Here's my take on the whole violence from the left misdirection (if you're gonna ignore or discredit, you're gonna ignore and discredit no matter what); I'm probably as about as left as they come, as it is part of my job. I've attended meetings and zoom calls for BLM on a national and international level, including with Toronto, and US chapters of BLM, as we were trying to understand the issues as things unfolded last year, what was needed, and how we could support. There was never a sniff of any violent actions being discussed. Never. Lots of talk on being visible, being vocal, being informed and fighting misinformation. Never about what you need to protect yourselves, other than through sheer numbers. Fighting back was actively discouraged, as it was known how that would be spun. Meeting and seeing these people certainly did not bring up images of the Black Panthers, or anyone capable of violence. I believe the the whole concept of a violent left wing organized Antifa is made up. If there was anything remotely violent being planned, I am confident I would have heard about it even in passing or as a suggestion. Any violent action from the left is either largely disproportionate to right wing violence, reactionary, or a result of mob mentality. I'm not denying its existence, but i do believe that it is a narrative for whataboutism and to validate right wing violence.

Yes, there seems to be a penchant for gross over reaction to opposing view points right now that is leading to even more polarization. No side of the political spectrum seems to want to admit or fix flaws they have and are instead blaming the opposite end of the spectrum for the flaws existing. Too many examples of this to count are found right here in this thread. It is sad. Instead of thoughtful debate on issues it devolves into "well your side is worse". This is how we have governments of the day pushing repulsive policy down our throats while playing boogeyman politics to re-inforce their popularity. The Flames just announced a few minutes ago that they will require proof of vaccination to get into Flames, Hitmen, Roughnecks & Stampeder games. I'd have liked to have seen that for the LD game vs Edmonton but a lot of people have bought tickets, I guess. If anyone remembers the post I made about a month ago where I spoke with the Stamps ticket manager saying I didn't feel safe going to games not knowing if the guy next, above or beside me was vaccinated & he just sloughed it off like it was no big deal. Well, I think they took a look at their attendance figures & saw fans are staying away in droves. That they didn't feel safe going. All of a sudden seeing other teams making decisions to have proof of vaccinations they did an about face. Boggles the mind that such a stupid decision was made in the first place.
