Defensive play of the game goes to Trevor Lewis's play on Drouin to save a goal and then Drouin taking a penalty on Lewis. Beauty defensive play. These types of play may not be flashy but they make coaches very happy. Oh yea and icing on the cake was seeing the face of Corey Perry in the tunnel just learning he was assessed a 10 minute misconduct and was done for the game. Priceless.3 points -

I don't buy that "a significant number of people want 4 down football"....bullshit. A significant number of people want the NFL. There's a difference there. It's not like they want the NFL because it's 4 downs...they want it because of the hype. People who only watch NFL aren't suddenly going to start watching the CFL because it's 4 downs. I refuse to believe that.2 points -

Trump Curses Out ‘Son of a B*tch’ McConnell at GOP Donor Event for Not Completely Destroying Democracy -Getty During this weekend’s Republican National Committee donor retreat in Florida, attendees headed to Donald Trump’s private club Mar-a-Lago on Saturday evening to hear prepared remarks from the twice-impeached former president on the future of his party. Predictably, Trump at times veered wildly off-script from his prewritten speech, the text of which was reviewed by The Daily Beast earlier in the day. While at the private event, he inveighed against Republican, Democratic, and celebrity enemies, and again denounced the 2020 presidential election outcome as “bullshit,” according to those in the audience. “[Trump began] swearing and telling everyone about the stolen election,” according to one such attendee. The 2020 election, of course, was not stolen from Trump, and President Joe Biden decisively beat the GOP incumbent in both the Electoral College and popular vote counts. Trump’s anti-democratic blitz following Election Day and the lies he and much of the mainstream GOP spread about the election culminated in the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, which Trump is now accused in court papers of inciting. The source noted that the ex-president dinged his former VP Mike Pence for not fighting harder to subvert American democracy to keep Trump in power, but in particular went after Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. This source did not immediately respond to questions about specific phrasing but, according to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, Trump alleged that “a real leader" would not have bowed to the outcome and certification of Biden’s 2020 victory. Another source familiar with the event told The Daily Beast the former president trashed McConnell as a “dumb son of a *****” in a non-scripted portion of his Saturday night address to GOP donors. And according to Washington Post journalist Josh Dawsey, Trump also made time to vent pet grievances about “Oprah Winfrey and Barack Hussein Obama,” and to accuse Dr. Anthony Fauci of being “so full of crap.”1 point

Scapegoat Ambrosie all you want, but the pandemic is not his fault. The government locking things down is not his fault. A flawed business model that overly relies on filled stadiums just to break even was not created on his watch. Apathy in Toronto by a billion dollar corporation in MLSE who put pretty much zero dollars into marketing their club, the media in Toronto pushing the 4 down agenda, and owners who can’t agree with each other and who historically would rather fire a commish than let him lead were not his doing either. And the answers you want just aren’t available, plain and simple. The Government doesn’t know when things will open up again, but you continually hold Randy to a higher standard than anyone else. And if he came out every week with “ here is my update, we are still in a holding pattern until the pandemic situation becomes clearer” you be ticked off with that too. If he just pulled the plug on the season today you’d gripe about him quitting on the fans.1 point -

Yawn. Here we go... I don't give a **** about other Commissioners & what they did or didn't do. I just care about the one we have now who is presiding over the death of the CFL under his watch. Someone who never gives a straight answer to any question. Who lacks transparency when dealing with fans & players. Who hides for months at a time letting us all twist in the wind wondering what the hell is going on. No, I won't mention other Commissioners because none of them were as bad as Scarf Boy is. And we've had some real winners.1 point -

Governments like Kenney here in Alberta do things halfway which pisses everyone off. Some think they go too far. Others not enough. Very few say he got it right. So, as 68% of Albertans polled say Kenney isn't doing enough then shut things down. make a majority of Albertans satisfied at least & let his Neandertal rural MLA's be unhappy. To me, that's the only way he'll save his government now.1 point -

I think the only thing Ambrosie could have done better is communicate. Even if you can't say anything because you're at the mercy of government regs, at least say that. It looks better than just saying nothing, which makes it look like you're hiding.1 point -

Per arbitration rules, if Laine goes back into arbitration, his minimum salary has to be the lesser of his final season salary ($7.5 million plus bonuses) or 120% of the AAV of his last contract (which works out to $8.1 million) and that will get him two years locked in at most. And that is the qualifying offer the club MUST make to retain his rights, he could sign for more. And if they want to avoid arbitration and get him into a long term deal (max. 8 years, which would get him to age 30) they will have to pay through the nose to make him give up 6 years of free agency. I can easily see him getting an 8 figure salary if they go long term.1 point -
