Covid-19

So 6 months ago or so my wife asked the Winkler Super Store manager why he was letting people in without masks and not dealing with them according to the rules. His answer was because if he called the Police they wouldn't come because the city council told them not to respond to those requests. Take that with a grain of salt because the guy is generally non compliant and it easily could have been BS. Or not. There were and are other buisnesses in town that rigidly enforce mask policy and I don't believe they have lost many customers. We among many, many others now limit our business in that community. I go when I have to and only to places that have at least attempted to follow the rules. Probably less than 1/4 of what we use to. On OB 68 Winklers mayor said Stanley was at %17. So when I think I need to go there I'll just remind myself that if I walk by 10 people not even 2 of them are vaccinated. F-ing awful.5 points -

Speed's gif game is on fire. Also, I don't see why so much hate is getting thrown on @Colin Unger I didn't see him promoting antivax or anti health orders. That is the goal with herd immunity, if most people are vaxxinated or naturally immune due to previous infection... infections shouldn't be spreading too badly. I mean he's wrong with the conment "where is it going to come from" - break through infectikns are going to happen 94% efficacy (88% for delta)is not 100%... it will come from somewhere. Also, with the higher transmission of the Delta Variant, that **** is going to spread like wildfire through those communities.3 points -
I see a lot of parallels to the situation we're facing with climate change, except the climate change situation is even worse. A country only sees a small portion of the benefits from taking active climate change initiatives and receives all the benefits of other countries taking actions. It's why we've seen such little action done even though its pretty obvious the planet is getting pretty bad. That's why we hear the bullshit about "why should we do anything when China (insert other "evil" country, but its usually China) isn't doing their part." The larger populace gets screwed by anti-maskers/anti-vaxxers, but at least most sensible people can do something to protect themselves individually, while idiots will often face personal consequences from being exposed to the virus. Its kind of shitty for kids or those who are unable to get vaccinated, hospital staff that has been overwhelmed for over a year, and those who may get it despite being fully vaccinated. Not to mention everybody who follows restrictions and wants life to get back to normal and business that have been hurting for far too long.3 points

The more I think about Colin's post and that shitty ******* attitude..... I'm realizing those Anti Vaxx Mennos are the kid in high school who's in on a group project and doesn't do any of the work, but still gets the same grade. The rest of us doing all the hard work, following all the rules... To try to get us to some semblance of herd immunity. **** every ******* who didn't follow rules and won't get the shot. You get what you deserve.3 points

CDC in the States says that the majority of deaths happening now are unvaccinated people, pretty sure that's happening here and it's sad that people are to stupid to have something injected in them that could save their miserable lives3 points -

I more frustrated with Winkler's Mayor and their MLA Friessen making excuses for their low vax rates. 15% lower than the rest of the province is a joke. Heck Downtown Winnipeg an area with plenty of people who are transient or face other barriers has a much higher vax rate. IMO those jerks need to be called out and shamed.2 points -

NFL teams have the facilities and money to accommodate those extra hoops though. I'm sure Adams would also like to have the same salary cap as the NFL but that's not going to happen either.2 points -

JUCO is pretty damned good ball. My son played it. There are a lot of players that would tear up U Sports. Most players come from economically challenged families in districts where the drop put rate in high schools are high & gang life is a way of life. My son being Canadian had his eyes opened to the differences socio-economically from the white middle class background he came from. A lot of his teammates were Blacks who came from Oakland & cities from Southern California where poverty & gang life are ripe. These guiys all liked Tyler because he could play & was the starter at qb. He hung out with a lot of those guys & they treated him well. Academically, these players struggled with school, with their SAT's & generally didn't qualify for D1 FCS & FBS colleges. They spend 2 years in a classroom setting where they are taught how to become students. Some of them have to take a remedial English or Math class & have to pass those courses before they can further their studies. Some guys are so far behind it takes them three years to finish a 2 year course so they redshirt but after their time is over most can handle university level courses. They won't be Nobel Prize winners or doctors but they'll come away with a degree from an accredited 4 year university. A lot of players redshirt which means they don't play their first year but it doesn't affect their 2 years of eligibility at JUCO. A lot of them graduate & are offered 2 year scholarships to 4 year colleges which before would have been a dream for most of them. Aaron Rodgers got no scholarship offers after high school so the JUCO (Butte College) in his hometown of Oroville, CA, offered him a chance to play & in 2 years he ended up going to Cal. My son quarterbacked his team (College Of The Siskiyous) against Butte when Rodgers younger brother was one of the qbs there, Both teams were in the same conference. The level of play is outstanding.1 point -

Winnipeg health - 791,000 Southern Health - 211,000 Prairie Mountain -172,000 Inter Lake Health-133,000 Northern Health- 77,000 So in theory Southern should have 1/3 to 1/4 of the cases. BUT, it should be way less than that because larger centers usually generate higher percentages by shear contact numbers. Last week I tried to get my shot 10 days early at a walk in due to a business situation. (Wasted the better part of 2 days and never got the shot ) But I was talking for 3 or 4 hours to a guy from Winkler. He works a one of the bigger factories there and said he figured only %25 of his co-workers had a shot. I got my 2nd yesterday by the way.1 point -

If people get a chance they should read the NY courts 33 page ruling on the suspension of Rudy Guiliani’s law license. Very well documented evidence of Rudy Colludy’s staggering level of lies and unsupported claims of election fraud. Hopefully this leads to permanent disbarment and adds to the charges he is already facing. Frankly damn near everyone in Trump’s orbit needs jail time or never be allowed in politics again.1 point -
