Meh. Collaros got cheapshotted last season; hit right in the head. I'm not too worried given our oline. Not many QBs last the season without getting hurt at some point. That applies pretty universally.

Great news. Keep it coming. 15,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine coming each week in March. No word yet on the Moderna supply. Grandma gets her first vaccine on March 4th!

    The Environment Thread

have a look back on this thread and see some of the nonsense posted ...eg "myth...co2 is a pollutant" anyway, "London — UK government-funded tests have concluded successfully on a solid-state battery system that is cobalt-free and costs under half that of comparable lithium-ion technology, project participants told S&P Global Platts Feb. 24." https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/market-insights/latest-news/metals/022421-uk-cobalt-free-solid-state-battery-technology-claims-major-cost-efficiencies cascade of renewables aus The growth in low marginal cost wind and solar generation will see generators with more expensive fuel costs, like coal and gas, pushed out of the market due to the National Electricity Market’s merit order effect. “They will be displaced because wind and solar have no fuel cost and typically bid into the market with prices close to zero,” IEEFA analyst Johanna Bowyer said. “We predict that gas power station output will fall by 78% and coal output by 28% by 2025 compared to 2018 levels.” wow. https://reneweconomy.com.au/tidal-wave-of-new-wind-and-solar-will-force-early-coal-plant-closures/

I think the smartest teams are the ones who think outside the box with their Canadians. The old school mentality is to draft a bunch of offensive linemen, but I’d rather take the really good pass rushers or running backs or corners because there’s no competition for them. Kyle Walters snorts derisively.

  13. there's no question ZC is pretty fragile, but if this year off benefitted anyone, it's him. Get fully, 100% healthy. Also, if our OL holds up as it has, it's his best chance for success. You can never protect against everything, but our OL is his best chance for survival.

that just sounds gross...ha ha. I just really, generally speaking, don't like people. I tolerate a very specific small group of people... but mostly, I'd really prefer people keep their distance at all times.

What's scarier though? Dying of Covid? Or being attacked by Mexican rapist gang members walking across the border in their caravan? I think we know the answer for most Fox viewers.

I just saw a study looking at counties in the states that allowed fan in the stands for football games this fall and there was not discernable increase in Covid cases due to people attending games.

No, there's nothing wrong with it, but at the end of the day, people need to decide for themselves. Once we have a significant portion of our population vaccinated, we should no longer be fining people for not wearing masks. And if that were to occur, we should consider it a serious problem

    Covid-19

This has been the norm in parts of Asia for years already: Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea. When someone is sick, they wear a mask when they go out as a social responsibility in order to minimize the risk of spreading the illness. I still don't understand how wearing a mask to reduce the spread of contagious seasonal viruses is somehow equated to tyrannical actions like having's one's rights or freedom taken away. But that's another discussion.

Have an offense that centers around running the ball. Spread the whole field throwing to receivers being open. Quick passes getting rid of the ball fast neutralizing a blitz or strong pass rush. Throw deep if someone gets open but it can't be a centerpiece of our offense like Reilly in BC. Then have a great OL protecting Collaros. That's what we need for him to stay healthy.... Oh wait, we already do that.

anyone from here said this? 😄 "Zach (Collaros) deserves respect because he wins, but let’s be real — he’s going to do at least one stint on the six-game injured list this year. Him and Travis Lulay have made some killer money in this league while not playing." https://3downnation.com/2021/02/24/insider-talk-edmontons-culture-murrays-retirement-brett-boyko/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=insider-talk-edmontons-culture-murrays-retirement-brett-boyko

    2021 Season

It would seem from the various sources commenting that the league really sees playing without fans as an absolute last resort. Some talk of a later start in August, and every financial model that we have seen In the CFL past has shown that ticket sales and game day profits generate up to 65% of league revenues. So not surprising that fan attendance is not addressed. The CFL would probably prefer to exhaust all other possibilities (including a later start or a shorter schedule with fans in the stands - which is dependent on what the Provinces will allow and not what the league would prefer), and given the angst (some have said entitlement) of fans on message boards, why put out a plan that may not come to pass? Because you just set yourself up for criticism if the season is delayed and some know-it-all’s then whine about being promised football and why don’t they just go with the no-fans plan, and why are they lying to us again? Again, planning is crucial, plans are useless because plans change. But that’s just my opinion, I don’t have this burning need to hold the league’s feet to the fire and a need to know RIGHT NOW when there are more important life issues during this pandemic.

Respectfully disagree with "as much distance as possible at all times". Why go outside then? Yes these are extreme examples that I gave but they happen. I'm not expecting a complete stranger walking by to give me a hug (and I hope they don't expect it from me), but c'mon...crossing the street instead of passing by someone? That's just being socially moronic. As far as future flu seasons, the fundamentals of staying home when you're sick and frequently sanitizing your hands should be done anyway. Maintaining that physical distance is just extra insurance.

  37. Denmark population under six million. someone explain why Canada can not do this. Are we really as backward as it seems? "Danish energy infrastructure investments firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners is looking to build what it says is Europe’s largest production facility of CO2-free green ammonia, with the final product aimed at the shipping and agriculture sector as a means to reduce emissions." The project will be located in the town of Esbjerg on the west coast of Denmark, where the facility dubbed "Power-to-X-facility" will convert power from offshore wind turbines to green ammonia. This will be used by the agriculture sector as CO2-free green fertilizer and by the shipping industry as CO2-free green fuel. The excess heat will be used to provide heating for around one-third of the local households in Esbjerg. The facility will consist of 1GW electrolysis. Ultimately, this is expected to reduce CO2-emissions by about 1.5 million tons CO2 yearly – or the equivalent to removing 730,000 cars from the roads permanently, CIP said." https://www.oedigital.com/news/485481-europe-s-largest-cip-to-launch-offshore-wind-powered-ammonia-plant-in-denmark

    Covid-19

A good idea, however the problem is that it was initially referred to as social distancing instead of physical distancing. A number of people take it as "avoid coming anywhere near other people at all costs". I'm out and about walking in my neighbourhood daily (with or without dog) and have had people 1) stop when they see me coming, turn around and walk back the way they came, 2) move over to give about 15' of distancing (even after I've moved over a few feet), 3) cross the street when they see me approaching, and 4) move from the sidewalk to walk on the street when they see me approaching. All of these examples tell me that either I'm horribly ugly, or they're taking it way too far (or a bit of both). These folks must have to take a Prozac so they can go into a grocery store - assuming they've been in one in the past year.
