If he is fighting a shoulder injury after having 2 years off this may be it for Matty. Sad to see. I will always appreciate his contributions to the turn around.

Agreed. When he does retire, I hope the Bombers will bring him and his family back to honour him and the first hope of competitiveness we had for years. I don't think we would be here at the top of the CFL food chain without him.

I'm pretty sure the concourses are considered "indoor" as well, especially the upper decks, along with the ramps and stairwells. I'm planning to wear mine the whole time either way.

  4. All those receivers on all of those rosters across the CFL and not one of them is named Duron Carter. Thank goodness for that.

  5. I couldn't give a rats ass how many receivers or DBs other teams brought in and neither should you. It is completely irrelevant. Other teams have holes to fill in their LBer, DL, OL, RB, and NAT component that we quite frankly don't have. Calgary and BC are the examples you give? They CAN'T bring in 20+ receivers because they have too many holes to fill throughout their lineup that we don't have. The fact we took a targeted approach to the positions of receiver and DB is because these are the skill positions on a football field and quite frankly where the gamebreakers are mostly found. When you have a solid crew in the trenches and LBer crew it allows you the luxury of bringing in more at the skill positions so that you have a better chance of finding a superstar in the making. None of that means the Bombers are unhappy or worried about their incumbents.

one of my all time favourite radio morning show bits that I remember from high school was either Tom and Joe or BJ and Hal talking about dropping a winter glove into the trough and whether or not they should go in and get it......took phone calls on it for the morning and it was hilarious. Really great bit that I'll never forget.

    Covid-19

I know there are some people here in MB who think we should be moving quicker like AB, but I REALLY hope that we don't. It may be overly cautious, but I'm ok with that. I played Ultimate on Tuesday and I may have been the only person on any of the fields wearing a mask, but I wasn't going to take any chances with being that close to people I don't know.

  13. So it looks like a real possibility that Harris isnt going to be ready for the opener. Im pretty excited to see what Oliveira can do. Id love to see him come out and just run wild. May we be seeing a passing of the torch on August 5??

  15. Sounds like a BJ and Hal bit. Those two were amazing. Earlier this year on CJOB Hal was reminiscing and playing some old clips of him and BJ and was really emotional. Started crying on air and had to take some time to compose himself. Thinks of those times as the best times of his life.

  25. It would seem that perhaps Lapo wanted Nichols. Familiarity and trust i guess. Probably wants to run a similar offense to what he had here. But Nichols may end up being his undoing.

I had been getting a bit slacker in wearing my mask...not anymore. Things are getting completely out of hand out west here, so I'll be back in my mask pretty much full time. ******* assholes everywhere.

Not according to Arbuckle. He was already involved in the community and said the redblacks didn't even try to resign him. Apparently there was no communication. I'll try and find the article where he said that. So I was a bit off on the lack of communication, but not on Arbuckle wanting to resign... https://3downnation.com/2021/02/05/sucks-for-nick-arbuckle-to-think-redblacks-were-stalling-for-matt-nichols/

I believe it's on Arbuckle. He doesn't want to re-sign with Ottawa. That's why the RedBlacks was forced to cut him and pickup Nichols on the process. If Nichols is still being bothered by that shoulder injury, that's really sad. And how can he effectively throw that 6-8 yarders. So sorry for Lapo too, he may end having no QB again, in his second gig as a head coach.

  29. In the limited reps he has had here he's shown a good knack for finding holes between players.

  30. This is particularly true at the skill positions. If you are not turning over every stone for the next Milt Stegall you are not going to find him. Bringing in a ton of skill every year doesn't mean you are unhappy with your roster but every team is ALWAYS looking for the next CFL superstar at every position. You would be monumentally stupid to not bring in as many top notch recruits as you can. For many years our greatest needs were receiver talent so it stands to reason we have an extensive list provided to us by the scouts. The fact that so many are available to us right now, and the fact that our DL, LBer, and OL is locked in with allstars, is why we have brought in so many. TB is overthinking it. When the top guys on your neg list, or scouting sessions agree to come North you bring them in. It should come as no surprise that this year it is receivers and DBs with 2 years of college graduates and the XFL folding.

  31. That's what I was thinking. Always tough to make that call but a guy like that should've benefited the most from a year off. Similarly I'm happy it seems Zach has seemed healthy. That whole offense looks awful. Be interesting to see what Flanders does its kinda crazy he's hardly seen any action since 17. I think he's been in camp with 5 cfl teams and has less than 100 carries. Idk if that happens or not but I wouldn't be surprised to see him coaching.

  33. just for clarification, it was Game 9 when Nichols went down at the end of a game vs BC. He got us to 7-2 on the season, and had really good passing numbers and far and away the best passer rating at that point on the season. But I fully support the idea that our passing attack was just fine, if slightly under-utilized because we have a generational RB in the backfield who deserves to get the majority of touches....

  34. I would love to attend and being fully vaccinated, i could, but i have kids that can't be vaccinated and being in a large crowd is not something i'm willing to risk yet.. The chances catching and transmitting the virus is relatively low, coupled with low numbers here in MB, its low risk, but there is still a risk and we are just letting our kids see their cousins and hopefully friends soon. I'm sure there are many other fans that are uneasy being in a crowd when they can watch the game at home with now risk. I would be willing to purchase a virtual ticket to watch the game on line each week (i don't have cable) but have other methods for watching live.

Also bring a mask because things like washrooms are probably still requiring masks. Those are indoor spaces.

  40. It's a given that Grant will be one of the DIs as our primary kick returner, that's why I did not listed him on the receiver groups. Nelson will be another DI taking Lucky's position before as backup receiver/DI. I could see RB Devonte Williams in this position as well but I think the coaches will chose to field more vets as possible.

I'm absolutely terrified to live in this province right now. Even though I'm double vaxxed, no vaccine is perfect, and we're creating a culture where the virus will be much easier to transmit, mutate and maybe even become stronger than the vaccines and break through. Legitimately scared to live here now.

  43. It really makes you wonder what Ott was thinking when they straight up ditched Arbuckle for Nichols. Had to have known Nichols wasn't 100%...or they made a huge mistake in assuming he was 100%. Very odd situation there either way.

Poolman was a 5th rounder who we got 120 games out of the last 3 years for $2.5M total. I'd say he provided value at that price. To commit $10M more until he's 32 seems, ummm, questionable.

  45. I'm probably stating the obvious here, but there is no rookie mini-camp this year unlike the previous years. If I recall it correctly, those rookie mini-camps are pre-dominantly WRs and DBs and a handful of players in other positions and only a handful of those rookies really make it to the main camp.
