May 12, 2020 at 9:03 a.m. CDT In what should be seen as a rebuke of President Trump, Anthony S. Fauci will tell a Senate panel on Tuesday that reopening the country too quickly risks causing “multiple outbreaks” of coronavirus, resulting in “needless suffering and death.” Majorities of the American people appear to agree with Trump’s most prominent coronavirus task force member. Indeed, two new polls strongly suggest Trump has lost the argument over how to respond to the virus right now on just about every level. A new Post-Ipsos poll finds that 56 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the coronavirus, while only 43 percent approve. By contrast, 71 percent approve of their governor’s handling of the disease. Full coverage of the coronavirus pandemic Tellingly, this also applies to specific swing-state governors in Trump’s crosshairs. He has raged that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer must “LIBERATE” Michigan, and has fumed that people in Pennsylvania “want their freedom now.” But in Michigan, approval of the governor’s handling of the virus is 72 percent, while Trump’s is 39 percent. In Pennsylvania, those numbers are 72 percent and 45 percent, respectively. Another finding from the poll confirms even more clearly how badly Trump has lost the argument: It finds that an astonishing 57 percent of Americans say Trump is not doing enough to ensure that people can return to work safely. By contrast, only 42 percent say he’s doing enough. By contrast, 69 percent say their governors are doing enough to ensure that people can return to work safely. And 56 percent say their state governors are handling the pace of lifting restrictions “about right,” while only 16 percent say they’re not lifting them quickly enough. And 74 percent agree with the view that the United States should keep trying to slow the coronavirus even if it means keeping many businesses closed. Only 25 percent take the opposite view — Trump’s view. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/05/12/trump-is-failing-disastrously-americans-know-it-new-polls-show/2 points

Levant and Shapiro make a very good living out of milking the gullibility of their right-wing followers who treat every utterance of theirs as gospel. Its a lot like the Sun newspapers- in the west they wail about any perceived favours given to Quebec while in Quebec, the Sun complains about western Canada's influence in Ottawa. There are seemingly a lot of people who need to have their identities as victims confirmed endlessly and are willing to pay for it.2 points -

There are certainly seniors suffering. But they could have provided for seniors Wirh low income quite easily rather than a universal benefit. But it wouldn’t have bothered me if they weren’t also heartlessly laying off hydro workers to save a fraction of the money. That’s cruel and it’s clearly not covid related. It’s all about forcing hydro to make cuts under the cover of a pandemic.2 points -

I'm not as concerned about the CFL not having a firm business plan for their initial meeting. Ambrosie explained prior to that meeting that they were just going there to say "Listen, we are totally and completely f***ed if you don't help us..." and that was about it. He just wanted to make sure they knew that. After that, then they'd go into the nuts and bolts and come back with something more official. I'm 75% confident this is all going to work out and the feds will find a way to keep the CFL going until there's a vaccine and fans can come back.2 points -

REALITY BITES: Trump Sabotages His Own Coronavirus ‘Mission Accomplished’ Moment The president had a banner proclaiming “AMERICA leads the world in testing” and a message of strength to deliver. But it all crumbled when he stormed out of his briefing. Kevin Lamarque/Reuters It had all the trappings of a “Mission Accomplished” moment: the banner, the presidential pomp, and a message that wasn’t true. But what President Donald Trump wanted Monday to be a show of strength over his administration’s coronavirus testing push, complete with a banner touting “AMERICA leads the world in testing,” ended under tough questioning by reporters, causing the president to storm off abruptly. https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-sabotages-his-own-coronavirus-mission-accomplished-moment?ref=home1 point -

Re-watched the West Semi this weekend. I could watch that game over and over again, just like the Grey Cup. The Stamps came into that game with such a high amount of arrogance. There was no way they thought they could lose. I honestly think that they made the cardinal error of looking past Winnipeg before the game started as they were so certain that Winnipeg would be a simple speed bump and their real competition was going to be Sask to get to the Cup. The fact that they could actually lose the game didn't start sinking in until the 4th quarter when they suddenly realized that the game was rapidly slipping out of their grasp and panic mode started up. The look on the sidelines between Bo Levi and Dave Dickenson after Bo threw the INT (to Maston I think, or Taylor) was priceless. Just this death stare between them as the two arrogant ****-heads try to process how the Bombers are kicking their asses, and how they never saw it coming. Just so awesome. I actually paused the game at that time and did a CR toast to the Bombers, as that was just so enjoyable.1 point -
