Yep you are correct. You'd think they could get a university film crew From each city to film it. Have some one from tsn show run make it an hour and bounce between say 4 teams. Can't believe they couldn't match the quality of last chance u. Follow the Bombers riders cats and rbs mainly and mix in some from the rest.3 points

The only thing in here I'll agree with is bring back Fantaseh. That was amazing and I want it back. I hate the TSN weekly roster thing. Lame. Give me a full season team that we draft in May. The fantasy draft with buddies over some drinks is most of the fun... Always a great time.3 points -

Can't speak for Winnipeg & Manitoba as I live in Calgary but for football here in Alberta there is no cost for equipment at any level. Teams provide the equipment. Parents don't have to go out & buy anything other than cleats & gloves for their kids. The cost of the equipment is built into the fees. There's a fitting day before the first practice. Then the kids have to hand the equipment back at season's end. Parents do have to provide a postdated cheque for an amount that would financially hurt (like $1,000) if the equipment goes unreturned by a certain date or if things are damaged or missing & that's it. It never gets cashed if the equipment is returned & is useable for the next season. Tackle football in Alberta is one of the most affordable sports there is.2 points -

Totally off topic. But I'm kinda annoyed with football manitoba right now. Maybe someone here can shed some light. My son wants to play football but he is only old enough for flag football (which is some how linked to the Bombers as it's called Bomber futures or something close). The cost is $245.00...for flag football!? Why? Tackle is $290. The real kicker here is to play soccer (same amount of games) is $65. We don't qualify for assistance or anything and I'm not trying to come off as if we're hurting for $ either....but damn the budget is tight right now. And $65 is a lot easy to justify than $245!!! Talk about helping grow the game of football....that's gonna continue to be difficult at that price point considering the alternatives. And just for comparison, I've played touch football for close to 20 years and have never payed more than $150.2 points -
He wasn't signing. Weekes mentioned it as did dreger. Guess he didn't wanna be 4c. Honestly tho with Appleton being a rw... Smith almost not needed Dubois scheif Lowry Gus Guess no spot for Smith who I liked but he didn't impress at the Olympics Essentially got a 4th for him tho so win win2 points

I'd think it would be too soon for the new owner to be pushing something like that. He, by his own admission, has been pretty quiet so far as he learns the ropes. He has also said he feels the league's biggest issues are off the field. "The game is excellent. The product — there’s nothing wrong with it. The league does not need surgery, it needs attention, and it needs fan base and needs passion,” said Doman. “This is deeper than a business turnaround. This is engaging people. This is getting advertising and marketing back to a high level."2 points -
Although I seem to know less as I learn more, I can't help myself from seeking new information. This Topic is best utilized for older stories of historic and scientific nature, or they'd be in the "Random News Section". Mods can kill this if they don't see a need, but I imagine at least some of us are learning something new almost every day that's worth sharing. Maybe instead of arguing about the same old things, we might want to figure out why we're arguing and how we got here. Today I learned (from a 2012 news article) that humans almost became extinct 72,000 years ago. How Human Beings Almost Vanished From Earth In 70,000 B.C. October 22, 201212:33 PM ET Add all of us up, all 7 billion human beings on earth, and clumped together we weigh roughly 750 billion pounds. That, says Harvard biologist E.O. Wilson, is more than 100 times the biomass of any large animal that's ever walked the Earth. And we're still multiplying. Most demographers say we will hit 9 billion before we peak, and what happens then? Well, we've waxed. So we can wane. Let's just hope we wane gently. Because once in our history, the world-wide population of human beings skidded so sharply we were down to roughly a thousand reproductive adults. One study says we hit as low as 40. https://www.npr.org/sections/krulwich/2012/10/22/163397584/how-human-beings-almost-vanished-from-earth-in-70-000-b-c1 point

Ouch, that's awful expensive for flag football, for a lot of people that don't qualify for assistance. When we ran our tackle program in the North End in the 70's and 80's we found ways to reduce the costs including having socials and bingos to support the clubs. We raised our profile from one team of 20 kids to a dozen with over 600 kids in less than a decade by doing this. The key was keeping it affordable and having good programs with knowledgeable coaches. It's no wonder that kids sports are mostly soccer now as that's what working parents can easily budget for. To keep kids in these programs we need to find unique ways to fund and keep costs low. $245 for 8-10 GAMES OF FLAG FOOTBALL IS CRAZY! Sounds like they are trying to offload field costs which is just stupid! I remember when we bought the Hawkeye's field for $1 and the city agreed to cover the taxes for the next century. I guess things are done differently now.1 point -

Barron 9 goals 6 assists in 25 games for ahl Harford. Big guy. Nice scouting report plus basically 2 2nds and a 5th? What more can you expect? Stastny? I know a couple people in the biz and I texted the one guy and they said there was no Market for him so much so that he wasn't even in the top 30 on tsn or sportsnet today. You aren't getting superstars for rentals but that's a huge haul for essentially our 3rd line winger who wasn't signing here1 point -

Goalie reacted to the watcher for a topic
Barron can still develop into a good player. One of the 2nd s could easily become a 1st. The other 2nd we can choose to take it in another year. Plus we exchanged picks , gaining a round. That's a pretty good return. I loved watching Copp play but he is a 3 line center ( a good one) , that can move up in a pinch. A good solid player but not at all flashy. If you were expecting much more you were deluding yourself.1 point -

JCon reacted to Bigblue204 for a topic
There is no equipment. Flags and a couple balls I guess. Tackle is $290. There are no set practice fields, the games are held on fields that tackle uses from what I understand. There can't be that many refs per game, I've seen this flag football being played and there are never more than 2 that I can see. No facility costs for storing equipment. Coaches are volunteers (They ask if a parent would want to coach at the end of registration). So insurance, field costs and a couple shirts (all of which I pay for to play touch and it's almost half the cost). And like I said this is some how in partnership with the Bombers. How expensive would it be if they weren't partnered?? Or is it just a name recognition thing? I don't know...but I really hope someone in that organization knows that is a problem. I'm very likely going to be signing up, but damn the amount of kids who aren't going to be able to due to only cost...they gotta fix that.1 point -

The only equipment cost is the flags, which, I can assure you, are fully amortized. And, the t-shirts, which are sponsored. They need fields to play on, so that's a cost. Refs too. But, compared to indoor, why the same cost?1 point

Isn't it their job to say stuff like this to continually stoke interest in the team? They have to drink the Kool-Aid. You won't hear any Jets broadcaster tell you otherwise until they are officially out of the playoffs. And mathematically they're not eliminated, so it's easy filler for any media outlets to say the Jets are still in the playoff race because it's true. I think most of us are resigned to the fact that they will miss the playoffs and we want Chevy to make some more moves for next year.1 point -

California MAGA candidate says she’s running because Jesus spoke to her son in a closet California Republican Rachel Hamm is running for Secretary of State in the June primary. Like many candidates, she is speaking about her motivation for running. Like many GOP candidates, she is claiming God was involved in her decision. Unlike any other candidate, Hamm says Jesus spoke to her son in a closet and told her to declare her candidacy. “I’ve been a prophetic dreamer so I had spent a lot of 2019 and 20 having a lot of political dreams that I was in office. And because our youngest son, Ezekiel is a seer I went and got him and I said, ‘Hey, can you look around and see what you’re seeing?’ Because I just really, I get a kick out of hearing him describe, you know, what he sees?” “And so, he said, you know, let me know if you see anything. And so he looked at my bedroom and my bathroom. He said, ‘There’s nothing there.’ And then he goes into the closet – which is where I had been when I was praying – and he said, ‘Whoa,’ and his eyes got like, big as saucers, and he kind of like started backing away, and then started bending down and he said, ‘You’ve got a really big guy in your closet, and his power is pushing me to the ground,’ and we had never had he’d never had that reaction ever, to an angel. And so I’m like, is he’s for us, not against us, right?” https://www.alternet.org/2022/03/jesus/ (And many of the GOPers know a lot about closets)1 point
