The Liberals can funnel 43 million to a charity that's seemingly not a charity but not help a Canadian institution? Assholes.

  2. that is absolutely perfectly fine.....the NFL can go f*** itself. I don't want their help and the strings that would likely come with it.

This is a friggin slap in the face for the CFL, all teams, all fans, restaurants and businesses who benefit from game days in and around the respective cities. I truly hope the respective media takes up this plight and get the fans involved in protesting this stupidity. There’s a lot involved beyond merely football games, and it looks like short sighted politicians are not exclusive to the US. This is BS and fans should let it be known they’re not pleased...

Wow! So the federal government has become an ATM for Trudeau friends and family, but Fat Tony when it comes to the CFL. Nice.

  5. Good discussion around this topic. It's a really complex issue because I agree that the 1 year CFL contracts for players then walking to the NFL is not working as a long term CFL strategy. Tough for teams to manage, sucks for fans. And, I agree that the NFL really doesn't have any interest in financially compensating the CFL in any way. Realistically, what incentive does the NFL have to compensate the CFL in any way? With increasing practice roster sizes and hundreds of new college players coming out every year, why do they need any type of "farm system"? And honestly, it's not as if the CFL typically provides them with elite NFL talent. The Cameron Wake's are very rare. Mostly CFL players who make the NFL end up at the bottom of a team's roster. Easily replaced by a late round NFL draft pick or a UDFA. I'm not criticizing anyone's take on this. It's a complicated issue. The CFL has to figure out a better model for building revenue and retaining players on it's own.

Typical bullshit favouritism. A $40M-ish loan to keep the CFL alive is apparently out of the question but it's totally alright to continue bailing out greedy airlines, shady energy companies, corrupt banks and lenders, archaic media corporations, and greasy communications providers - often getting nothing in return while lobbyist jerkoffs cry for more. Unless taxpayers getting constantly bent over by these same fuckers counts as a return. How utterly ******* pathetic.

  9. You're both bang on about the CFL and CFLPA. I'm sure both have some responsibility in how fractured the relationship is, but, it has to stop. This is a pro league teetering on the edge. It's collaborate or die really. Ambrosie certainly deserves the criticism he's getting, but, I still think his CFL 2.0 global player idea had some potential as a revenue source pre-COVID. Untapped potential TV, streaming fan bases if a few global players actually became CFL stars.

too many people think it's still the 1970s.... size is important but speed and puck movement trumps size every time... I'd take a small, good skating puck mover over a big bruiser any day... although, I'd rather have a guy that's both (Byfuglien 😥)

I just think the most LIKELY government to support this would be the Grits.....I mean, there's less than 0 chance the Con's would EVER hand out money to ANYTHING, especially the CFL. **** on Trudeau for a conflict of interest situation all you want, but they were by far the most likely group to support this. If they wouldn't, nobody would. Soooooo....... it is what it is. Cancel the season...whatever. I believe the teams that matter will find a way to exist when this is all over.

I don't see the big deal of this, kids absolutely love big machines like this so why not? When our community club has its summer celebration they usually have police, fire, medical , construction , farm vehicles for kids to climb in and take pictures with and it's a huge hit.

  27. The CFL and CFLPA most develop a better working relationship-partnership. This latest example of what appears to be an adversarial relationship is simply another example of how unproductive it continues to be.

  28. One for one sure, but it's nice to have a mix of both in the group.

  29. Exactly. That’s why discussion is necessary from fans, players, GMs, etc to get the ball rolling. It certainly doesn’t look like we will be having a season, and right now, that might be best. The CFL and CFLPA can open up new dialogue over the coming months, and maybe, just maybe, the Gov. will be there to assist in the future. Whatever happens, most everything that is discussed should be made available to the fans, the heart of the League, even if it takes new involvement at the League office.

  30. Even to have a guy like Chiarot on the back end would be nice. That physical presence is nice to have in situations where the netfront needs to be cleared to prevent a goal like the one Roussel scored the other night.

  39. I only watched the first two periods, but thought the Jets were dominated in the 1st, and Helle kept them in it. The second, they really took it to Vanny and it showed. I really love that Lowry line. Always making something happen out there.

  40. A few at best border line but more realistically dirty guys like dave donaldson (i feel like he must have the team record for UR flags) kyries hebert, and brandon dyson (a shame as he had legit talent). A few guys that created sour notes especially on leaving, tj heath (as much for selfish play to the point of being a liability), korey banks, arland bruce, and for a mix of both groups brian clark. (loved his talent and work ethic but he did some real dirt bag stuff) Some why are they still playing guys like ejiro kuale, hurl, and too many guys at the end of dave ritchies time here. Over hyped under achievers, wayne mcgarrity, incompleterson, kerwin bell, and way too many qbs to count. Overachievers and role players i loved watching play, geoff drover, wade miller, matt sheridan, Guys with under rated careers, harold nash, anthony marlbrough, brett macniel Every one loves the greats like milt and blink etc So some random guys. Westwood. I always thought he was a lousy kicker and a high strung player. Though i enjoyed him on 1290. Keith stokes was wildly entertaining but a selfish ass. Terrence edwards deserves all the blue and gold love in the world. Kevin glenn always seemed to find a way to disappoint. I loved watching KD williams play, and elfrid payton as well (despite peytons various flaws) Especially loved mike sellers, he ruined watching FBs for me. I always hope we dig up another one and it just doesnt and wont happen. Especially dislike all the guys who gave up on the team. Guys who no showed while under contract with out a call, and the extremely talented / athletic guys who just didnt seem to want it bad enough.
