Over the past four years and in the last four months in particular, the GOP jackholes have been installing "their people" in every position of authority that they could- in the judiciary, the intelligence agencies, the civil service and so forth. This is going to provide the Biden administration with a very difficult problem. In effect, the Trump people have tried to create what they railed against but was nonexistent- a "deep state" that seeks to undermine the policies of the administration. The only way this can be changed is that all of the Trump appointees need to be scrutinized and removed where necessary.2 points

2021 (??) CFL Season
Goalie and one other reacted to blue_gold_84 for a topic
Nah, just one. Nichols is still living seemingly rent free in your head despite the fact he's not a part of the WFC anymore. You were the one who chose to bring him up in this thread, for no apparent reason other than to deflect from the Riders' going all in on Fajardo. Hell, it would've made more sense to bring up Collaros considering the Bombers "went all in" on him despite his injury history. With Nichols, the Bombers didn't "kick him to the curb," unless you think letting a free agent walk qualifies as such. In which case that would also apply to Nevis and Roh who were not re-signed. But that's total nonsense. The Bombers had to choose between him or Collaros and they chose the latter. Whether or not it was the correct decision remains to be seen. It isn't like Collaros is the model of QB health, either. In four games played, Collaros didn't outperform Nichols. The former averaged 213 passing yards, 69.1 comp. %, and 1 TD per game in 2019. He was brought in to solidify the QB position because Streveler alone wasn't getting the job done through the air. Competent QBing is all the team needed on its championship run and that's what Collaros provided. What's to be gained by posting such bullshit revisionist history and derailing this thread with such useless comments?2 points -
I'd feel a lot better about losing Stove if we still had Nevis. Those two are just chaos in the middle....2 points

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/erin-otoole-conservative-party-donald-trump-1.5878211 Pretty solid analysis, IMO. O'Toole and the CPC as a whole need to distance themselves from GOP-esque style politics, and that could be challenging with members like Sloan, Lewis, and Poilievre in the mix, spouting conspiracy theories and other divisive garbage we've seen south of the 49th the last several years. As party leader, O'Toole has to either rein them in or simply get rid of them. The margin for error is too thin and I don't think he can afford to waver, either with his message or his actions. The CPC seems like a rudderless ship these days and O'Toole hasn't done anything to fix that. A strong, or at least competent opposition, regardless of the party, is important in holding the party in power to account in Canadian politics. O'Toole has his work cut out for him and time doesn't appear to be on his side. I just hope, with the end of Trump's presidency, we'll see that style of "politics" fizzle out here in Canada. There's absolutely no need for that ****, regardless of the scale.2 points -

can easily carry both...Augustine was very good on teams last year, and is a more than adequate back-up in a pinch, Oliveira as well was rostered on ST's to start the season where he got hurt, and would be adequate to back-up2 points -

My final word on Trump the president, he tried to divide and succeeded, he didn't want to continue doing the job that was needed by the POTUS but he needed it's protections and wanted to be a King, tomorrow he leaves in disgrace with none of the class of defeated presidents of the past to be investigated for the rest of his miserable life, taking a long walk of a short pier and disappearing is to much to ask for but for the sake of America his crimes and those of all his enablers and those that protected him need to be investigated, Pence, McConnell, Barr, Blanche and little Hitler are at the top of the list followed by Kushner, Mnuchin, McLiar, McCarthy, Meadows and Pompeo, then the healing can begin1 point -

2021 CFL Entry Draft
Colin Unger reacted to Booch for a topic
highly doubt we pick an o-lineman with our first...we go best player available who isn't NFL camp fodder...I almost think we may not even pick one this year until late, if at all When you have Neuf..Desjarlais..Couture..Gray..Eli and possibly Speller all in house and only at most 4 of them rostered there's no need, especially when other than Neufeld they are all 26 or under and we also have Kolankowski in the mix, who has CFL game experience and is only 28 I see us targeting a DT then DB/linebacker types and receivers1 point -
Are you me? That's exactly what I was thinking. Even when we lose Speller, we're pretty deep. We'll probably have to go out and replace Bryant at some point but we're not drafting an LT.1 point

Dozen National Guardsmen Pulled From Biden Inauguration Security Detail -Getty Two National Guard soldiers assigned to Washington, D.C., ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration have been removed over “inappropriate” posts or texts about the event, officials said Tuesday. Ten additional National Guard members have also been pulled from the Capitol security detail, though for reasons unrelated to the Jan. 6 insurrection. The Associated Press reported that all 12 troops had expressed extremist views online or else been tied to far-right militias, though the story did not identify which state the Guard members were from, nor what militia groups they were allegedly involved with. At least one of the 12 individuals removed from the assignment was flagged by way of a tip line, Pentagon officials said at a Tuesday briefing. On Monday, Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller said there was “no intelligence indicating an insider threat” to Wednesday’s inauguration ceremony, but added that law enforcement would be vetting National Guard personnel. A senior National Guard official suggested the vetting process amounted to the FBI canvassing social-media posts. My only concern is that many people are going to go shopping just for the sake to get out rather then shopping only out of need. I can see a tonne of the old seniors crowding the stores because they have nothing better to do which will then impact the people who actually need to purchase goods. (Costco)1 point

with what we have done so far now with the Neufeld signing I would be fine with us not even really looking at anyone really in free agency as I believe we already made some nice pick-ups (Antighua..Awe..Otha Peters) and focus on getting Richardson, Lucky, Exume and Grant. The other pending foot soldiers are just a bonus but several on the list won't be missed I like what O'leary Orange can bring us in place of Peterman..no room for him now and as a tenured guy will cost more and will want a chance to start I think we will be very pleased with scouted guys at receiver with McKay and Stewart and possibly Ross (One I really intrigued with) and having McCallister back is gonna give us 3 edge guys who can cause havoc and curious to see what Boynton will do...no real room in this backfield when we have Alexander, Taylor, Jones, Johnson, Maston all back as proven starters And no need to have to fill any o-line holes with bigger ticket free agency guys which will cost us....When you have a group of Neufeld, Couture, Desjarlais, Eli, Gray and possibly a Speller all sandwiched between a Bryant and a Hardrick...well you have what our green neighbors out west "claimed" to have..an utter embarrassment of riches1 point

Hopefully, Lawler gets done fast and Richardson-Bombers can find a mutually agreeable figure. Based on all the players getting locked up, there may not be a lot of player movement this offseason. This is a bit of guess but it seems like more players have re-signed with their teams.1 point -

I dont see us carrying both on the roster with their limited special teams skill sets respectively. I think demski gets a bunch of carries as well as our returner di type of choice, while one of the 2 is rostered and gets some. If oliveira is healthy I dont see augustine stealing many reps. I also wouldnt be surprised if we brought in another ni back for camp. Maybe more of a fb/te guy. I feel like every year we see more and more american style NI TEs available. This team certainly seems to value versatility, I could see a multi threat TE doing really well here. (sellers 2.0)1 point -
