You are. 1) It was the senate, which was Democrat held, and not the Obama administration, that used the nuclear option. Different branches of Government 2) Harry Reid changed the rules for filibustering to simple majority, but deliberately not the Supreme Court appointment. The filibuster was being abused by Republicans to block all of Obama’s appointments for lower court judges and cabinet positions. The Dems specifically left the Supreme Court pick at a 60 vote threshold. It was Mitch McConnell in 2017 who used the nuclear option to change the SCOTUS threshold to simple majority, expanding what the Dems had done but clearly changing the game himself in this aspect. 3) Maybe they don’t voice their opinions at the confirmation hearing itself (although Kavanagh cited a radical liberal Clinton conspiracy at his hearing and vowed payback - nice impartiality there Judge) because it would be suicide, but many Judges are pretty overt in their political leanings well before they are appointed. And the high court decided an election in 2000, so to say the court doesn’t weigh in on politics is patently false.5 points -

Trump questioned whether or not he qualified to be President because he was born in Canada, which is obviously quite different from suggesting that Obama was lying about where he was born, saying that he was born in Kenya. (Because he's black and should never have been voted president) No one has questioned where Cruz was born just whether or not it makes him ineligible to hold the office of President. Trying to compare the two is ridiculous alt-right stuff.4 points

My wife watches Hallmark movies and literally they are all interchangeable with the exact same beautiful white female lead with perfect hair who lives in a massive house that's immaculately decorated and clean all while being a single mother. She meets a guy who is clean shaven also in perfect shape with a male model face who is sweet and who she never appreciates until 10 minutes left at the end of the movie when she realizes that true happiness is being who she is and with that guy who loves her for who she is. She will then either decline taking that corporate job in the big city and/or dump her current boyfriend who doesn't truly love her and either way end up with the male model and everyone is happy. It appears that they use different actors but I can never tell them apart they all look the same. I think I've seen her watch at least 20 movies from hallmark with that exact same plot.4 points -
"The Justice Department sued Donald Trump, his father, Fred, and Trump Management in order to obtain a settlement in which Trump and his father would promise not to discriminate. The case eventually was settled two years later after Trump tried to countersue the Justice Department for $100 million for making false statements. Those allegations were dismissed by the court." https://www.npr.org/2016/09/29/495955920/donald-trump-plagued-by-decades-old-housing-discrimination-case In 1989, a white investment banker was raped and left for dead in Central Park. Five black and brown teenagers, including 15-year-old Salaam, were charged with her rape. Two weeks after the attack, before any of the kids had faced trial, Trump took out a full-page advert in multiple New York papers calling for the death penalty. His inflammatory stunt is credited with prejudicing public opinion and contributing to the Central Park Five – now known as the Exonerated Five – going to prison for something they didn’t do. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/aug/31/yusef-salaam-trump-would-have-had-me-hanging-from-a-tree-in-central-park Privately, the president had often talked about fortifying a border wall with a water-filled trench, stocked with snakes or alligators, prompting aides to seek a cost estimate. He wanted the wall electrified, with spikes on top that could pierce human flesh. After publicly suggesting that soldiers shoot migrants if they threw rocks, the president backed off when his staff told him that was illegal. But later in a meeting, aides recalled, he suggested that they shoot migrants in the legs to slow them down. That’s not allowed either, they told him. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/10/02/trumps-most-insulting-violent-language-is-often-reserved-immigrants/ He's a racist. Period.3 points

Implying that obama was bad? What is that based on? Look Bush and Trump have been absolute disasters as president. Obama did a lot of work to try and fix the messes Bush left hiwever he had ti deal with an obstructionist republican controlled senate for a lot of that. Obama tried to work with the other side and they only wanted to stonewall him.3 points

Ok, but what makes this lady a candidate that the republicans are so desperate to seat other than her politics? You want politics out of the process? I completely agree however this candidate is 100% a political one so stop trying to pretend it is the democrats injecting politics into it. It is all on the republicans (specifically Trump who nominated her)3 points

Have seen on the news that some people are waiting 10-11 hours to vote. That seems comical for the “worlds greatest superpower” for people have to wait that long. What’s the longest you have ever waited to vote. Since I have lived in mostly rural areas I usually just walked in and voted. Even the few times I voted in Winnipeg I was in and out in 15 min.3 points

"Lies travel six times faster than the truth." There is truth to this. I thought this was the best place to post this article. It is trumps mantra of "fake news", his use of lies and distortions of reality and has been used mostly for politicalization and division. It's sad, but if someone is working paycheque to paycheque with a part-time job (or 2) with no paid sick days, it becomes a little more easy to understand. As much as I hate when people act like heroes by coming into my white collar work environment sick, consider that COVID-19 effects the poorest among us the most. It's a matter of survival one way or the other for many.2 points

The thing is, it doesn't have to be 2 or 3 months. Twice the virus lifecycle is all that's really required to flatten the curve and get things under control. That's only 28 days. If we don't shut down soon, the hospitals are going to get crushed.2 points

the thing you need to realize is that "Cruz" is not really a white guy name. There lots of racism in America directed at people with the name "Cruz." You may have heard about the ICE raids and the border wall... Yes, I know that Ted Cruz is a mongrel of Irish, Italian, Cuban, and Carribean descent, and he was born in Canada. "Mexican name and not born in the USA" is something that resonates with the Trump base regardless of the details, and I very much doubt that Trump would've worked the birther angle against a candidate named Ted Crews.2 points

That is laughable. Don’t know if you are trying to fool yourself, but that argument doesn’t fool me. Trump mentioned the question of Cruz’s birthplace twice that I can find. Once in March of 2015 when they both announced their candidacy and he noted what everyone knew - that Cruz was born in Canada and so legally it could raise questions in court that could take time (BTW legal scholars seem to have consensus that “natural born” extends beyond “born in the USA” and Cruz would have qualified). He mentioned it once again in January 2016 when they were both front runners. His motivation then seemed clear enough in that he was looking for an advantage over a political rival. His attacks on Obama lasted 5 years and were based on no more speculation than his patented “some very credible people say” assertion with no source and no proof. And he was never running against Obama, it was a pure baseless claim motivated by......what exactly? Here is a timeline: https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-trump-birther-timeline-20160916-snap-htmlstory.html I understand that you don’t like the corporate controlled mainstream media and their biases, but your internet based “news” sources are no less biased and are often just random opinion blogs from wannabe celebs in the dark corners of the net with little to no fact-checking undertaken. Slanted bias of a fact-checked story is one thing, unsubstantiated rumour mongering, which was the Obama birtherism in a nutshell, is quite another.2 points -

Initially I agreed with this assessment... But I think upon further review, Biden will tilt more left in a lot of his policies. I think the Biden campaign is not promoting a more progressive agenda before the election to tamp out any accusations of socialism and all that ****. Not Bernie Left, but more "right of Elizabeth Warren progressive". Regardless- it will be refreshing to get competent people in key positions again.... There is a lot to criticize on Obama. Ramping up the Drone Strike program. Handling of Flint water crisis. Mishandling of the ACA roll out SLow walking on Judicial nominees- then republicans took the senate and house and made it nearly impossible... Failure to crack down on Wall street. Don't get me wrong- he was probably the best POTUS of my life time, but still very imperfect.2 points -

I’m not going to even try and debate your point about him refusing to do so because it’s insulting , you are beyond convincing otherwise on this issue and in my opinion that reasoning is ludicrous. But please, justify his “shithole countries” comment without using the words xenophobia or locker room talk, and then justify his Obama birther nonsense. I would be fascinated by the spin doctoring there, much like being enthralled driving past a car crash. Really, you are honestly saying you had never heard of Trump disbanding Obama’s pandemic response team? Either you are dodging the issue knowing you can’t defend your position in the face of this counter-argument, or you are massively uninformed given how often it has been brought up in pretty much Every mainstream media outlet. And if it genuinely the latter, then you have just lost your footing on every other argument you have made, since you would have to admit to being equally uninformed on tons of other Trump issues.2 points -

Again, people with no sick days are going to try to work because no work means no pay. No pay means no food on the table, bills don't get paid or being able to pay rent. Unless the symptoms are obvious they won't stay home. They'll get pilloried for being selfish asshats while someone working in a union who get paid for being sick will just put their feet up & say, "Meh.... maybe a couple of more days". Most working poor are a paycheque & a half from living on the street.1 point -

You are right, some workplaces have created that culture with bosses who shame their employees for taking time off. I will admit that in my younger days, I did some of it myself, but as I've aged, I've realized that I don't want to be around people who are sick at work, and they probably feel the same way (for the most part).1 point
