I mean, it blows my mind that nobody in the CFL office thought “hey, if the global pandemic makes cash flow difficult, a good alternative would be lowering the Argos’ salary cap for 2020 by the amount they went over in 2019” Skating by with no penalty? That’s an absolute joke lol3 points -
What the hell is Ambrosie doing....letting the argos' off the hook....He's setting a bad precedent here...I understand that this franchise is on life support BUT knowing they cheated and allowing them to keep a first rounder they didn't deserve, and doubling down on an extra territorial pick is just plain bull$hit ...He could've let the fine go but for cripes sake have the balls to back up the rest of the punishment...All of the rest of the clubs are presently wondering what the hell is going on...BRUTAL3 points

So out of this 38% of people who still support him, after all his documented and proven idiocy/crime, how much of that 38% are Make America White Again people? This actually might be useful tool to give us the percentage of the Racist Bigots living in the US plus or minus 3 percentage points.2 points -

re: First Nations cases..... not sure if Iso meant the Siksika First Nation east of Calgary, which did have a minor outbreak, but they had a COVID Management Team in the community from Day 1 with their own testing site and everything, and it was snuffed out relatively quickly....or is my understanding from the daily Dr Hinshaw pressers....2 points

Interesting article from the Nat'l Guard POV: "One of the D.C. National Guardsmen said he was worried that a lot of the goodwill that the Guard has built up with local Washingtonians because of their coronavirus response and annual Fourth of July celebrations was in jeopardy. “Within the span of 30 to 40 minutes, all of that washed away because of political stuff,” he said. Osterholm said the Guardsmen were ill-prepared for the hate directed at them by the protesters, which was reminiscent of the anti-military sentiment during the Vietnam War. The shift from being viewed as heroes during the coronavirus pandemic to villains suppressing citizens’ right to protest happened overnight, she said."2 points -

"One of the models that is being considered quite favourably is not the hub city model but the ‘adopt-a-team’ model." Play the season out of Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton and Calgary and then move the playoffs indoors to BC so you can extend the season. #CFL2 points

The GOP has become a lot more brazen and systematic in their voter suppression and voter intimidation. They are encouraged by the White house and the corrupted DOJ in their efforts. This is going to get really, really ugly, folks.1 point

the electoral college makes this more complicated than it looks. There's more dems but they are clustered in cities. Clinton had a four-point popular vote win and still lost in the electoral college because she ran up the score in places like California and New York and lost the midwest by a few tens of thousands of votes. Basically, land gets to vote for president, and land generally votes GOP. I feel okay about Biden's chances, but damn Trump pulled a rabbit out of his hat the first time and the vote suppression machine is revved up and with corona chaos and a massive surge in absentee ballots and a democratic nominee who doesn't inspire a lot of passion and the massive surprise of 2016 still hanging in the air ... everything is uncertain.1 point

Trump Campaign Demands CNN Retract, Apologize for Poll Showing Joe Biden Leading President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign demanded that CNN retract and apologize for a poll that showed Democratic candidate Joe Biden leading by 14 points. The campaign sent a cease and desist letter to CNN President Jeff Zucker Wednesday. The network immediately rejected the president’s demand. “We stand by our poll,” CNN spokesman Matt Dornic said. In addition to showing Biden with a lead of 55 percent to 41 percent over Trump, the poll found the president’s approval rating to be 38 percent, the lowest it has been since January 2019, and his disapproval rating to be 57 percent. https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-campaign-demands-cnn-retract-apologize-for-poll?ref=home1 point -

I see this as extraordinary times in an extraordinary environment. Is it really such a stretch to see forgiveness in this climate where teams are already pushed to the limits and nobody knows how long the CFL can survive? Lets try and get the League back on strong footing and take it from there.1 point

If they are planning to have any fans in attendance (socially distanced of course), I think the CFL is going to have to figure out some type of innovative, incentive based ticket sales structure. Maybe offering package tickets to fans where you could attend games for your own home team plus random games between the adopted team and another team. Then do revenue sharing. I might go see a Hamilton - Saskatchewan game if I got some type of discounted ticket with the purchase of a Bomber ticket.1 point -

Coronavirus infections in younger people are skyrocketing —While those under 40 still have a lower mortality rate, they're suddenly contracting coronavirus in greater numbers In the initial days of the pandemic, some skeptics wrote off the coronavirus as something that mostly affected seniors. The higher death rates for the elderly, coupled with numerous stories of tragic outbreaks in nursing homes both here and abroad, contributed to that public perception. Yet a new series of reports reveals that, contrary to conventional wisdom, the young should not assume that they are safe from coronavirus infection. Indeed, in the past two months, the rate at which people under 40 are testing positive for coronavirus has shot up in many locales. While younger people remain at much lower risk for dying of coronavirus, they can still transmit the virus to others of any age group. https://www.salon.com/2020/06/09/coronavirus-infections-in-younger-people-are-skyrocketing--heres-why/1 point
