Hello fellow CFL Fans, As many of you have now heard, the CFL has been in talks with the XFL due to their dire situation and obviously is in desperate need of help. I am sure many of you have also received the "Wishing I were there" postcards mailed out by the federal government. The idea of the campaign is to allow Canadians to reconnect with each other and provide a message to people we cannot see due to the going pandemic. I suggest instead we send those postcards back to Parliament Hill, with messages of support for the Canadian Football League. Now, I don't know if doing this will necessarily help the league, but I feel that if we can get enough Canadians behind this, it could help when/if the league does re-approach the federal government for funding. More importantly - to you other posters... what are the other CFL team sites that we can try to spread this initiative on? I know of RiderFans, but other than that, I am unaware of any of other forums. If people can provide me with other forums, I will gladly create accounts to help spread this message.

Until everyone is vaccinated, I'd keep everything as locked down as they possibly can. We've made it this long, we can last another few months. The good news is that the vaccines appear to be very capable against the new variants. Just have to buy time until we can administer enough vaccines...

Just because the XFL has a billion dollar hedge fund behind it doesn't mean they have unlimited capital. I guarantee that they have a dollar figure amount they are willing to lose and it isn't anywhere close to what some people here think it is. The XFL has no franchises per se, and will have a very limited rope on losses before their backers pull out. Just like XFL 1.0, AAF, XFL 2.0. the USFL and all the other defunct leagues littered amongst the football landscape. It's a business and anyone thinking the XFL is going to give us the 60 million dollars to operate based on some good will is dreaming in technicolor. They are talking to us because they NEED us, they NEED our viability and history as a league to differentiate themselves from every other failure league that came before. SMH, at those that think the XFL will save us. Good lord....it's the other way around and we will charge them a hefty fee for doing so and we hold all the leverage.

Immunocompromised guy here. Expecting my first child in a few weeks. There's my bias. "Our" decision to live with Covid has meant I haven't been able to go to any of the prenatal appointments. I'm concerned we are inviting another wave that may prevent me from being present at the birth. Not a big fan of loosening restrictions when mass vaccinations are underway and at least somewhat of an end is in sight. Would really like to feel comfortable being around friends again too. Thankfully all 3 of my 80+ year old grandparents have all received one vaccine shot though.

This is what I had assumed. That vince co would have much better network connections than redbird. But he took a HUGE gamble on the xfl 2.0 tv deal and it wasnt on track to pan out imo. And his track record on risks out side of the wwe is not good. The cfl would not survive changing to 4 down football. Itd be like being lost a drift at sea and trading your hull for a mast. You go from listing aimlessly to sunk.

Once again ... betting odds does not mean % of chance of a team winning. It's more about how much money is being place on (in this case a team) over others.

The XFL v2.0 got 0 dollars for its tv deal with ESPN and FOX. I really can't see Mr. Trudeau giving the league help. It just optically doesn't look good for politicians to help things perceived as non-essential like sports. I'm not saying I agree with that logic, just that I can see how it doesn't look good from a political perspective.

No one is suggesting doing "nothing". But, the idea that the XFL, which stands for the Ex-Football League, is some sort of saviour seems ridiculous. If they have money to put into the league, they must want something pretty big in return. There must be solutions to raise attendance that don't involve pieces of poontang pie?

This is such a horrible take. Morrissey hasn't been the same since Trouba was traded (which speaks to the importance of pairing chemistry) but to suggest he's been just outright bad is ridiculous. His analytics are still solid even if they've fallen off. Keep in mind this team lost 4/6 of its starting blue line in a single off-season. There's no recovering from that in any short time, especially when the void has to be filled with stopgaps like Sbisa, Bitetto, Beaulieu, etc. Until the Jets can find a RHD partner to pair well with him (I expected Poolman to be that player but it hasn't worked out), we'll continue seeing this blue line blender and defensive struggles. Trading him away when the depth is already shallow enough would be a terribly shortsighted move. Also, if he's so bad, why would any other team want him?
