  1. Ohhh I see. They actually didn't want first place anyway: https://3downnation.com/2021/10/28/roughriders-losing-out-on-first-place-could-be-blessing-in-disguise/ Sure as **** were not saying that in 2019. Interesting.

They certainly can't pay him at this current rate AND field a competitive team by the looks of it. Reilly does look like a shell of his former self though. He has taken an absolute beating in his two years in BC. However, behind a solid OL he could still be a productive QB.

  6. John Hodge actually did a reasonably interesting article that focused on much more recent history and the whole league looking at the impact of clinching with 3 games left on the schedule: https://3downnation.com/2021/10/27/heres-how-cfl-teams-have-fared-historically-after-clinching-first-place-early/ "Since 2000, eleven CFL teams have had to play three or more regular season games after clinching the top spot in their division. They went a combined 21-19 in these meaningless games, after which ten of these teams reached the Grey Cup with a combined record of 5-5."

  8. Nothing happens in a bubble. Sure, the Bombers had some questions but did the best to keep their talent after winning the GC. Everyone else was on a wing and a prayer. Edmonton - you assumed that all the changes would come together and, somehow, Harris would find his way in a new system (again). Calgary - BLM coming off a major injury and raw rookie back-up. Also lost a ton of talent. Saskatchewan - Trusting Faj to be someone he's never been. Plus, lots of turnover and a lack of oline. BC - Same oline issues and lack of receiver depth. So, yeah, the Bombers had some questions but I saw was writers trying to outsmart and be the first to pick a surprise West winner, trying to look clever.

  10. -Blue Camo jerseys are all time worst -All Gold kits from 07, as well as we played in them, were a close second -Re: Going back to the royal blue kits...... I remember reading a quote where Wade said he didn't want to go back to those until we had a quality team on the field, so as not to embarrass that once glorious image (or something to that effect) so that's why there was a bit of a delay in going back to them full time.

  11. just another reason to not cheer for a Bombers/Riders west final... I really hope Sask loses the WSF and then someone asks "how important do you think the bye is?"...

  12. The Bombers have never really said that hosting the WF was one of their goals. They will play anywhere, any time, against any body. Source: 2019

  13. It is win/win for Sask for the rest of the year. They don't want a home playoff game anyway because those teams never win. If they lose it is because of our luck and their injuries. Extensions for everybody in the offseason.

Chevaldayoff is going to have to throw a lot of other people under the bus to even have a chance at keeping his job. Winnipeg is the home of Graham James and should really be the last city that puts up with this kind of laziness, conceit, deceit and inhumanity. "Cancel culture" is a sociopathic term for "accountability". That the Hawks allowed Aldrich to leave (and I'm going to use the sociopathic term here) by not "cancelling" him and allowing him to go on and abuse others is unforgiveable. Every person in that room had a responsibility to make sure this was dealt with by the law, but we know that winning the cup was more important than one, two or three human lives. F**k anyone who can't appreciate the gravity of this.

  15. There seems to be a lot of Lapo slander. I mean we know he’s not a perfect coach. But he is a good coach and he helped transform our offense and our team in general. Remember our team was 5-13 the season before Lapo came to the Bombers. He wasn’t the only reason obviously but was a part of the re emergence of our football team becoming respectable and I thought down the stretch in 2019 once we had Collaros he had some of his best play calling. Was a little conservative? Sure, is a good head coach? Well that’s yet to be determined but maybe not but he certainly had a huge impact on our team winning the grey cup in 2019.

Since 2010 (the previous 10 seasons in order) for the team finishing 1st in the West: 2010 -Calgary - choked in the West Final 2011- BC- won the Grey Cup 2012- BC- lost in the West Final 2013 - sask- won the grey cup abusing the salary cap 2014 - Calgary- won the Grey Cup 2015- Edmonton - won the Grey Cup 2016- Calgary lost in the Grey Cup 2017- Calgary lost in the Grey Cup 2018- Calgary won the Grey Cup 2019- sask lost the West Final to a far superior team Summary: 7-3 in the West Final 5-2 in the Grey Cup. I like hosting the West Final. * Did this fairly quickly so please correct if there are errors

Counter point: "When you start the year you have a one-in-nine chance of winning a Grey Cup," Fajardo said. "Then you clinch a playoff spot and have a one-in-six chance. "Then you want to get the first-round bye where you have a one-in-four chance. Our goal is to be a one-in-four chance team clinching with a bye week because I've been on the positive side of that where you get that week off and get to prepare and get healthy for the last playoff push." https://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/toronto-argonauts-saskatchewan-roughriders-week-16-1.5301695

Jets ownership really needs to get this right. They probably want to re-evaluate their relationship with Zinger as well. This is the right time to get the stench out of the management team. "Around nine months ago, the Winnipeg Free Press wrote a series of stories that they called A Stain on Our Game. The series covered one serial sexual abuser in hockey: Graham James. Most people know of James because he has been put in jail for his crimes. Sheldon Kennedy and Theo Fleury spoke out about their abuse at his hands. He was eventually sent to jail. But there is an unspoken about connection to James in the NHL today. It is not a player who survived him or one who was coached by him like Joe Sakic. No, it is Craig Heisinger. Heisinger’s knowledge of such incidences has been probed by the Winnipeg Free Press. They also asked him about the knowledge of hazing rituals with the Winnipeg Warriors. Heisinger has been evasive about his past in regards to his connections to James and the harm that was caused to the players that James had access to. In fact, there is one comment from 2011 that was made by Heisinger about James and it is not exactly a condemnation for his serial abuse of players: “I don’t want to condone any of the s–t Graham did — he crossed the line in a million different ways. But there were some people he gave opportunity to, and I was one of them.” (source) Again, in 2012 the Free Press talked to Heisinger again to start probing into Graham James and did get Heisinger on the record. Again, his comment leaves you wanting a lot more from him: ”You can save your breath. I’m not going to say anything about it. I’m not saying nothing. No comment. I’m not commenting on the Graham James situation. I’ve got nothing to say.” Why am I rehashing the commentary from Steve Lyon? Because it lays out a massive issue with the Winnipeg Jets: they have been unwilling to look into a long connection between James and Heisinger including Heisinger being a part owner of the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL when James was hired by them. At the very least Heisinger should be willing to denounce James with the heat of a thousand suns. He is a known serial abuser who used his position of power to prey on vulnerable young men. He was and is a sick man. It shouldn’t be hard to denounce that." https://www.arcticicehockey.com/2021/6/29/22554770/the-winnipeg-jets-silence-volumes-chicago-blackhawks-graham-james-craig-heisinger-kevin-cheveldayoff

It continues to speak to what's rotten in professional hockey, IMO. What's even more twisted is that Beach was labelled a first round bust shortly after and subsequently buried in the Blackhawks organization, destroying whatever career aspirations he had. **** the Blackhawks.

3down has a similar article. I honestly agree. The all-star QBs the league had are aging out and we've yet to replace them. We continually ***** about the short-screen game that Fajardo plays, but who is the guy that can drive a passing attack like Khari or Calvillio? They don't exist anymore. When the Bombers try to run a hurry up play, they're stopped by refs who don't set the ball for a minute+ https://3downnation.com/2021/10/26/the-cfl-has-an-entertainment-problem-and-theres-no-easy-solution/

  40. In the CFL OC are judged by the passing game but I feel like he looked at what he had at his disposal, a huge physical O-line and a hall of fame back and built the offense around that. No other team was close to the Bombers in times they ran ball. Defense around the league have been built to stop pass first getting small and quicker Bombers went big physical wear you down. Get 6-7 yards on first down running the ball on second down. Even if you are a yard short you got Streveler the line to to move the chains.

My biggest knock on Lapo isn't his ability to coach. We saw what he can do at the end of last year when he has the personnel. I think he overestimates his ability to take a diamond in the rough and make it shine. He seems to favor measurables way too highly at the expense of actual football IQ. He feels he can skip steps in development and get the most out of raw players immediately. He needs a GM who will give him a club heavy on veteran talent and with guidelines on player development. He seems to miss the signals of young players beginning to lose confidence. He is an X's and O's guy and is a very good strategist but he is not a player's coach, tries to be, but ends up falling flat because he does it the wrong way by throwing players to the wolves too early. Buck runs almost the same offence as Lapo just less conservatively. His plays work, his use of progressions are excellent, he just doesn't have the total package to run a room at this point.

Wpg's TP% seems extraordinarily low, thanks in large part to high vaccine uptake. Sad to see what's happening in North/South, but the key to Manitoba is what's going on in Winnipeg, and so far that seems pretty darn good...
