If you don't believe that "Capitalists" want to remake society in their own image then you've never read about their game plan. It's no secret, they don't hide. Attack the homosexuals, attack all non evangelic Christian religion, attack anything they don't consider 'normal, divide people and conquer. How about we stop trying to label everyone and paint them all as bad? Why don't we look at the big picture and recognize what is good for society as a whole? Marxism isn't all bad, yeah people have done shitty things in the name ofjit, but people have done horrible things for capitalism too and it's not all good. People need to be less beholden to their beliefs and more open minded and pragmatic.4 points -

That's rich. It's plain as day who's been missing the points here. Calling an indigenous person in Canada or anywhere else on the American continents an Indian originated from a perspective of ignorance some centuries ago. That mistake carries on to this day. You choose to disregard, dismiss, and downplay all that by ignoring historical facts and instead make irrational assumptions, throw around useless buzzwords, and play some sort of unhinged devil's advocate - out of boredom (as you said earlier). All while claiming to want to try and make others think for themselves. There's no need to entertain such absurdity.3 points -

I hate cancel culture as a term. You know what the single biggest flaw in your argument is? It's that you think a name change is meaningless. That's just wrong. It is not meaningless. Yes it won't wrong any past rights or really change the way people are treated... but it is a gesture that says "yes I understand that this is a phrase that is hurtful to some people and therefore I will change it so they don't get offended" It's about tolerance and not a "**** you suck it up" attitude.2 points -

Covid-19

Dang shame this ^^ could happen especially when the experts say if everybody listened, and wore masks too, then it would be contained in 4-8 weeks. Unfortunately, too many Covidiots out there to pay attention. Oh Canada 🇨🇦 eh2 points -
America Is on Track for a Million Coronavirus Cases a Day, and at Least 800,000 Deaths, by the End of 2020 Until we have effective and safe medications, a proven vaccine and better testing, our best shot at getting control would be to again close many businesses and activities. If someone had suggested five months ago that we would be seeing more than 3 million cases and 135,000 COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. by mid-July, I wouldn’t have believed it. But now it’s distinctly possible that, five months from now, half of all Americans could have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, and more than 800,000 Americans may die in this extraordinary outbreak. That is what many of our most prominent public-health experts now expect. Could their projection models be off base? Maybe. But don’t count on it. As bad as the health consequences, disruptions, restrictions, and fear of the last five months have been, things could get a whole lot worse. DR. CFL and one other reacted to Eternal optimist for a topic
Personally, as much as I'd like to see the CFL again this year - I think they're underestimating the impact injuries have on this situation. Football is a violent sport, what happens when a player gets hurt? Normally you'd fly in another body, and the other guy would recover on IR or whatever... under COVID though... imagine you have a linemen go down you'd have to... 1) Fly in a new player, potentially exposing the entire league to COVID, not only that said player would have to self-quarantine 2) Retain a much higher level of reserve players in your initial 'bubble', likely ballooning salary costs for the league that's already suffering 3) Coax Nik Lewis out of retirement.2 points -

Black Lives Matter
blue_gold_84 reacted to Tracker for a topic
There have been literally hundreds of thousands of protestors in hundreds of rallies all over the world, not just in the US and there have been a few dozen instigators of violence, so that does not mean you give a blanket condemnation of all as violent, Antifa means "anti-fascist" and how many killings have been linked to them? By comparison, those on the right wing have resorted to many incidents of attacks and killings and the victims of those attacks have included police. The issue is the unwarranted arrests, harassings, beatings and killings of coloured (non-caucasian) by police who consider themselves above the law, rather than enforcing the law (without fear or favour). The police have long been held in high esteem and the public has been quick to give them the benefit of the doubt in incidents, but the police have the same percentage or higher of racists, rapists, and violent offenders as the public. Down in the States, the numbers are way higher. And you are not the only bunyak here,1 point -

Hey I am just saying it's rarely a systemic issue and more of a people in charge issue. People are naturally greedy fucks and will use any kind of framework to further their greedy, power hungry ways. Which is where the whole point of being praggmatic and trying to do what's best for everyone comes in.1 point -

In the 5 day average, Manitoba is at a 0.16% infection rate. Roussin says an infection rate of 2-3% would be cause for concern in MB. Manitoba needs to maintain social distancing, mask-wearing, hand-washing, etc to ensure they don't see a rise into dangerous territory.1 point

Burris is deserving as is Childress and Huffer. Don't know enough about Brock. As for Burris, I will always remember going to the 2003 LDC and Burris had just rejoined the Riders. Fans are chanting to put him in and he eventually goes in and stinks (Winnipeg won that day 36-18). Fans start chanting to take Burris out and our group starts chanting to keep him in.1 point -

Just to cheer everyone up, lets remember that time in 1912 Teddy Roosevelt was shot and did the following: - Survived - Convinced the mob of supporters not to harm the assassin. - Gave his speech anyways (which was 84 minutes btw) - Mocked the assassination attempt as part of his opening https://www.businessinsider.com/teddy-roosevelt-assassination-attempt-2017-6 Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful in his bid, but still, pretty cool story.1 point -

Favourite Non Bomber
Eternal optimist reacted to TrueBlue4ever for a topic
What's really ridiculous is how some here go on and on about how terrible Riderfans is because they engage in militant groupthink and ban people who don't fall all over the Riders and want to talk about other teams, yet display the same insecurity here by criticizing a topic that dares go outside the Bomber boundaries. But I digress: BC - Nick Hebeler was a pretty funny guy, Darren Flutie who I first thought was simply riding on his brother's coattails actually had quite a good career playing without Doug throwing to him, Lulay is as tough as they come, respected Pierce and Harris before they became Bombers Edmonton - Brian Kelly was clutch and just looked like he worked harder on every play than everyone else, maybe because he looked smaller on the field. Warren Moon gets the Gretzky treatment - hated him when he regularly torched the Bombers, have massive respect for how good he was now that he's gone. Calgary - Doug Flutie was a big CFL booster throughout his time here and never talked down the league even after he went back to the NFL. Seemed to genuinely appreciate the second chance he got up here. Saskatchewan - Ray Elgaard was frustrating in how he "cheated" off the line of scrimmage on seemingly every play and never got called for it, but I'll credit him for one great awards show speech he gave. The year Dunigan and Flutie were up for MOP and both presented an award earlier, they did the usual pre-award banter and Dunigan finished by saying "OK do you think we've done enough suckholing now, should we get on with giving the award?". So Elgaard later wins Outstanding Canadian and starts the usual list of thank you's, then says "I also want to thank Matt Dunigan for setting the bar and making it acceptable for me to use the word "suckhole" in my acceptance speech. And while we're on that topic, I want to acknowledge the Football Reporters of Canada who voted for me" Hamilton - Clements, DiPietro. Love Neil Lumsden as a colour guy, especially when he pairs up with Irving when the Bombers play the Cats in Hamilton. Toronto - Already picked Pinball, Carl Brazley was a good guy and always got into a friendly banter with opposing fans without it ever being mean spirited, O'Shea and Dan Ferrone always showed class in speaking about their opponents. Ottawa - JC Watts, Tony Gabriel Montreal - Calvillo also gets the Gretzky treatment, but super humble and classy and who can root against someone who battled cancer and had to watch his wife go through the same thing?1 point
