    Covid-19

Not sure how the definitions apply in Manitoba, but there are lots of stories in the States about long-haulers who are technically considered "recovered". I believe that means they are either no longer considered to be contagious or they have been released from the hospital if treatment was required. Many of them are still too sick to work.

  5. That is the problem with bringing politics into the game. People will never agree & anger ensues. I think national anthems should be a thing of the past along with flags.

  6. The first 20 minutes was all political crap. A line of millionaires linking arms on the field isn't going to accomplish anything. One team didn't come out for the anthem. Fans booed. The talking heads trying to say something intelligent about politics, when that's not their strength or interest. I totally respect and support their right to protest, but personally, I could do without politics in sports. I preferred the kneeling during the National Anthem because it made the same point, annoyed the Trump-ettes and didn't add any time to the football game. Now that you bring it up, I could do without the National Anthem too. Being proud that you completely randomly happened to have been born on a specific piece of soil has always struck me as silly.

  7. No, not the football we normally watch but it was great to watch football again. The Chiefs did look mighty fine and their rookie running back gives them another weapon. I trust Buck was watching the game because there were a few innovative plays they used that we could incorporate into out offence.

    Covid-19

Yes, that was the case for me, my test came back negative. It’s not just asymptomatic but also not having travelled and not having contact with a known case.

  9. For the NFL fans here. Just because we've had no football to talk about for 10 months. The only thing we have is the NFL. I want to at least talk about football. The Chiefs look like the real deal again while the Texans look like also rans so the football world is unfolding the way it should. They had 15,000 fans at Arrowhead Stadium this evening & the social distancing & masking didn't look good. I think they should have played the games this season without fans in the stands. If anything derails this season it'll be Covid. If a lot of fans get sick the season will be over.

  11. KCs new running back made me go "oh...OH damn!" on his TD run. That was a thing of beauty. Hard to believe that O got better, but if they continue to run the ball that well they will be very hard to beat. Also I did not start Watkins on my fantasy team...and I'm kinda regretting it. wait does this new site update auto add new posts to the last one you made.... Oh it does...that's neat...

    Covid-19

Yes, of course, I didn't mean to suggest that everyone who had been infected was better. That was poor phrasing on my part. I meant that it was good that fewer people were contagious to spread the virus and overall the communities that were in grave danger are getting better. We don't understand the long term health affects of this virus yet and some indications are that they may be severe.

Mainly due to the run of huge daily counts (50+) from a couple of weeks ago being deemed as "recovered", but excellent news indeed.

How Big Oil Misled The Public Into Believing Plastic Would Be Recycled September 11, 2020 Laura Leebrick, a manager at Rogue Disposal & Recycling in southern Oregon, is standing on the end of its landfill watching an avalanche of plastic trash pour out of a semitrailer: containers, bags, packaging, strawberry containers, yogurt cups. None of this plastic will be turned into new plastic things. All of it is buried. "To me that felt like it was a betrayal of the public trust," she said. "I had been lying to people ... unwittingly." Rogue, like most recycling companies, had been sending plastic trash to China, but when China shut its doors two years ago, Leebrick scoured the U.S. for buyers. She could find only someone who wanted white milk jugs. She sends the soda bottles to the state. But when Leebrick tried to tell people the truth about burying all the other plastic, she says people didn't want to hear it. "I remember the first meeting where I actually told a city council that it was costing more to recycle than it was to dispose of the same material as garbage," she says, "and it was like heresy had been spoken in the room: You're lying. This is gold. We take the time to clean it, take the labels off, separate it and put it here. It's gold. This is valuable." But it's not valuable, and it never has been. And what's more, the makers of plastic — the nation's largest oil and gas companies — have known this all along, even as they spent millions of dollars telling the American public the opposite. 18. I agree with the second part of the statement about the anthem. It seems pointless. I don't agree with about the players. They have a platform and many of them have experienced racial injustice. Human rights is not political in my mind, it's a basic human necessity, like food and clean water, access to healthcare, etc. Politics has always been in sports because sports reflects society. The same as the arts.

Donald Trump has been widely mocked after playing Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s ‘Fortunate Son’ when arriving at a campaign rally in Michigan. (“Some folks are born, silver spoon in hand”)The 1969 track was released at the height of the Vietnam war and offers a scathing take on military deferments and the safe positions that were offered to well-connected individuals at a time when millions of Americans were being drafted to the front line.Singer John Fogerty previously said of the track: “The song speaks more to the unfairness of class than war itself. It’s the old saying about rich men making war and poor men having to fight them.”https://www.nme.com/news/music/donald-trump-mocked-for-absolute-irony-of-playing-fortunate-son-at-rally-2750668
