  1. Some people are trying to make the Harris situation a little too black and white... it's possible neither side is really "at fault" and this was just the only result for both sides... Harris still wants to play, be the lead back, and get compensated fairly... The Bombers want to start transitioning to the younger backs and only have a limited amount of dollars to spend at RB... so this was just the result that worked best for both parties... Harris will still live in Wpg after the season and be a brand into the future... he's just going to finish his CFL career with a year or two in Toronto.

  2. I wonder if any other teams currently or in the past in the CFL has ever lost a group of players? I wonder what the Bombers are going to do without the ability to replace these now gone players with recruiting and/or free agency. I wonder when the Bombers will ever prove that they can recruit new talent and/or demonstrate that they can find depth at many positions? What did we do last year when we started brand new DB's? How did we ever survive with brand new talent? Imagine if a team like Calgary would ever lose a player or two to the NFL or other teams, I wonder what would of ever happened if they lost a premium receiver?

  3. We’re not broke. Walters always says this. So does Hufnagel. Nobody needs to know we have money to spend until we spend it.

  4. I think it's safe to say the Bombers got worse this year and a lot of teams got better. The gap last year was huge though, so we had some margin.

  5. I don't remember this. I remember lots of people getting by Hecht at safety.

  6. It's sad that our heroes age out sometimes. Adams and Harris will always hold fond memories to me but realistically the impact of losing them will not be felt as highly as if we could not re-sign the Jeffs or Big Stan and Yoshi for instance. Choices had to be made by Walters and you gotta look where your best plan B is in effect and not let the heart over rule the head sometimes.

  7. Andrew Harris could have been a Bomber this year. The choice was his too. Some people saying that the Bombers did him wrong but he owns a big part of it as well. We know guys like Jeffcoat and Bighill are leaving 50-100k on the table to come back, they chose to be Bombers. Andrew had that same choice in front of him, and at age 35 he should have known that this was going to be the way it ended with us someday. If he feels that an extra 50k in Toronto is the way he wants this to go down...that's on him. This won't be a popular take but he valued himself higher than the team imo, and that's his right to do so, but let's not spit out the narrative that the Bombers did anything wrong in their treatment of him. If Harris wanted to sign a contract more indicative of his age, and diminished reliability, he is still a Bomber.

    Covid-19

Of course it isn't. It's not oppression at all. There is literally nothing oppressive about this country's response to the pandemix. These knuckle-dragging morons wouldn't know oppression if it broke down their door, dragged them out of their homes, and beat them in the street. They're that ******* stupid.

  10. I mean, let’s just call it what it is. Harris didn’t just develop this chip on his shoulder when he became a Bomber, he’s been like that his entire career and for the most part, it’s served to work for him and not against him. In this case, it may have worked against him. There’s nothing wrong with expressing some doubt in a 35 year old who plays a position 35 year olds don’t play, especially when you’ve seen a history of ongoing issues related to your concerns. He wasn’t coming to camp in shape, the team was a bit put off because they expected more and they asked to try and meet in a middle ground. “If you’re telling us your commitment to staying in shape isn’t going to be an issue, show us” isn’t an unreasonable request. Quite honestly, this isn’t meant to shine negatively upon anyone but we all know if this was anyone BUT Harris, we’d all be in the corner of Walters and O’Shea. Wade is in the business of promoting the team. Walters and O’Shea are not. Hometown kid or not, they’re in the business of winning football games and while I may or may not agree with their choice, I understand the thought process that went into it.

  11. Gotta think walters is saving some money in the event guys like Desjarlais come back from the NFL. He has never liked spending right to the cap from the get go. Always leave some wiggle room.

And wait till free agency and pay way more?...of all the starters, along with Miller, Briggs and Gauthier all woulkd have got snapped up in a heartbeat

  15. If Lalji is correct on Andrew Harris's deal with Toronto, I say wow - good for Andrew! Not surprised Kyle would not go near that figure for a 35-year-old who was only able to suit up for 7 games last season. Great respect for AH here however - hope he comes back to retire as a Blue Bomber after next season.

  23. This is Walters' curse. He's responsible for continuing to build a winner and will have to let players like Harris walk at some point. Can't stop rebuilding. We've had our parades and it's time for another Bomber team to earn another. LFG!

  27. Harris got 165k, 40k of it upfront. Not an astronomical amount but I can’t see a way we could’ve made that fit, to be honest.

Oh for f#$& sakes... if the Canadian women's hockey team can play a whole game with masks on, is it really that oppressive to ask you to wear a mask to go shopping?!?

The protest is no longer about Vaccinations, if it ever was. It is becoming clear that this is an Ad Hoc coalition of those who feel that their views are not reflected in the governance of the country, in spite of the fact that many of these views are abhorrent to most Canadians, illegal, rooted in the biases and bigotry of the past and reflective of the lunatic fringe which has gained ascendancy in the US. If you want a clear example of how at least the Winnipeg police are defferential to the exclusively white protesters, consider how they went into the squatters' camp recently with no hesitation about enforcing the law and tore it all down. Most of the squatters were native, and it is not difficult to read racism into that.

  31. was purely a football scenario that happens everywhere...bang for buck...value and risk....transition....setting up for the longer haul and not just living in the now....I'm fine with it now...we kept our core..which is still best in league, kept our recruiting department intact. Which is now best in league, same with our coaching staff...I'd have lost my **** if we retained Adams, Harris and Lawler, but still lost Stove...One of the Jeffs, Prob one or both our tackles and possibly a Rose or Biggie....

Over 1/4 of the city's annual budget goes to our police and virtually every penny of budget increase goes directly to salary. I wouldn't mind it if I thought they were actually good at their jobs, or if they weren't infested with power tripping wife abusing blackmailers.

  34. That's an amazing deal for Trevor Harris. As for Watford... he sucks unless you want a QB only for those 1 yard plunges.

  38. Sad to see Darvin and Harris go, but it had to happen eventually. Darvin isn't the receiver he once was, but he was still a hell of blocker and great guy to have on the team. Made some big plays when it counted in the 2019 and 2021 playoffs. Nice finish for him in blue and gold catching the game winning TD in the cup. Harris clearly struggled with injuries last year but looked great when on the field. Too bad they couldn't work out a deal but had to move on to younger guys at some point. He no longer had to be the focal point of the O with Collaros around. For a few years he carried the team, but the team improved enough that he didn't have to carry them anymore. Wish him good luck in TO and glad he's not playing in the West.

  39. Think it’s impossible to say any team is the best team on paper at this point, too much turnover and changing of key people in key spots. Not to say it won’t get fixed up, but we’ve currently got major kicking questions (which were a massive issue prior to Sergio last year), no returner and some issues in the defensive secondary plus our Canadian depth took a hit. On the bright side, we have some good pieces in the pipeline in Dobson (to replace Eli) and Patrice Rene (to replace some Canadian D depth) but they’ve gotta sign.

  42. It's not about money, it's about how much is left in the tank. Bombers don't trust his body to hold up.

  43. True... but let me list a few names to make you feel better... Bryant, Collaros, Hardrick, Bailey, Bighill, Jefferson, Jeffcoat, Rose, Neufeld, Oliviera... feel better yet?

  44. I wonder what they said in BC in 2011 when Harris took over in the backfield. "It's a mistake. It's a mistake". But it wasn't. guys have to play to get better.

  45. 18 Really...Maston was a starter until injured...So his signing and Darby exit is a wash...he'd have been a nice fit at safety until BA is back, but I sure one of the Hallets can hold it down, or one of the imports... Agree with @Colin Unger Walters made sure he signed the vital guys...ones who you won't replace with better in free agency, and has faith in the returning PR guys, and scouting staff to fill the voids. Pretty sure both Rene and Dobson make active roster next yr too if they don't get NFL gigs

  46. It would be nice if AH33 were still here... But I always think about what happened after 2007. The MO was to keep the team together, and go get a championship next year That DID NOT work out - they clearly retained some players that they needed to move on from I have found this off-season to be a nice balance of retention and recruitment...so far.
