Taxes are general revenue. Gas taxes don't pay for roads, all taxes pay for roads. Like, all taxes pay for healthcare. EVs don't fuel themselves. You still need to produce the energy. Tax the energy consumed. It's a lazy way to fight the Federal government because they didn't like the SCC decision.4 points

Tons of vintage CFL games turning up on youtube, like this one from 1995. I'm not 100% sure but I think it has Milt's first two Bomber TDs in it. It's his second game and the announcers don't mention if he had a touchdown in his first or not. He has a couple funny rookie moments in the game, there's one bit where he and his return partner get all Keystone Kops. Ugh, those navy helmets, what were they thinking? Anyone else getting their CFL fix via old games on Youtube?3 points -

I spent a day shadowing him at CBC in 1971. I was in Grade 9 doing a school project. I called him out of the blue, told him about my project & Witt instantly said okay for me to spend the day with him. One of the best days I ever had as a teen. I met all the CBC 24 Hours crew, News anchor Garth Dawley, Meteorologist Murray Parker & interviewers John Harvard & Gerry Haslam. He was a genuinely nice man. Treated me like gold. I got to see how they put together an hour long news show.3 points -
It is very difficult for us "normies" to understand the mindset created by centuries of poverty, abuse and neglect. One one occasion, I had to interview a black male who had grown up in south Chicago and was facing serious charges. At one point, I asked him what his reaction was to what he was accused of (and had admittedly done). His reply still sends chills up my spine: "I don't care if I live or die, so imagine how little I care if you or anyone else dies".3 points

Yes but they're not doing this at all. They're pumping a flat tax that does not take into consideration usage. Whereas, if they tax consumption, it would make more sense. The infrastructure required will be paid for by those consuming the energy. At no point does Saskpower or Hydro suck up costs that are not passed on to consumers. Again, just a make believe issues. This is only the whiny conservatives not liking an SCC decision, so they throw a dumb idea out to "stick it to the lefties". Typical conservatives, short-term thinking with no plan. If the Liberals suggested that natural gas was a more efficient and cleaner technology, the alt-right would be pounding at the door for more hydro and coal electricity.3 points

Yeah, I miss Wittman too. For me, his all-time call is "ELLETT LETS IT GO, SCORES!" Always liked Slack, it's crazy watching him run and move so well with his bone-on-bone knee. Wonder how he good he could have been with working hinges. re: QBs getting worn down, I was watching the 1986 Western Semi, us vs. BC, and both Huff and DeWalt took a ton of hits that would be RTP today. It was quarterback tee-ball back in those days, QBs getting torpedoed by guys who were 3-4 steps away when the ball was out. Man, that was a heartbreaker of a game ... Bombers discipline was terrible, Willard Reaves got kicked out of the game, penalties and turnovers killed every bit of momentum we had, Jim Zorn got humbled, and when Huff finally got it going in the fourth, we had no RB1 to bash in the tying touchdown from the four. But damn, Huff could hurl the ball all over the field. His rainbow throws to Tuttle and Murph in this game are things of beauty.3 points -

Just watching the Calgary/Winnipeg 1995 game, a few comments - at the 24 minute mark (ish) - Slack throws a pass to Stegall (incomplete). He takes a hellacious hit to the head from the Calgary player and goes down like a sack of potatoes, but then just gets up after collecting himself on the ground. Glad to see the game has moved to the point whereby hits like that are flagged etc. The play doesn't even warrant comment from Don and James Curry who just ignore the horrible hit to Slack's head, other than Curry talks about how CFL QB's get "worn down" by hits like that during a game (lol) and then Don talks about a young Milt Stegall who told the Bomber coaching staff after his debut game in Calgary the week before: "I am tired and I have a lot to learn". LOL 55:26 - trademark Whitman calling Baker on a big punt run back - "look out!!!" 1:34:25 - history is made - Milt's first CFL touchdown. And Whitman calls it - "intended for Stegall deep...he's got it!!!" 1:45:25 - Milt's second TD. He already is showing flashes of being something really special. Reggie Slack had a weird wind up but he seemed to have a lot of tools, including really good scrambling ability. If I am ever near Navarre Florida I will try and visit his pizza restaurant, if it survived COVID.3 points -

There's two things that have me disheartened..... 1) They left patios open. Hinshaw has been saying for weeks that the variants transmit very easily even outdoors, and when you get idiot drunks on a patio with no masks on, it's still dangerous. 2) Already seeing a LOT of restaurants refusing to abide the rules and saying they're going to stay open no matter what. Up here in Rural BamaBerta, a group of local restaurants, led by our favourite Pub, is banding together to publicly flout the rules and stay open. Seeing AHS finally shut down the church gives me hope that maybe they'll start actually using their power to shut down those who refuse to abide by the rules. Because the only way we get through the next couple months (until mass vaccinations start) is with everyone pulling together....2 points

Interesting that it was reported recently that a independent study found that Manitoba had one of the best vaccine rollouts in Canada. It was reported in several news outlets. Bartley Kives questioning at the press conferences borders on ignorant and belligerent. And repeatedly when called on for his turn there is dead air which has happened enough that I suspect he walks away from his computer and isn't there when called upon. One of the worst reporter's in Winnipeg in my opinion.2 points -

Saying its a waste just means it's a sad situation for anyone to be charged or committed a murder. Not just the murderer and the victim but the families of both. Their lives will never be the same or reach their full potential. It's a waste of multiple lives, and yes often with root causes that reflect both current and historical situations.1 point -

'Inmates run the asylum': Political observers stunned by QAnon congresswoman’s massive fundraising haul On Wednesday, POLITICO reported that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), the famously QAnon-sympathetic conspiracy theorist congresswoman who lost her House committee assignments after social media activity endorsing the execution of prominent Democrats in Congress, raised $3.2 million in the first quarter of 2021 — a huge amount of money for a freshman lawmaker in a district that is almost certainly too Republican-leaning to field a competitive race in the midterms anyway. Political observers on social media quickly reacted to the news of Greene's fundraising haul, many of them expressing dismay and disgust that so many people endorse Greene's brand of politics. Republicans are the party of QAnon. They can deny it, but it's true. The inmates run the asylum and have for years. https://t.co/1FQpsoVn6H — Emily C. Singer (@Emily C. Interesting poll. I don't think it would play out with an NDP majority. In fact, I still think the PCs would take the majority; however, it shows how much the PCs have fallen. I don't think it particularly means that NDP have risen but, rather, are benefitting from the PCs fall.1 point
