  1. Favourites: Milt Stegall; Andrew Harris Classy professionals who gave their all to this organization. The flip side: any of the awful DBs we employed - for seemingly endless stretches of time. Ditto to the OLs that wrecked Khari Jones and Drew Willy.

  2. Add Chip Cox, Diamond Ferri, and Sanchez to the Montreal list for the same reasons... POS guys.

  3. Gotta disagree just a bit. Flutie & Moon absolutely - they were in a class by themselves. But Ray and Calvillo were similar in both style of play and effectiveness. Lots of dink & dunk with the odd medium or long pass mixed in.

  6. Don’t be shy. Name names. I remember a story Nick Benjamin told when he joined the Bombers. He was an offensive lineman with Ottawa who was consistently regarded as the dirtiest player in the league amongst his peers. He got traded to the Bombers and actually said he was afraid walking into the locker room to face Ty Jones and James West knowing all the cheap shots he had taken against them in the past, sensing that an offhand “Sorry about trying to take out your knees so many times” might fall flat. He approached them and before he could get a word out beyond “So I just wanted to clear the air...” both players walked up to him and pulled him aside into a corner, and West said “Look, what ever has happened in the past, you are now our teammate here, we expect you to be a Bomber, we have your back and we expect you to have ours. Let’s just leave all the rest of it at the door you just walked through”. No apology, no forgiveness, just an understanding of how it was going to be going forward.

  7. Yes. Best pure passer maybe ever. Doug Flutie is the greatest overall QB this league has ever seen, no question, and could do everything. Pass, run, read defenses as well as anyone...he did everything. Ray was as good a passer and d-reader, and possibly even better, but didn't have the run game. Ray was a surgeon. He doesn't get nearly enough respect for being on the Mount Rushmore of CFL QBs.

TRUMP CAMPAIGN VOWS TO DEFEND JESUS!!!! Trump campaign vows to defend famous statue of Jesus — that’s located in Brazil. President Donald Trump’s campaign is making a solemn vow to supporters that he will never allow the destruction of iconic statues located in foreign countries. The Daily Beast reports that the Trump campaign over the weekend sent out a new ad featuring a photo of the Cristo Redentor in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro and informed supporters that “WE WILL PROTECT THIS.” The Cristo Redentor is perhaps the most famous landmark in all of Brazil, but apparently no one on the Trump campaign realized that the statue was not located in the United States. (I told you this was going to be crazier and crazier)

Trump Rage-Quits Fox News After Network Shows Him Trailing Joe Biden In Polls President Donald Trump said he’s done with Fox News after the network on Sunday showed him trailing former Vice President Joe Biden in the polls. Trump claimed he was leading in “real polls” but did not cite any: Trump has repeatedly claimed that 96 percent of Republicans approve of him. While he does enjoy high levels of support among members of his party, there are no recent polls that show him reaching that level. Last week, a Hill-Harris X poll found he had an 82 percent approval rating among Republicans, down from 91 percent in May. In addition to attacking Fox, Trump also urged his supporters to change the channel. Trump has repeatedly attacked news agencies for reporting on polls unfavorable to him and even sent a “cease and desist” threat to CNN last month for broadcasting a poll that showed him trailing Biden by 14 points. https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/trump-quits-fox-news_n_5f02ae8fc5b6acab28527a59?ri18n=true

Honestly Calvillo really benefited from the situation around him. For my money Ray was better, just outside of his Edmonton time didn't have tremendous teams around him. Honestly not sure where to slot Dunigan in with the all time club. Guy had a peak as high as anyone IMO, trouble was injuries matter right?

  11. Anthony Calvillo is right up there with the best of the QB's that have played in the CFL. Only a couple seasons where he did not shred the Bombers defense.

  13. Yeah Bell was a tool. Arrogant, not all that good, and had a stupid mustache. Pretty easy to dislike. For me other dislikes would be Dave Donaldson(crappy play), Sam Hurl(crappy play), and Henoc Muamba(jerking the team around and being a hired gun whos all about the money). Joe Mack is in a league of his own when it comes to dislikes Favorites would be Milt, Walby, Roberts, Juran Bolden, Terrence Edwards, and Khari.

  14. Favourite Bombers hmm... Greg Battle, Tyrone Jones, James "Wild" West, take your pick. Battle's performance in the 1990 GC was legendary. Juran Bolden was a lot of fun to watch as well. Although the SWAGGERVILLE gimmick was a bit lame I also really loved watching peak Jonathan Hefney & Jovon Johnson. Super sad about Hef hopefully he can turn his life around. On the other side of the ball I think we all have Andrew Harris at #1 or close to. I'm a bit too young to say Joe Poplawski but F it I'll mention him anyways since I've listened to my dad gush about Joe Pop enough that I have second hand appreciation for him. Stan Mikawos & Chris Walby I'll pick for my trenches guys. Least favourite is tough, I'll just agree with @TrueBlue4ever and say that Joe Mack sucks.

Interesting to me how this is basically turning into Donald Trump being the confederacy champion... He knows they lost right? And quickly? Apparently the civil war never really ended in the United States.

  19. Hopefully, no one who reads the facts of his suffering hopefully will ever again argue (A) that COVID is just another flu, or (B) recovery = all turned out well. I know of a local dancer who “recovered” but had her leg amputated after suffering blood clots due to her COVID illness, but did not die. Hardly the “she’s all better” that most would equate with “recovery”.

We can only hope that she was smart enough to create a poison pill that if she dies, someone, somewhere will spill all the beans to the world. Her father, Robert Maxwell was apparently assassinated by Israeli agents but was not wise enough to do this.

    Covid-19

I was talking to someone the other day who believed the whole thing was a hoax. He said he knew someone who died of cancer but the hospital put ‘corona virus’ on the death certificate - said it was a lady from Manitoba. It took me less than a minute to determine that she could not possibly be one of the 7 Manitoba deaths (based on the date of death & her age didn’t match either). So yeah, if people can believe crap like that, they sure won’t be concerned about social distancing.

And yet, we constantly see Americans refusing to social distance. Tens of thousands at the beach. Or in some huge crowd down there. They don't seem to care so it gives politicians like Trump & DeSantis the courage & entitlement to do what they do. It's happening here as well. Yesterday my wife & I drove to Kananaskis Country outside of Calgary. There were thousands of people in picnic & camping areas. In 30 years living in Calgary & visiting K Country, I have never seen hundreds of vehicles parked on the shoulder of the highway as the parking lots were absolutely jammed. We didn't even get out of our car. We just turned around. I hear that Grand Beach has been packed as well. So, just proves Canadians are just as STUPID as our American neighbours.

  29. Favorite: Kenny Ploen - As a kid growing up without seeing the Bombers win a Grey Cup and looking back and seeing this guy had won four just made him mythical to me. Had a chance to meet him and he's a cool guy too. Humble, and just a great dude. Least favorite: I find this a lot tougher actually, I guess I would have to say Nic Grigsby, only because he was such a flash in the pan that talked way too much. Couldn't walk the walk, and definitely was not a team player. The fact he was on some of the worst Bomber teams ever doesn't help.

  30. Not nearly enough love for Doug Brown in this thread. Greatest DT in league history, American or Canadian, and moved to town full time to give back in a number of ways. He's everything you could ask for of a professional athlete in your community.

  31. Favourite - I feel personally that this one gets locked in wheN you are young and impressionable and “hero worship” these players. So while I loved that Willard Reaves was so good and gave those footballs to the kids in wheelchairs after he scored, for me it will always be Tom Clements. Super smart, not graced with superpower ability but a massive football IQ, quiet, humble, winner. Plus loved his crack when he came back for his Bomber Hall fo Fame induction “Thanks for the beautiful framed jersey, now I can return the one I stole from the locker room on my way out when I retired”. Close second would be Mike Riley, who always found the silver lining even in a tough loss and just was someone you wanted to cheer for since he seemed so nice and genuine. A middling college coaching career and the Oregon State player sex assault scandal tarnished His rep a bit. Least favourite is more built up over time. When I started following the club, Bernie Ruoff was the villain around town for his pot bust and ejection from the club, but before my time so no problem with him. Brock was the big villain for a long time For his zoo comments and holdout, but he returned graciously and the shine has never come off his brilliant play. Charlie Roberts is high on my list for squandering all that talent in the big games with his partying, and his walkout, but our 2019 Grey Cup has washed away the anger, and his overall play makes him hard to dislike. Gerald Wilcox was great until he trashed the team on his way out of town after being cut, which is never a good look, but the club was proved right in the “I can still play” “No you can’t” war when Calgary cut him in training camp. And Troy Westwood bothers me more now as a broadcaster than he did as a player even factoring in the ‘01 Cup, but he’s doing a bit on the radio as the resident contrarian, so meh. That leaves me with 2 on the management side as least favourite. #2: I was never wowed by Mike Kelly as an O/C (that offence was mainly on Dunigan improvising and not so much the genius of the game plan) and was leery when he was given the head coach spot given his arrogance and seeming entitlement to the job, and he did not disappoint in displaying those very characteristics. Middling results but an embarrassing spectacle in the PR world, capped off with his criminal charges after he left. But even he pales in comparison to the train wreck that was Joe Mack at #1. I knew a well placed football person in the Province who said that they were essentially one of three people Mack would be forced to pick up the phone and take advice from even when he chafed at the idea, and they said the combination of arrogance and ignorance from him was unlike anything they had encountered. He fought everyone, played the “I’m the smartest guy in the room, just ask me” card all the time, and the results? I’ll skip the litany of bad draft choices, coaches under the bus, patronizing media conferences, and just leave it at “52-0”.
