  3. Good to see Saunders making an impact. He had great chemistry with Collaros in Hamilton. My biggest worry was his injury history but it looks like he might have a spot on this team! This might just be Zach’s best group of weapons he’s had since he’s been here.

  4. Dropped a couple hundred bucks at bomber store today after the futures camp. Got a Stanley Bryant home jersey on the way and new hats and shirts for the family!! Week 1 can't come soon enough!!

  5. I'm gon a head to the practice today,I'll focus more on receivers and QBs with having to throw a little further and what routes are being ran now with a wider field.

  6. The most underrated part of Winnipeg is the commute. No matter where you’re going it’s never more then 30 minutes away inside the city, that’s a luxury you’ll just never get in a big city.

  7. I only caught 1 good scrimmage but there wasn't too much of a difference I could notice today. Lots of missed deep corner passes so it may have been poor passes or the change in the hash marks throwing things off on some receivers. I'm wondering if you'll see more slot screens than screens to the wideouts due to the hash marks moved closer together, these field changes could unload a whole new bunch of tricky play calls or a bunch we've never seen.

  9. Yeah one thing to consider to is yes the housing market is crazy but in Vancouver a literal inhabitable shack is on the market for 1.5 million, meanwhile me and my girl friend were about to buy our first home before we were 30 for under 200 thousand in a safe neighbourhood so like I said pros and cons to each city, if I was living in Vancouver or a place like Toronto or Montreal the dream of owning a home would be just that.. a dream.

  11. The cold is probably a good thing, keeps out the riff raff... I have travelled to a few places...... in and out of canada. The landscapes you see in Manitoba are pretty darn nice. the town of Pinawa, retirement community, quiet, has a hospital, music, the arts, right on the banks of very beautiful Winnipeg river, absolute wilderness, one hour drive through farmland, to the Peg. amazing.

  12. A surprisingly weak number reserved for many back-up QBs and DBs, but one iconic photo makes today’s choice an easy one. Kicker Alexis Serna being consoled by coach Richard Harris after a tough game.

  14. I absolutely love Manitoba so I’m with you on that. Just bought a cabin last fall (in Ontario, but still) because my wife and I have fallen in love with the life that rural MB can offer. my gripe is solely with Winnipeg lol

  15. I could write a thesis on Edmonton vs Winnipeg. I love Edmonton.... Because it is so much like Winnipeg. It's Winnipeg if Winnipeg had oil money. I ******* LOVE Winnipeg and think it's the most underrated city in Canada. The second my life changes to the point where my wife and I are able to leave AB, I'm on my way...

  21. It’s evident the speed of Kane and McDavid is too much for Calgary’s defence. They have a slow physical defence core and they’re getting abused by Edmonton’s speed.

  29. well...I lived in Winnipeg....T.O...San Fran....and Columbia MO.....and a coupe othe random points in between...could have continued there, or took up opportunity there, and well...where am I since 2003?....there a reason.....and every city has it's dumpy area, or negative attributes....But other than sheer size...I've found Winnipeg to have just as much or more than most in terms of things going on...and culture and what accompanies it....Lawler....I appreciate what he did here, but something was a bit off with him in some ways...and the fact he seems to take his subtle shots about certain things, and has really given no appreciation toward team/city or acknowledged "team" more than "him" is telling...truth be told...he won't be missed and we prob be a better over all group without him Adams is the one that will be missed and is leaving a void...and I hated to see him leave, but we gonna be just fine

  30. The only thing I want in life is to be able to drop my boat in the water every night after supper in the summer. To be within an hour of the greatest walleye fishing on earth 12 months of the year. To be around Jets fans and Bombers fans all the time. To be able to drive into the Canadian Shield any time I want. Some of the best breweries and taprooms in western Canada. (okay AB is pretty good for that too). Sorry for getting on a tangent, but I am insanely passionate about Manitoba (Winnipeg as a byproduct, even though I'm rural MB to the core) and anytime I see/hear people shitting on the province, I get really riled up. My wife, who is born and raised in Calgary, her whole family is from Manitoba. Mom born and raised in Brandon, dad a farmer from Sandy Lake. Her mom is in a care home with MS and she's the only child so we're the caregivers. We sincerely hope she lives forever, obviously, but being realistic, we regularly plan for our future once we're no longer caregivers. And that future is Manitoba.... Eventually.

  31. It’s funny I met a couple yesterday from Vancouver that absolutely love Winnipeg, the food, the culture, the architecture. I work with a marketing agency and we went out for drinks and dinner with some clients that are from Alberta and Toronto respectively.. they both loved Winnipeg too. They like how friendly Manitobans are, the cool restaurants, how attractive the women are lol! Anyways long story short there’s pros and cons to every city but Winnipeg does have a charm to it. Everything they say is absolutely 100 percent correct.

  32. I grew up in Winnipeg, spent my first 21 years there. Lived in Bc, ON and now Alberta. Winnipeg has more charm than anyplace I have ever lived. More mom n pop shops which I love. But...it is a bit of a dump in comparison. Alberta has given me and my family a very comfortable life. (Earned) Winnipeg will always be home but I ain't ever moving back. With that being said...Gdam I miss Gondola pizza, new york burgers, Jonny G's, Sonia's drive in, the Whiteshell, Zacks on Jefferson, the Pemby, buying tiger shrimp for Red River cats, Sals, BDI, sitting in the endzone of the old stadium watching games with my Dad, and the smokies after the game from the street vendor outside Toys R Us, Sunday cruise down Portage. Kelly's corner store in Weston, running from the owners when they saw us stealing lollipops, spending the whole day with our GT Snowracers on Garbage Hill...There really is no place like the Peg in Canada, warts and all...it truly is a special place...but yeah, ain't moving back.

  34. Re: O line.... need to give a lot of credit to the O line coach, Marty Costello. "Marty Costello enters his seventh year with the Blue Bombers in 2022, and fifth as the club’s offensive line coach. Costello has earned the utmost respect for the work he has done with the Blue Bombers offensive line, which remains the most-consistent and dominant unit in the Canadian Football League. The 2021 season was particularly rewarding for Costello and his charges as they played a critical role in the 2021 Grey Cup championship. The offensive line surrendered the fewest quarterback sacks in the league as part of an offence which also finished first in scoring and second in yards rushing. Prior to 2021, the offensive line also had a lot to boast about, as running back Andrew Harris has captured three consecutive CFL rushing titles, while the offence finished first in scoring in 2018 and second in 2017. Heading into the 2019 season, Winnipeg’s O-line lost two starters in the offseason with centre Matthias Goossen retiring to work with the Delta Police Department and Sukh Chungh leaving in free agency. As well, the club was without Neufeld for the first half of the season due to injury. Yet, Costello’s crew continued to provide holes for Harris while protecting three different starting quarterbacks in Matt Nichols, Chris Streveler and Zach Collaros. Winnipeg’s 2,663 yards rushing was the most by the club since 1965, when the team rushed for 3,005 yards in a 16-game season." lots more https://www.bluebombers.com/football-operations/marty-costello/

  35. A million times this. He didn't really come to fruition but Cody speller too. Also Travis bond. The way the mafia toiled away taking the OL from bad, to good, to great, and then from 3 imp to 2 imp, and built a sustained level of depth. That's the back bone of this Dynasty. A lot of other great teams have fallen to ruin with far less loss on the OL. Then they've also done the exact same thing in the defensive backfield. From bad, to anchored by guys like Mo and Randle to replacing 2 vets with 2 rookies last year and still having the best performing secondary of the era. And in general with the draft the mafia have done a tremendous job of weighing the risk of guys with NFL interest or who are returning to school with the probability that they end up back here. We've taken a LOT of future picks, but lost out on very little. I can't think of one dead pick that never came up actually. Guys like rene, borsa, dobson, Legs, Kongbo, and Gray either go back to college or have NFL interest but the bombers seem to estimate that risk and win the gamble nearly every time. But while also taking those up side future guys they manage to refill the depth with guys like the Hallets, exume, eli, corney, couture, loffler, gauthier, cadwaller and more. And yet still have upside assets left in guys like kramdi and Orange. The cfl draft is still as much a crap shoot as ever and you get Faiths, griffiths, etc, but despite frequently having the fewest and latest picks in the draft the Mafia continue to crank out tremendous draft classes. And we see off cuts like simonise, petey etc filling out spots around the league.

  36. It's been a tough couple of years ending in a long, cold and snowy winter and delayed spring. I cannot express how much I have been looking forward to the CFL season as a significant step towards normalcy. CFL teams are not awash with money and from my admittedly quick perusal of the agreement, it seemed to be fair. Neither side was wildly happy about it, which usually means it was a good compromise.

  38. I suggest that the whole Canadian housing market is overheated and due for a significant correction within the next year or so. That is gonna hurt a lot of people who scraped together the minimum down payment and bought homes they could barely afford on two incomes.

  40. Was at TC today being a fan. So mostly watching the receivers lol. Opinions and observations likely mean diddly squat. Janarion Grant is looking like he wants to play more offense. Looked great IMO. Have yet to see Saunders use his speed but he's got good movies. McKnight looks better at the present time. Looks like they're trying to get Whop (drop) Filyor (sp?) involved. He seems very dynamic running the jet sweep. Got open a lot but (gulp) having trouble catching the ball. Demski looks so polished out there. Hard to cover. Bailey is a beast. Not a burner obviously but he's going to make the job hard for DBs due to his size and motor. Looking more and more like Nik Lewis. Woli didn't have a great day IMO. Dalton Schoen looks to be about the same prototype but is faster. Used his size and speed to back DBs off. Looked good. Lucky Jackson is also a sizeable fast receiver. McUlvene (sp) looks like one of those guys that quietly makes catches. Ellingson, Agudosi and B Jackson not practicing.

  41. A few predictions for TC / Pre season. Mourtada wins the starting kicking job and hackett the punting job. Legs hits the PR. We start to see guys like Richmond start to raise eye brows as back up imp ol. Prukop becomes the pre season mop and wins heir apparent title. Dru brown in the first pass of cuts. Augustine takes the starting job from Brady, but we still run a platoon. Augustine took a huge step forward prior to last year and can really hit the home run out of the back field. He's almost turning 29 soon and peaking physically. Brady will turn 25 this year and augustine has very little wear and tear on his body. I still have brady as slightly better, and better suited to being a no1 rb, but Augustine as the now guy makes the most sense. And I can see him coming into camp with an all time high level of motivation. The starting job is finally in his grasp. WR is the battle of camp. Grant takes some ones starting job and we platoon returners for a while with him. Namely Ford. Muckelvene is this years Mcknight/sheed Coaches favorite, and maybe an overachiever at wr as a rook. Lots of WR bodies stick around on the PR. Simmons, schoen, whop, and blake jackson make for a tough decision. A wr with cfl games played gets cut. (Feels like forever since we did that in TC. The back up DL continue to look great but get stuck behind the starters. Mack and Moala especially.

  42. What's crazy is how this teams management and the way they manage roster..and prep for future is top notch...we've developed..replace and retooled through as goosen and chungh loss....Desjarlais..and Eli and just reload and don't miss a beat...crazy...other teams if they aren't envious are just oblivious then on how to manage a roster

  44. It is getting weird/ scary. I was fuelling up a slip tank at a cardlock yesterday. A guy about my age that I didn't know pulled in to fuel his pickup and came over to talk which is normal in a small town. Dude : Getting rready to go to the field Me: If it ever dries up Dude: Boy I wonder what that will cost you when you get the bill ? Me : I don't know but it won't be cheap. And this is where the conversation went right off the wall. Dude : Well, I hate to say it ( looking around ) but someone should shoot that Trudeau Me : ( after a few shocked seconds ) You mean because of the carbon tax , because that's got nothing to do with why the fuel price rocketing up. It's just whats going on in the Ukraine and that being used as an excuse to charge more money here. Dude: Well Trudeau is sending them fuel ! ( Edit : He also said they are trying to make us drive electric cars like it was some horrible thing) At that point I gave him a whatever and got busy strapping my tank down. But I find it unnerving that a random stranger would assume it was OK to say that to me about ANY leader. The world is collectively going off its nut.

Source unknown: I was thinking of the "free exchange of ideas" last night. You know, it's not like a market, it's like a potluck. Everyone brings their own ideas and you sample others and some are familiar with a twist, some are interesting but not to your taste, some are bad, some are lifechanging. You can get into a discussion about recipes or technique, or what have you as people talk about the food. If someone brings mashed potatoes, you can debate the appropriateness for a potluck: is it too bland? Will it get cold on the table? Do potatoes make up too much of our diet? But if someone puts a steaming platter of dog **** on the table, we're not going to debate it. And when we tell them to take it off the table, it's not because we are afraid of eating their dog **** or we think that it's going to revolutionize lunch and we don't want that to happen. We tell them to get it off the table because there is no debate to be had. It's dog ****. It's not an open question, it's not a matter of palettes or picky eaters. That's why we don't engage with neo-nazis and white supremacists, and it's why we don't (or shouldn't) let them come to the potluck
