The Jets' blue line is a bit of a yard sale right now. The pairings don't seem to be working, assignments get missed in the D zone, positioning is sketchy, and the puck movement into the neutral zone is awful to watch at times. I thought Beaulieu and Stanley had particularly rough outings last night. That high stick Beaulieu took was lame, even if Gaudreau sold the **** out of it. But how is that called and not Bennett's brutal cross-check on Morrissey moments before?

Bryant Mitchell is literally the only FA I wanted us to sign. Elite receiver. If he’s healthy, he’ll be out WR1 for sure.

The forward lines were experimental in nature last night, which Maurice had stated was his plan prior to the game to balance out ice time. Dubois needed to get his legs under him, so I get the rationale behind what was done. If not for Beaulieu's lousy penalty, the Jets likely get a point last night and the loss stings a lot less. I just hope the line combinations for tomorrow's game are more familiar because there seemed to be a lot of miscommunication last night. Outside of the faceoffs, I thought the forwards played well enough save for a few bumps. If the team could roll lines structured as 1A, 1B, 2, 3, it would help spread things out. The blue line continues to struggle and is easily the Jets' weakness on its roster. Morrissey looks like a shell of himself but that could be due to his pairing partner(s), and DeMelo can't seem to get on track. Those are two big pieces not pulling their weight and it exacerbates the defensive issues more often than not. FWIW, advanced statistics show Forbort is one of the team's better defensemen in his own end; I'd say he's the least of the team's problems on the blue line right now. Beaulieu has been far and away the worst this season and he's been playing too much (cause and effect); maybe some time in the press box could help. He is not a top pairing defenseman and never will be, so why he's expected to play such a role baffles me. Perhaps Heinola is worth another look. I'd also like to see Poolman get back in the lineup and stabilize the back end. I have no idea if Samberg is ready; he's yet to suit up in the NHL. I've never been big on the blender approach to lines or pairings as it rarely seems to work over time and does not foster familiarity of comfort between players. 12 games into this abbreviated season, I think it's time to start stabilizing things, the blue line in particular. These mismatched defender pairings are hard to watch.

If you are wondering if Bryant Mitchell will be a starter on our team than clearly you have forgotten how good a receiver he is. This guy is a stud possession receiver that can also stretch the field. The only way Bailey beats him out is if Mitchell comes in with a NFL hangover attitude, has forgotten how to play, or has lost a step from the Achilles injury. If he is healthy and in the right mind frame he is easily our best receiver now. I don't think it's weird. Rempel is pushing 40, the Bombers have a chance to solidify the LS position for the next 7 years and decide to go that route.

You obviously don't know who Sarah Thomas is, so maybe read up on the individual before posting such bigoted garbage. She's been an official in the NFL since 2015, starting as a line judge and then became a down judge in 2017. She's officiated in over 100 NFL games (both regular season and playoffs). It's almost like officials are imperfect and make bad calls every now and then, regardless of what's dangling between their legs or not.

My only concern is DT...We have Stove who is solid as you can get, and a Rotating Jake but after that it's up in the air, unless they have a TC guy coming unbeknownst to us...There are some Draft prospects this year, but still a raw rookie isn't the answer coming out of the Canadian draft. I'm assuming Griffiths may get some snaps this year, but he isn't gonna be a game changer at this point. I almost sense a more fluid front with one "true" DT and a lot of sets with the 2 Jeffs and one of Antigha/Hansen or possibly McCallister coming from all angles...did us well in the playoffs, and would give O-lines fits

Yea I’m with you on this. For example Stanley’s positioning, especially in front of our own net blocking out opposing players needs work. He’s a big man who seems to be still growing into his body. Once that fully settles I think he’s going to be a good one.

Getting a look in NFL at mini camps is dime a dozen now...means nothing, and 99.8 percent of time amounts to nothing for CIS guys...so thats a moot discussion point Lump out performed Evans...isn't saying much and from what I saw just being on field...getting reps does nothing to give any confidence. I'll take Sarah Thomas over many of the CFL refs. They may have put her in the Super Bowl since the NFL made a big deal about having two females in Tampa being apart of the coaching / conditioning staff to show diversity and to try to win brownie points. Similar to how they force teams to interview black coaches. I do highly doubt though that they would put an unqualified random female just for fun to referee in the league. What I don't understand with the NFL (and other sports) is with the ridiculous amount of cameras they have , why don't they have a few refs in the booth making quick judgement calls to back up the on field refs. So many times it's obvious if someone goes off side why couldn't they radio down to throw the flag.

So a few refs make some bad calls, but because the female ref made one of the questionable calls, you're questioning whether she should have even been there? What about the refs who made the other questionable calls, should they have been working that game? 🤔 In real time, that one looked to me like a good call, but when they showed the replay you could see that the receiver basically tripped on his own feet. The ref who threw the flag (at least the one that I saw) would have had the receiver running straight at him (or her, not sure which ref was in that spot) and it definitely could have looked like he was tripped up by the defender at that angle. Definitely the wrong call was made, but based on the angles, I can see how it might have looked like interference.

Name and shame. But, they probably came back before the new protocols come in. If I read one more sob story piece about snowbirds having troubles getting back into Canada, I'm going to barf.
