  6. No red flags for me. People with everyday lives & good jobs, husbands, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, they all make mistakes. He'll face a judge & accept whatever punishment is given out. Then it's over. He should be allowed to live his life in peace & play football. Hopefully with us. I don't drink much anymore. My partying days are over but 40 some years ago, I liked to go out & drink a lot. I drove drunk more than a few times home from the bar or house party. I'm not proud of it & I'm lucky I was never killed or injured as well as anyone else. I'm also lucky I was never stopped by the cops as I would have had my license suspended. When I got married, I cleaned up my act. We had a baby & my days partying were voluntarily over. Nobody told me I had to. It was my choice. To this day, I don't miss the lapses in memory or the hangovers. One of my closest & dearest friends passed away in 2008. He was caught driving drunk on 2 occasions in the 90's & early 2000's. His last time he had a single vehicle accident, totalled his car & ended up in hospital. Lost his license, too. I hadn't seen him for a number of years as I had moved to Calgary. His Dad told me he had liver disease. That he drank himself to death. His wife left him because of his drinking. He couldn't take the loneliness & guilt so he drank even more. Sad. He was a great guy & a HUGE Bomber fan. He would have loved the past 2 seasons. He never got to see his beloved team win B2B Grey Cups. I miss him everyday.

  7. He was one of our final cuts at camp this year. From a TC report by Ed Tait: There are four import defensive tackles who are also jumping out in Casey Sayles, the 6-3, 289-pounder who has experience in both the XFL and AAF; Ezekiel Rose, who starred at West Virginia; Cedric Wilcots II, who was spotted by Bombers scouts at the College Gridiron Showcase in 2020 after a superb career at New Mexico State, as well as Ricky Walker, who has been in camp with both Dallas and Cleveland.

  12. I suggest that your view is based on decades-old data, where pot was 3-4% potency but now the stuff is 19-25% potency and has caused a lot of trouble for many people. You say that the matter is between the person and employer- would you be comfortable boarding an plane where the pilot was stoned? Whether or not it is more problematic than alcohol or opioids is irrelevant- THC has to stand on its own merits or liabilities. There is a vast difference between casual, recreational use and problematic use. What causes a problem is a problem.

  13. The reference to it being ok because it's a naturally occurring plant is kinda BS though... Cocaine comes from a naturally occurring plant too. It has been proven many times over that cannabis is harmful to brain development for users under the age of 25.

    Canadian Politics

First off let me say that Danielle Adams was a good personal friend of mine. She worked for me in her younger years, and we worked together on many charitable projects in the City of Thompson. It is with a heavy heart I respond to this. I just want to say that a lot of EMS response just isn't possible in a timely fashion in much of the North. Geographic distance between destinations just doesn't allow it. Where her accident occurred she was 2 hours away in any direction from the lifesaving equipment she needed which is the Jaws of Life. There is nowhere to even station one if the province wanted to. It is a lonely stretch of highway without even so much as a gas station for 400 kms. Having had a business and now a 2nd home in the North, I make the trip from Thompson to Winnipeg or vice versa 20 times a winter. In those years I have learned the lesson that one must be exceptionally aware of the weather forecast and highway conditions when planning your trip and have the flexibility to postpone travel until plows and/or weather improves or at the very least be willing to travel well below the speed limit in the trail position for hours on end. I have had near misses trying to pass semis kicking up white out passing conditions and now I just don't travel in the road/weather conditions like there were that day. I feel deeply for her and her family and wish she would have delayed her trip by a day instead of heading out into a blizzard like I am hearing she discussed with her husband. Thompson lost a good person that day. I wish her family all the best and sincerely hope that any members here planning a trip up North will heed my advice to do your homework on weather and road conditions before you come North, and if travelling here is unavoidable in bad weather be patient and arrive safely. Please do not think I am placing any of the blame on Adams for her tragedy. I am not. I am just trying to pass on lessons I have learnt over 30 years of travel down that road. Once you hit North of Grand Rapids the tree line to the road is narrow and snow is not swept off the road by the wind. It makes snow accumulation a big problem on the highway and it is very long stretch of highway to keep clear even if the plows were going 24 hours a day.

    Covid-19

The Winnipeg School Division Board Chair is calling for KN95 / N95 masks for all staff and students, rapid tests for all schools and a period of remote learning after Christmas. (CJOB interview) I hope remote learning doesn't happen - the focus should be on getting more kids vaccinated.

  22. This response will be joined to my earlier one I'm guessing but.... First. It's not Marijuana. It's Cannabis. Marijuana is a plant found in Mexico that is very similar to tobacco. People started using Marijuana to confuse farmers in the 1930(ish) so they wouldn't realize they were actually voting to make their hemp crops illegal. Also claims about potency going from 3-4% to 25-30% is hilarious and factually incorrect. Yes cannabis is more potent today than in the 60s. But to claim it was only 3% back when they didn't have tech to actually test is a funny take. Also without getting into details of how the plant grows and actually accumulates cannabinoids (THCA, CBDA etc) what most people get today in store is closer to 15-20%. Testing is not in anyway an exact science. And every flower bud will have a different potency than the next, even from the same plant. Only very rarely will you see 30% plus potency....and even then to say the entire plant holds that....is questionable at best. Companies often send out their best product to be tested, it is 100% not reliable. In terms of privacy, I'm sure Lawler will be fine with me talking about him on here....you know due to him taking multiple photos with staff that were solely for the purpose of social media. Jefferson also posted a video in his private residence where a small Bong was seen. So please Get off your high (no pun intended) horse. You're credentials etc aside. I can tell you do not actually understand the plant and what it does/doesn't do. So please feel free to message me if you'd like a more thorough education. Calm your **** Catan. No one cares.

    Covid-19

Texas team applauded for giving what Big Pharma refuses: A patent-free vaccine to the world A small team of Texas researchers is being hailed for developing an unpatented Covid-19 vaccine to share with the world without personal profit, with some advocates asking, if they can do it, why can't Big Pharma? Dubbed "the World's Covid vaccine," the inoculation—formally called Cobervax—is an open-source alternative to Big Pharma's patent-protected vaccines. Instead of being produced for profit, this shot could ultimately be manufactured around the world and made cheaply available to all without governmental or private legal retribution. Common Dreams reported this week that Cobervax—developed jointly by Texas Children's Hospital, Houston's Baylor College, and the Indian pharmaceutical company Biological E. Limited—was authorized for emergency use in India amid a surge in infections driven by the highly contagious Omicron variant. Texas Children's Hospital says the new vaccine is at least 90% effective against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and 80% or more effective against its Delta variant. "We're not trying to make money," Peter Hotez, who led the Texas Children's Hospital team, told The Washington Post. "We just want to see people get vaccinated." 28. My understanding is that the canadian government will not allow athletes to cross the border without vaccines going forward. It would be tough to lose him but its not a forgone conclusion that we'd be able to keep him anyways. There would be a team giving him a raise and a starting position this season.

  29. I think Dane Evans & Jeremiah Massoli would be crazy to sign new deals before free agency. Teams will jump on them. More Evans than Massoli but wowx with all the FA qbs you have to figure it'll be crazy the first day of free agency. I can see Chris Jones wanting to sign his qb so he may release Arbuckle & Cornelius. I think Collaros will sign here but we need our Hoggies back to protect him.

It's inevitable at this point. Anyone who's not vaccinated is basically a sitting duck. No amount of testing, isolating or lockdowns will make much of a difference. Omicron is going to find everyone.

  37. Bill Belichek couldn't win with that team let alone Reinbold. That idiot GM we had at the time Ken Bishop who owned Road Runner Courier was out of his league. He gave Reinbold nothing to work with. We had an All World receiver in Milt Stegall & that was it.

  40. Exactly. If anything athletes probably shouldn't be using anything because they're athletes. But I'd have a hard time arguing alcohol was better for your body than weed. I personally flipped over as my go-to because alcohol kills my stomach and I almost never feel great after having any amount of it. Weed at worst I'd feel a bit groggy

  41. Pilots are routinely screened for ALL forms of intoxication, as are several other professions considered to be safety=sensitive. Yes, possession and use of THC/CBD is now legal, but legal sales account for only 15/% of usage. Insofar as my knowledge is concerned, my credentials and work history qualify me to comment.

It is interesting that small, tech-poor Cuba has independently developed a vaccine that is as good as and perhaps a bit better that the vaccines developed by the big pharmaceutical companies, but the Russian and Chinese versions are worse.
