I remember telling my dad on the way to that game, for absolutely no reason at all, that Greg Carr was the next great Bomber receiver. Then he had like 2 catches for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns at half before his leg exploded and he missed the rest of the game and I thought I was a genius. I think 21 year old me just kept hoping we were going to find the next Milt Stegall, I even had a Jeffers-Harris jersey. 😆6 points -

CBA doesn't expire until Saturday, and technically the newbies aren't covered by it because they haven't made a team yet......so mini camp should be going ahead as scheduled tomorrow! Sunday's "Main Camp" opening is somewhat in jeopardy (except not really because they'll get this worked out...)4 points

I think more than anything, we can see where the threats are coming from. We'll maintain strong connections to Europe but we're going to be further and further isolated from our nearest neighbours. Both Dems and GOP pose a threat. Traditionally, Dems have used economic means to attack Canada (protectionist) but the GOP valued our strategic partnership. However, with the recent antidemocratic, pro-fascist actions by the GOP, we're going to be in tough. That poison is seeping into our country and a major political party is mouthing the same rhetoric. The US is a threat to our democracy aa they turn away from it.3 points -

I knew a man that worked there, and witnessed this. I think he told me books and records were just carted away and destroyed. He was a scientist, so, you can easily imagine what he thought. harper also closed the world famous experimental lakes research projects. Saved by Manitoba government.... NDP .." and other organizations. It makes sense if the Federal government is run firstly to benefit the oil and mining industries.3 points

No shame in any of that. Jeffers-Harris had all the talent in the world before attitude took him out of the game. Carr was awesome but learned the hard way that sometimes the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence and he struggled in a different offence.2 points -

Willie easily fits in the NFL but when you’re buddies with Josh Gordon and you don’t have the undisputed, undeniable talent that JG has, the NFL looks to the guys with as much talent who aren’t going to give you behavioural issues. I think Willie had the talent to make it as a tight end in the NFL but his college attitude problems were just too much to ignore at the time.2 points -

It's not that simple. I was a wheat board permit holder. I hadn't grown wheat for years because I had moved to forage and cattle. It no longer effected me but I could have voted. There were many , many older farmers renting out their land who were still permit holders. It wasn't a simple thing . If you took a poll now it would be 80 or 90 percent that are happy to be able to market wheat and barley like the rest of their crops. It came into being when wheat was king in the prairies. It no longer is. With the diversification of crops now it is very difficult for grain companies to hold farmers hostage as they just switch crops. And in a big generalisation farmers today are better educated and very savy about marketing. Yes , there was alot of ideology involved in allowing farmers to market outside the Wheat Board. But in this case it probably worked out for the better.2 points -

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/us-senator-canada-freeloader-1.6448053 Canada no doubt has to do more, especially with respect to its NATO obligations (I'll save the arctic sovereignty discussion for another time), but Sullivan should lay off the hyperbole and at least get his facts straight before spouting off like a typical GOP mouthpiece.2 points -

Thought the same thing about mike simms walker too. He would've smashed records if he stayed healthy. To be fair, outside of 01 and 02 we were lucky to have a good no2 guy behind milt. A lot of great names came through in the early to mid 2ks, but only 2 great careers.1 point

In all fairness. Through good years and bad years we were always spoiled with good to great receivers like Gordon, Stegall, Bruce, Simon, and even Armstrong and Edwards. Our standards for ridiculous receivers were quite high. Now I’m just hoping we can get atleast just one receiver from these camps to be a competent starter.1 point -

They are following Ronald Reagan (the FBI informer) who said that he wanted to shrink government to a size so small that he could then drown it in a bathrtub. We're still in the first phase of the post Endgame timeline. A lot of moving parts that will come together, over time. Just like when they introduced all the Avengers, one by one, they're doing the same here. We know that Kang is the big villain now but Galactus is coming. Still need the Fantastic Four before we get there. Will Gorr be defeated permanently? I know that the multiverse has long been part of the Marvel Universe. And, frankly, it works fine in comics but, IMO, it's wayyyy too big to try to tackle over a series of 10 to 20 films. It's too confusing for casuals and makes absolutely anything possible. It's almost like a sandbox where nothing matters and no consequences. Why not have 20 Spider-men-women-pigs-etc? I wish we could back to the single timeline.1 point

I was the opposite on the Spider-man movies. Far from home dragged on for me, but I loved No way home. As for the multiverse stuff in these movies I believe they are looking to eventually work in the Secret Wars plot from Marvel comics. Oh and yeah Eternals is exactly as bad as it looks. I tried watching it a few times and always fell asleep.1 point -
