Keep in mind also that the vaccine mandate for truckers just came in... empty shelves has been an issue for a while. I'd also like to point out that the truckers that are protesting are only about 3% of the truckers in the country, so just a very vocal minority that are able to be louder due to the right wing nut jobs that have latched on to their "cause" and added their voices to it even though they really have no skin in the game.

Worker absenteeism — not trucker vaccine mandates — impacting store shelves: Metro (yahoo.com) According to the CEO of a major national retailer, the effects of the trucker vaccine mandates are not the primary reason to blame for inflation and empty shelves at grocery stores - people being affected by Covid is. Unfortunately this does not stop many politicians in Canada from pointing the finger at Trudeau (ignoring that a US vaccine mandate exists) and saying that Trudeau is to blame and he is the one responsible for causing divisiveness amongst Canadians. Totally ignoring that there are more provincial mandates than federal. Incredibly disappointing that we have politicians that see what is going on in the US and realize how much easier it is to manipulate the dumb and ignorant rather than develop policy that is attractive and effective. Andrew Scheer and Pierre Poilievre surely know and understand the situation, but are using the idiocy of those involved to score political points. The same way Mitch McConnel and and Co. are doing in the states. "If you see empty shelves blame Justin Trudeau." 🙄

  11. Lauther is a Natl. so that is advantageous, plus the Riders rely on him to pull games out of the fire regularly when Fajardo can't get it done. He improves their record by at least 2-3 wins per season. Kill 2 birds with one stone, Bombers get better/Riders get worse.

The prosecution needs for one or two conspirators to save themselves by striking deals and turning on others. There is evidence this is already happening.

I've wondered this as well. I spent about a decade working in that industry and a lot of truckers could be described as loners (not in a negative way). Live almost entirely in their trucks, have small families if any at all. And even when dropping/picking up trailers there is minimal if any contact with someone else...and even then it's mostly outside. But I firmly believe this protest is 100% about the $$. Someone is going to be making a lot of it through this and it's not going to change a damn thing. I feel sorry those dumb enough to join in/donate to it...well not that sorry.

These ‘pro choice medical treatment’ people need to be full court pressed on social responsibility. Having to educate an adult on this is mind boggling. There are so many other things mandated in society that allows these same people to live in a environment free of inappropriate behaviour that directly impacts them.

Bolsonaro’s Far-Right Guru Who Dismissed ‘Moronavirus’ Pandemic Dies of COVID -Reuters Brazil’s far-right President Jair Bolsonaro has declared a national day of mourning after his COVID-denying mentor died of the virus. Olavo de Carvalho, 74, was a longtime right-wing crusader in Brazil who was crucial in Bolsonaro’s shock rise to power in the 2018 presidential election. Carvalho’s relatives announced his death Monday, but didn’t say how he died. However, his estranged daughter, Heloísa de Carvalho, revealed Tuesday that her dad died from COVID-19. He had spent the pandemic playing down the severity of the virus, dismissing it as the “moronavirus” and writing in a tweet in May 2020: “The fear of a supposedly deadly virus is nothing more than a little horror story designed to scare the population and make them accept slavery as they would a present from Father Christmas.” In a mournful statement, Bolsonaro described his mentor as “one of the greatest thinkers in our country’s history.”

Young Father Denied Heart Transplant Because He Refuses to Get COVID Vaccine A 31-year-old father in need of a heart transplant has been bumped from the transplant list at Brigham and Women’s Hospital because he won’t get vaccinated against COVID-19, CBS Boston reports. “It’s kind of against his basic principles—he doesn’t believe in it,” David Ferguson told the news outlet of his son, DJ Ferguson. The father of two was at the top of the transplant list until he was removed over his vaccination status, his father said. It was not immediately clear why he was in need of a heart transplant. The hospital released a statement explaining that the vaccine requirement is standard policy, as the jab creates “both the best chance for a successful operation and also the patient’s survival after transplantation.” Arthur Caplan, the head of Medical Ethics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, put it more simply: “Post any transplant, kidney, heart whatever, your immune system is shut off. The flu could kill you, a cold could kill you, COVID could kill you. The organs are scarce, we are not going to distribute them to someone who has a poor chance of living when others who are vaccinated have a better chance post-surgery of surviving.” Young Father Denied Heart Transplant Because He Refuses to Get COVID Vaccine (thedailybeast.com) (I suppose this was inevitable and has probably happened already without announcement. But it is tragic and very very stupid)

The Wexit people are in on the protests and Trump banners have been reported. I support the testing. If you come back infected, you can spread it quickly to many people, some of whom who are vulnerable. We have enough Covidiots locally that we do not need to add to that number, and for truckers, its part of the cost of doing business. My son and daughter in law recently returned from Hawaii and were tested going and returning, and considered it as necessary- no big deal.

So I asked myself this very question about how the committee can get around someone pleading the 5th, and this video does a decent job explaining some of the options. Bottom line, if the committee really needs testimony they will offer immunity. And then they need to be picky about who it is offered to. It needs to be someone who (a) is not such a big fish that giving them a break will feel like a deal with the devil that perverts justice (b) has important enough information to pin down the real targets (c) someone whose testimony can be found reliable and credible, or can be proven to be a lie thus opening them up for perjury if they try to lie (d) has a side benefit that the damage to their reputation offsets the loss of criminal prosecution and hurts them anyway (e) someone who has legitimate fear of worse criminal consequences if they refuse to take an immunity deal, so they are motivated to cut a deal to save their skin and will give up the good dirt. So who fits that orbit?

  34. Dude, I coached high school football for 23 years too. I am yet to see a 6'5/250 lb that can run a 4.5/40 with great hands kid that got overlooked by anyone. We had a Bomber scout come and look at one in his senior year but within five minutes he told us he needs a ton of work on his route running and his speed needs work. Gave him some contacts for developmental guys that could help him with these things. He went on to Div 3 ball in the US and never saw the field. In 23 years of WHS school football...one guy....that's as close as he got....and WHS yielded many great CFLers. There are NOT a ton of these guys around. 6'5/250 with 4.5 speed is not an easy find either north/south of the border. To find them with great hands, route running and a head on their shoulders even tougher. There is a reason the NFL snaps them all up. Sure, tons of kids that got away. I saw some of the best football natural talents walk away instead of playing HS ball as well. That doesn't change the fact that TE types just aren't readily available at the pro level.

There was nothing selfless in his actions... he didn't give up the heart to someone else- he was denied the heart because of his selfishness. Sorry to knit-pick, I just wanted to point that out.

It's so obvious (other than being high on coke) that he wants to be his dad. I bet he practices his word inflections with the mirror he did his blow with. You most definitely have to be a specific type of person who thinks to themselves and says out loud 'now there's a guy who knows what he's talking about'.

As I said a few pages back, vaccine status does (at least in some jurisdictions) change prioritization for transplants. If the doctors judge that not being vaccinated will harm the chance of survival of a patient - then someone who will have better survivability should get priority - especially if it is something that is readily accessible and a matter of making a decision (a vaccine). If the patient overrules the doctor and decides they understand medicine better, then they have the consequences - unfortunately the family and others that rely on this father will be impacted unjustly. Fortunately, someone who is willing to accept doctors understand medicine better will receive the heart. Ironic that an act of selfishness can turn into a selfless act by providing the heart to someone else in need 🤔

It's one thing to turn down all medical treatment but to pick and choose certain treatments over "principles"? What sort of cocktail of medicine do you think you need to take for your body to accept a heart?
