Lawler was our leading receiver last year. He's got 1000 yards written all over him now that he's an established player. I'd hate to lose him after two years of development.7 points

Rogers struggled at times. He would miss an entire week of practice but Dickenson would insert him in the lineup last minute. He's never been 100% as a player since he was injured & came back. He's had a lot of "maintenance days" with the Stamps where he wouldn't even be at practice as he stayed home resting. He's older, Now he's missed an entire season. As a guy who suffered a similar injury to Rogers years ago & had a knee replacement in 2019, I know that these type of bad knee injures never get better with rest. They get worse with age as the knee joint deteriorates & arthritis sets in. He may feel fine now with time off but the daily pounding of practice & games eventually takes its toll. An 18 game season is a long process. Plus he's one bad tackle or hit from being finished as a player. He was a phenomenal receiver & may have still been playing with the Niners still had he not been injured. He's not the same player he was a few years ago. So, should he get a huge CFL salary in these financially unsure days? Any team that pays him will be taking on a big risk. John Hufnagel is very good at knowing when it's time to replace aging & expensive veterans. When it's time to go. We'll see if that happens.2 points -
Not a lot of holes to fill, only 4 (projected) starter spots remains vacant as of the moment RG - still waiting for Neufeld or Speller; Gray and Eli (and a draft pick) may have the opportunity SB - Lawler is a free-agent and maybe looking for other opportunities elsewhere. We also have lots of receivers on the roster. Rogers and Ellingson will be available in free-agency though DT - still waiting for Richardson; there are new guys on the roster. how 'bout a free-agent DT? Boundary HB - Sayles moved on so do we. Who we got from our new guys? or are we waiting for a veteran DB in free-agency?2 points

From Farhan Lalji on Twitter... Shocked to hear that Adam Bighill’s contract for 2021 is 115k (down from 260k). I know he has strong business interests in Winnipeg, but is speaks volumes for the atmosphere Mike O’Shea has created with #Bombers that a player would take that much less to stay there. @CFLonTSN 1/2 ...and if there is an off-season GM of the year award, it goes to Kyle Walters. @andrewharris33, @Bighill44, @Stmn_Willie_Bmn, @Demski9, @ZCollaros7, Bryant, Hardrick, Gray, Antigha, Jeffcoat, Thomas, Maston all back under manageable deals. Most of the heavy lifting already done!2 points -
Wonder if his age and the fact well it's been a year without playing was a factor. Love AH33 but.. he's not a young guy anymore.1 point

Cold. Since his knee injury he hasn't been able to play or practice a full season. Do you pay a guy (in a tough market financially) full price for maybe 10 games a season & having to be rested to make a playoff run?? What if he's needed down the stretch to get into the playoffs & then can't compete at 100% in the playoffs? I know John Hufnagel is thinking the same thing. That has to be a big reason he hasn't signed yet.1 point -
Pretty sure Richardson, Exume and Lucky are all back in fold this year, just a matter of the higher priced guys needing to restructure first to see what we have to play with. I'd like to think Meddy is gonna chill for a while, but is only a phone call away if needed...I know he's been training like he normally would tho, so could be wrong there. With Gray, Desjarlais, Couture, Eli all in the fold with the 2 tackles it's gonna be one of Speller or Nuefeld, tho seeing what Biggie did to stay here. I could easily see Neufeld doing the exact same, as thats the type of guy he is, and he loves it here. Peterman will be back east..too bad, but can't keep them all and he is a luxury more than a need..and no room for him and he isn't displacing Woli or Demski and signing the U of M kid kinda leads to him being the cheaper backup1 point

If you can keep Laine protected on the second line because the top line matches up the other team's checking line, you're golden all year long. That's why splitting 55 and 29 is a good thing. He can get just as many minutes and just as many scoring opportunities on the 2nd line. If they start running the checking line out against 29, that gives the "top" line more chances.1 point

Peterman is a guy I really want back, but if I was him, I'd absolutely be looking at FA as a way to find a starting role. The guy is good enough to be a starting WR/SB in this league, but is stuck behind some pretty good players in Wpg.1 point

So Farhan tweeted this: @FarhanLaljiTSN @Stmn_Willie_Bmn got a 205K contract with 100K signing bonus and it wasn't acrimonious. I'm surprised he didn't get more. It's a pretty good deal for Winnipeg." To which Jefferson replied Yea man we just trying to build a dynasty over here!!!! I just love this tweet and Jefferson.1 point -

Fajardo has figured out how to read CFL defenses & finding the extra 12th man which means he's a legit starter. I mean, we're expecting the same big things from Sean McGuire as a fanbase ourselves. I've seen qbs who initially struggled become productive starters & champions. Some guys take longer than others. Just playing Devil's Advocate here & giving the other side of the story. I've seen inexperienced qbs who initially looked lost on the field suddenly figure it out & become league champions, award winners & all stars. If anyone here remembers Dieter Brock's first start against Edmonton in 1974 you know what I mean.1 point -
