You are what you stand next to...... If you see horrible things like Nazi-ism, racism, etc... and you don't do something about it (or at the very least, immediately remove yourself from that situation) then you are part of that problem....

And that's the issue- they will be the ones in hospitals and ICUs, and the people who are fully vaxxed that were in a car accident won't have a bed in the ICU because of all the antivaxxers are sitting on ventilators... oh, you just had a heart attack- sorry, no bed for you. No beds, means NO beds. The whole reason for all the mandates was to protect our healthcare system. So no, it's not as simple as "**** those that don't".

Not sure what iccuoati9n means but the Ottawa situation isn't based out of hate. It's based about people thinking about a violation of their own freedoms. It mostly stems from ignorance and selfishness but I wouldn't say it's hate at all. I'd think a world history lesson or even current world events if you were to step out of your bubble and educate yourself about what goes around the world you would ACTUALLY learn what hate is. I'd consider people getting murdered purely based on color of skin/religion and other factors to be true hate crimes. I don't consider a bunch of uninformed yokels honking horns blocking traffic and saying they dont' want to be controlled the same as people living in fear and hiding because they will get beaten or killed. Calling people out on social media seems pretty cowardly and lazy if you truly cared about the situation. Complaining about a situation from a keyboard anonymously seems much less brave then putting yourself out there in the line of fire and standing up for what you believe. While I don't agree or share the same beliefs of those people I can at least understand that the reason that most people are doing what they are doing is because they feel violated. Similar to the BLM events from recent years I'm sure some bad eggs are hopping on and trying to stir **** up or use this event as a reason to be an *******. To paint everyone as a nazi dear lord the amount of ignorance and close mindedness makes me feel like I'm on the Riderfans forum. It's almost like I'm talking from someone in the Bible Belt Winkler area... that's what it seems like? Very similar close minded mentality but this time on the opposite end of the spectrum that some folks in the Bible Belt think like.

  14. Really....going into last yr we weren't the favorite...everyone was saying cats again....Riders were the team in the west...u till those teams played us.. then the narrative changed and most critics wised up We going in just as strong .. especially on defence...we didnt start with a Rose or Wilson...same with Nichols...we are this yr...Stove didn't define us...and our defence with whomever is in his spot will be more than adequate for us to get off running this yr Maston and Darby is a wash...if anything Maston brings more physicality which will be nice until BA makes his appearance...and what a mid season addition that will be...it will be just like an NFL guy getting back...and it could coincide with a Kongbo sighting. Same can be said on offence... cohesion and familiarity we have in spades...Ellingson will fit in seemlessly as he and ZC have history...and he knows how to attack CFL defenses...so at worst we playing 1 new guy (reciever) to our system and league in general...again...we will hit the ground running while other teams gotta learn all the new pieces.

  16. I'm not worried but also don't think we can expect the same quality of team from last year.... that was the peak. We could get there again but that was one of the best CFL teams I have ever seen. It remains to be seen whether Oliveira or Augustine can fill the starting RB role. I like both players but starting at RB is a tough job and Harris is an all-time great. We can expect a drop in performance and some challenges throughout the season. Personally I believe the biggest loss will be Desjarlais - he is one of my favourite Bomber OL ever to watch. Our whole OL was spectacular but that left side was unbeatable. I'm confident Geoff Gray can be a starter but again I don't expect the same level of performance. I haven't seen anything to suggest that Stanley Bryant will start to show his age but it will come at some point. Maybe this year maybe not. Luckily pretty much the entire rest of the CFL is a mess. Continuity has been blown away completely. I think that even though we are seeing more changes in Winnipeg this year, we are STILL going to be the team that brings back the strongest core. We are still the Grey Cup favourite but less so than going into last season.

    Covid-19

From the very article you posted - "Experts say COVID-19 vaccine mandates have been effective at reducing transmission, hospitalizations and compelling people to get vaccinated, but ending them too soon could undo some of what’s been accomplished in the past year." The article does a good job of discussing both sides of the argument. Obviously this is a very dynamic situation as we learn more about the virus and the potential limitations of vaccinations/booster shots. I agree that there is less of a case for mandates when they aren't as protective for infection/transmission, but they are still overwhelmingly keeping hospitals from being overrun and keeping vulnerable people protected. Boosters are currently protective against infection/transmission. The situation may also change as more vaccines emerge, including Omicron-specific vaccines and vaccines with potentially longer lasting protection. It may also change as new variants emerge, we don't really know. Now that the prairie provinces have caved to occupiers it will be very hard to ever re-introduce mandates for vaccines or masking, even if science is overwhelmingly in favour of it. We know who's voices have priority. It still seems like there is significant consensus among health experts that mask mandates should continue as well.

I completely disagree with your assertion that the passports have server their purpose. 2 doses isn't enough anymore? Then the passport means you need 3 doses minimum. Keep changing it as long as is necessary. Denmark removed all restrictions and a month later they're seeing record numbers of hospitalizations and deaths. What all levels of government are doing right now is reckless and life threatening to far too many.

The issue with defending protestors is you have people illegally blocking access at the Canadian/American border, that's not people being tired of mandates, that's people choosing to engage in criminal activity which in mind my is terrorism. You have people blocking access to hospitals (see Boundry Trails Hospital). You have protestors harrassing clients going to the Women's Clinic downtown. You have protestors blocking roads in cities. You had protestors holding a protest at a school causing it to lock down. The blowing of horns and trains whistles making living in some areas difficult. Not to mention the numerous reports of protestors spewing racist and sexist comments to individuals walking by and the individuals with confederate and nazi flags. I'm not sure how one can defend this.

Listen, I live among these Nazi loving assholes every day. Rural AB is a strange place. And I call it out on social mediw every chance I get. The difference between your scenario of a SC parade and the Ottawa iccuoati9n/insurrection is, the parades purpose isn't hate, while the Ottawa (and other cities) situation is that 8ta based around hate. Everyone is there because they're angry and full of hate.

Good grief. First off, it's the other way around- not everyone who voted "trump is 100% racist/nazi/criminal horrible human", but every 100% racist/nazi/criminal horrible human voted for trump. if it appeals to these poeple, one should probably re-examine their moral compass. I don't think calling a nazi sympathizer a nazi is making light of nazis- it underlines that there is NO PLACE where support that **** is acceptable.

If Evans gets his game back....when Moore gets back...mid season...and if Schaefer Baker has a second solid season..kinda flamed out last part of season...and who's the other Canadian reciever and back up? Even Duke..let's see if in he Duke of 2018.. I'd take Bailey ..Ellingson ..Demski or whitehead..Burnham..Rhymes over their top 3...same with Weineke..Lewis..and Whatever their 3rd is And then...online..what did they do to improve that pile of crap? Nothing...and their dline just got gutted and no clear replacement.

    Covid-19

It is hard to rationalize this when you hear what Dr. Tam and other global health experts are saying. Or should we just assume they are caving to people who are tired of the restrictions? That their decisions are not based on public health data? I have a hard time thinking of trained professionals in that way, especially given that our Canadian experts have imposed some of the toughest restrictions in the world.

    Covid-19

    1) I've heard this lots. Like it has some kind of meaning. Yes people do get it and recover just fine. But that just isn't the case for everyone. Not sure why one matters more than the other. 2) I agree that there arent a lot of truckers that are a part of this. Nazi's too, though 1 nazi is too many for me and they should be violently silenced afaic. However there does seem to be a minority of white supremist a part of this. Pat King is calling for today to be "Orange shirt day". We all know Sept 30th is also called that, for a specific reason. Trying to co-opt that movement is a **** head thing to do and again should be met with violence afaic. 3) I'm not sure I've seen anyone advocate for people to not work and just stay at home and do nothing. 4) Who do you think believes this? 5) This can be said for 1 side. But I don't think it applies to the side you think it does. 6) The only answer out of this that will work is increased taxes or leaving the increased taxes to our children. Private won't work at all. And increasing our spending on infrastructure should have started 20 years before Covid. We are too far behind now, which is why every government won't do what's needed, because the taxes would be increased significantly, basically ending their hope of winning an election. On top of that, how many of these protestors do you think would support driving up taxes (not 1 or 2% like 5 or 10%) to get us out of this? 7) You have no way of proving this.

    Covid-19

Just want to contrast that with the reality that I know from working with some of the most affected families. I teach a group of kids who have someone in their family that is at high risk of dying if they contract Covid. There are people in their families that have had to quit their jobs in order to protect someone vulnerable at their house. There are kids trying to take classes while in the hospital. These kids have not been able to see friends for almost 2 years because of the risk to their lives that it poses. They have accepted these realities because that is what is required to keep them safe. The more Covid that is spreading in communities, the more these families are at risk regardless of how careful they try to be. They can get Covid from the many doctor appointments they have. They can get Covid from going to pick up groceries. These are kids who desperately want to play with friends again, but a reckless attitude towards Covid places them at too great of a risk. While this is my experience with a vulnerable group, there are many other vulnerable groups who are similarly put at heightened risk and lose some freedoms because of uncontained Covid spread in communities. It is so easy to pretend that the pandemic is over because we all desperately want normal lives back, but that fairy tale just isn't the case. Hospitals are still "flexing" for capacity which means normal operations are just not happening. This puts everyone at risk. We are learning more about the lingering effects of a Covid infection, including for mild cases which would not be considered "long covid". There is an increased risk of kids developing type 1 diabetes after a previous Covid infection. There are likely also lingering effects in the brain and heart from Covid post-infection. It is easy to frame it as "scared to go out", but why not "scared to wear a mask" or "scared to get a vaccination"? Both should actually not be a big deal breaker when we are talking about saving lives and protecting from long term effects of Covid. If masks/vaccinations aren't mandated, those most likely to be infected/spread are placing an even greater burden on those who choose to stay safe. The vast majority of the population does not support moving on. According to a recent Leger poll only 32% support removing all restrictions. In addition, I am assuming a lot of people are still underestimating the impact of Covid because of government attitudes towards Covid - "if they say if is over/safe, then we really should be opening up." This is not what the WHO or most medical experts say.

    Covid-19

Let me preface my comments and say I am a big supporter of balanced budgets in most situations. One of the reasons is that it then allows us to run a deficit in tough times. I fully understand where printing money and hyper inflation takes us because Ive lived through it. I'm vaxed, still go out and have been a big supporter of our rules. And would like to see the rules slowly reduced. I agree maybe let's ignore the Nazis at these protests. But %90 the others that are protesting have been fighting the rules all along. If we had followed their ways we would have overwhelmed our hospital system. Look up the numbers. Can you imagine matching Peru's %6 fatality rate ? I know multiple anti vaxers whose lives were saved in ICU when they got Covid because there was room for them. These are people who have fought any rules from the start. There is no nation, no society , no civilization ,nor has there ever been one that has not had restrictions on freedoms. What we can't allow is a small group of people to do is stop business, stop trade, and give a black eye to this country internationally. The City, the truckers association, the business associations all are asking for it to be stopped. As far as your solutions for fixing our healthcare system let's discuss #1 ,going totally private. I will ignore Switzerland because they are an outlier in every discussion on anything. Let's look at the US. MY figures are prepandemic and off the top of my head but they should be quite accurate. Cost, Canada - % 10.7 of our GDP. US - % 17.3. Effectiveness, Canada 12- 14 th in life expectancy. The US 32- 35th in life expectancy. Just for fun see if you can name 35 modern, advanced functioning countries. It puts them down with some very ugly company. The last time I looked, the number 1 cause of bankruptcy in the US was illness. The vast majority of people in the US want universal healthcare. But their well to do people are quite healthy. A totally private system can't even enter the discussion. There are many other systems we can look at to fix the inadequacies in our system. Interestingly France had quite a low death rate during Covid and their particular system is often rated very high. But there is no system in the world that wasn't overloaded in Covid. Finally I know just as many people who have been affected by the rules who are pro mask, and vax, as those who aren't. What we see at the protests and blockades are the childish ,arrogant , selfish and thoughtless ones.
