I don't really understand what sort of leverage people think that Walters had with Speller? On Sunday, he can talk to any team and it's clear he's headed back East. Walters got something for nothing.10 points

This. GM was way, way ahead of the curve back in late 90s with its revolutionary EV1 but GM's own shortsightedness at the time, coupled with influence from the fossil fuel industry* on the US gov't, ultimately led to its demise. GM could've been a global leader in electric vehicles but greed snuffed out that possibility. GM only put its foot in its mouth further by pretending it made the right call back then (after Who Killed the Electric Car was released), until Rick Wagoner admitted he'd made a mistake by canceling the EV1, albeit in hindsight. For that, I say **** General Motors. * based on fear and stupidity, IMO3 points -

didnt start that many games at center, Our starter..Couture who is the better of the 2 is back, and we have 5 other Canadians on roster..3 of whom are 26, one 28 and Neuf fighting for 2 starter spots so we good. Draft another rookie for the pipeline and theres no issue at all. Of the 4 youngest we had, Speller was probably 4th on the totem pole..Desjarlais was already a proven really good starter in yr 1 and will only get better, especially playing beside Bryant and Eli probably has the most upside of all the 4 kids next to Gray. Gotta remember lineman take up a lot of your SMS and having too many 2nd and 3rd year contract guys can gut your roster elsewhere3 points

By all accounts Speller is not going to re-sign and early on there was a rumour that Argos will pursue him in FA. I guess it's not a rumour anymore. So, instead of losing him in free-agency why not at least getting something than nothing. Plus, Bombers has no leverage on this trade. Walters: Hi Pinball I want to trade you Speller I know you need a good versatile OL. Pinball: What do you want for him? Walters: I want at least a 3rd rounder. Pinball: No. We will just wait till he hit free-agency but thank you for asking. Pinball whispering: We already talked to him and we already have an agreement. 😁3 points

The point of the carbon tax and generally raising the price of petroleum is to encourage people and corporations to use the petroleum products more wisely. We do not need big honking SUVs. or poorly insulated buildings or leave lights on all the time. Persuasion is well and fine, but financial pressure is effective. You get more with a kind word and a gun than you get with a kind word.2 points -

Point out a single aspect of the LPC's climate policies that actually qualify as insane. And the "bUt ThE eConOmY" narrative isn't it. As @JCon pointed out, the pandemic doesn't give two shits about our economic activity, be it here or anywhere in the world. And it's not about just cutting off petroleum like some ripping off a bandaid or going cold turkey. It's about transitioning away from petroleum to better and renewable options, ones that don't harm the planet.2 points -

DETROIT - In about three years, Navistar plans to start selling low-emission hydrogen-powered heavy trucks under a partnership with General Motors and a small distribution company called OneH2. The venture announced Wednesday is an early commercial deployment of the technology in U.S. long-haul trucking. Navistar hopes it will start widespread use of hydrogen-electric trucks, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions that come from burning diesel fuel. GM will provide fuel cell “power cubes” to Navistar, while OneH2 will set up fueling stations either by trucking hydrogen to terminals or through small hydrogen generation units, the companies said in a statement. 800 k range 15 minute refill for sale 2024. next... farm machinery. https://apnews.com/press-release/pr-newswire/business-technology-alternative-and-sustainable-energy-products-and-services-fuel-cell-technology-bcc25797d37d1e1636e42383f425a5101 point

In order to get to zero emissions by 2050, which is 10, 568 days from now, you need to replace 22 TW of energy generating capacity or 2.1 GW/day from now until 2050: • One 2.1 gigawatt (GW, 109 watts) nuclear power plant each and every day until 2050, OR • 3000 two-megawatt (MW, 106 watts) wind turbines each and every day until 2050 plus a 2.1 GW nuclear power plant every day and a half until 2050, assuming there’s not one turbine failure for any reason, OR • 96 square miles (250 square kilometres) of solar panels each and every day until 2050 plus a 2.1 GW nuclear power plant every day and a half until 2050, assuming not one of the panels fails or is destroyed by hail or wind. I sincerely hope that everyone can see that any of those alternatives are not just impossible. They are pie-in-the-sky, flying unicorns, bull-goose looney impossible.1 point -

Refusing to face the change that is happening in energy is folly. oil is a curse. little Denmark has a very large wind energy industry, cause 25 years ago, they planned for this. Nothing new here. Sarnia, Ontario in the 50's and 60's was referred to as "chemical valley" due to the high number of refineries and chemical plants. The number of kids that contracted COPD (formerly known as asthma ) was 10-20 times higher than the national average and rare cancers appeared there as well. My wife grew up there and suffers from it as well as frequent bouts of bronchitis and even pneumonia. She has also had two occurrences of cancer, which she has beaten, thank God. We all cannot live up upstream.1 point -
