    Covid-19

My concern is for the kids who can't get vaccinated yet. I have an 8 year old, and until she is vaccinated I'm still a little uncomfortable with loosened restrictions. Specifically anything to do with masks and distancing.

I just love this so much. There's going to come a day (hopefully before too long) when I'll be able to come home again, and I almost can't even wrap my head around how good it's going to be. I lay awake at night dreaming about it.

  6. In all of our lives, there is usually only one place that feels like home. I have lived in four provinces and Winnipeg is home to me. When we returned after three years in Alberta, the sense of being where I belonged was overwhelming and got better every day. Its an imperfect city in an imperfect province, but its home, now and forevermore.

  7. 15lbs of lean mass for a long time gym rat is pretty huge. He probably wouldn't have seen such gains if it wasn't for the lost year. But it could be gigantic for him. And give him a better ability to rotate inside and twist more. Kongbo is a really special talent. To have his size athleticism pedigree motivation and the ni status is a once in a generation thing up here. He and hansen are poised to have monstrous production even in lower reps then many guys in the league will see. I think we will not only have the best 4 man pressure in the league but some of the best 4 man pressure in years.

  8. https://www.bluebombers.com/2021/07/16/quick-hits-tc-july-16-2021/ some good stuff, as always, from Our Man Tait....and just a quick teaser for you: 1. MORE MUSCLE?!?!: It’s in Jonathan Kongbo’s DNA to work hard. As evidence you may recall that back in his days at the University of Tennessee he won the 2018 John Stucky award as Volunteers’ best performer in the weight room. And so when the Blue Bombers defensive end arrived in Winnipeg in 2019 as a first-round draft pick he was already carved in stone at 6-5, 255 pounds. Now back with the club after spending the summer of 2020 in the training camp of the San Francisco 49ers and a short stint this year in The Spring League, Kongbo has added another 15 pounds to his already-chiselled frame.

At first i was thinking this was a recorded address from the past. When I realized it was from today, my reaction was -You've got to be ******* kidding me to be that tone deaf at this point, let alone speaking as the Minister responsible. What the **** was he thinking by even saying that, thinking it would fly? What the **** was Pallister thinking picking this guy?

I heard that they expect the vaccine approvals to be done by the end of September, so they could be getting vaccinated as early as October... here's hoping...

  15. The housing market in Winnipeg has really exploded but its a much more recent phenomenon. It may have been creeping up incrementally since the 2010's but it really hadnt started going bonkers until the pandemic. Lots of stories over the last year or so of people bidding like 30K, 40K over asking price and still losing out

  21. Thank you so much. A friend sent me this video today, and I never appreciated it more than I do now. I've lived here a long time and we've never had something this tragic happen in Kelowna, as long as I've been here anyway. We are definitely hurting as a city but we'll get through it. Glad to hear that your nephew is ok. If he ever wants to watch a Bomber game with me, I would welcome the company! Thanks all.

  22. Oh hey thanks for checking in. Things are starting to slowly return to normal. I was finally able to access my vehicle yesterday, which was stuck on the street behind a temporary fence across from the accident scene. I still have the image of the paramedics working on a guy right beside my SUV on the street..... Anyway, thanks again guys, keep the great posts coming! Focusing on the Bombers is the best therapy I could have right now, so much positive stuff going on with the team! Yes that was my thought too.

  23. Hey guys - just wanted to let you know that yesterday was a pretty f-ed up day for me as I was extremely close to a huge accident in Kelowna that claimed 5 peoples' lives. Having been that close to the danger and near death it put a lot of things in perspective. Thanks for all your posts, I really need to focus on this right now as it was beyond a traumatic experience. I am so happy the Bombers are back, and I can focus on something positive right now. That is all.

My wife is deathly afraid of being house poor, which is a big part of why we decided to stay in our first house and not upgrade to something fancier. I was convinced by the idea of paying it off by the time I'm 50 and then spend my last 10 or 15 good working years paying for a retirement place. Holy **** we got off topic in this thread.......ha ha ha. If anyone ever wanted to start a real estate thread over in Gen Forum and transfer all this stuff, I'd gladly keep that ball rolling. I am mildly obsessed with Manitoba real estate listings..

it's WILD......again, I live on Realtor.ca and follow the MB housing market very closely. I love that area around Oak Bluff, and my sister's down in Lorette, so I follow the various French-Catholic communities south of the city closely......the prices are insane. I can't figure out how people are paying for it...unless everyone just has multiple jobs. Never mind both parents working...you need both parents working two jobs each.

You'd be amazed what areas just out side the city have been selling for pre covid. The new developments that stretch towards or are marketer towards city comuters is crazy. Steinbach and niverville especially.

My first conspiracy theory using your analogy as the frog being the democrats. Maybe the frog isn't in the water, it's just a mirage. Maybe the frog is on the whole thing just with different motives/rewards than the republicans .

  32. Got my pre-sale home opener tickets for me and the boys! They must have let friends/family in early cause there was slim pickens for decent seats and we definitely dont have that many season ticket holders. Still some large pockets of tickets available in most bowls on the sides. Hopefully we can sell it out or at least come close. If we dont ill feel shame in front of a national audience.

Its the "frog in a pot of water" scenario. If you drop a frog into a pot of hot water, it ill jump out immediately. If you put the frog into pot of cool water and turn the heat up slowly, the frog will recalibrate again and again until it dies without jumping out.

and yet no significant response from Joe, Nancy, Chuck. nice speeches. no arm twisting, nothing. reminds me so much of "make me do it" Obama. now a multi multimmillionaire for his non effort. The Democrats are still getting a lot of leeway from the media. digby just writes about trump.how awful he was, is. nothing about Biden inaction. democracy being frittered away.

I believe Global has the whole 14 and a half minute presser. So many WTF moments. Clearly not prepped at all. What's worse is reconciliation is the first word in the new job title which seems to signify the most important job and he says people in charge of residential schools had good intentions. How can you be so ignorant?

Americans are acting like everything is back to normal and Covid is over, they are fooling themselves, LA Country has just mandated masks again in all indoor spaces vaccinated or not and tonight's Yankee's/Red Sox game was postponed as several pitchers on Yankee's tested positive with more results to come.

There was something on Twitter about 1 of the Sask players having tested positive, but it turned out to be a false-positive. Also, 10 out of 6000 is a TPR of 0.17%, so overall, not too bad.
