  1. It infuriates me to no end when he signs the top OLB in the league... likely at below market value!... get rid of this clown

  3. My impression of Allen as a man is that he isn't the type to start at the bottom rung. Or the second from bottom. He's Damon Allen. You should feel stupid for suggesting it.

  4. He was Gumby..... that's about it. I'm not saying he was a bad player, I'm just saying there's a reason he wasn't a first ballot Hall Of Fame player..... he wasn't THAT highly regarded.

  7. So much this. If he would have retired in his mid to late 30's, he would have been just another QB that played in the CFL.

Exact same scenario except I believe Calgary the night before instead of Vancouver. Was the night we won the Western Final and the Kracken wore those hideous “ heritage” jerseys.

  11. He really wasn’t. He was actually fairly disregarded most of his career. AC I get the willingness to see what he has as an OC- but being a great player doesn’t mean you’re meant to coach.

  12. I don’t recall Allen being talked about as some sort of cerebral offensive mastermind when he played. His biggest strengths seemed to be athleticism and longevity. I don’t see anything about him that would scream jumping to an OC spot in professional football with no experience.

Does AG Garland have the stones to charge Trump, I'm not so sure, I also think that politically Trump is finished sure he will pretend that he is going to be President again but his the chances of him getting the Republican nomination is slim and none. Only the crazies are cuckoo for Trump the rest of the GOP knows he is damaged goods and a loser. Maybe he is dumb enough to run as an independent which will guarantee the Democrats four more years in the WH.

Yeah only one party is out there trying to over turn elections... Don't give me the both sides ****. It's just creating a false equivalency and trying to downplay the utter crap that the republicans are trying to get away with. Are you also suggesting that Trump didn't break any laws? Because anyone else with as many classified documents in their private property as Trump had would have been locked away instantly never mind even getting a trial... and that's just the most blatant thing he's done.

Ted Cruz's wife has been there. Trump called her ugly and also said that Cruz Sr. probably collaborated on the JFK assassination. And yet on 1/6 Ted Cruz did his best trumpian footsoldiering in the Senate, trying to coup the creep into another term. I don't like seeing the world as alphas and betas but damn that was some accomplished beta work there.

You do understand that you can 100% be a giant piece of ****, be a morally corrupt individual and not break any laws right? That country being in the position it is now does not land on the feet of one party. Suggesting it does, is ignorant at best.

Might have had a chance in the old Gimli riding but Gimli-Interlake would take a miracle for the NDP to win. Harry Enns old riding, and it doesn't get any more entrenched PC than that, along with Ashern, Eriksdale, Arborg, and Interlake Menno country. If every single voter in Gimli voted NDP it might be less of a blow out, but that ain't going to happen as the town of Gimli historically has been pretty 50/50. The old Gimli riding had a large stretch of NDP country that has now been absorbed into Selkirk. The old Interlake riding was NDP dominated when the reserves were part of the riding. Neither is the case anymore. Interlake farm country and the Lake Manitoba communities are PC....strong PC....and that is the majority of that constituency now. Tom Nevakshonoff is one of my best friends, he told me that when the new election maps came out he knew retaining his seat was next to impossible.

Ok... my package has made some progress, so whichever one of you it was that was holding it up in Winnipeg is off the hook. But for some godforsaken reason it is now scanned in to Niagara On The Lake? It's only a 2 hour drive from there to my shop, assuming decent traffic (heh), so hopefully I get them before Christmas Eve...

In December we got only one bit of space to relax - the Xmas Break that every one else does. I'd be happy with 3rd place at the end of it especially with the injuries. On the flip side I'm not sure anyone has a longer(11 days) All-Star Break then us and and everyone injured should be back after at that time.

  27. He has 6 years of CFL coaching now (Montreal & Toronto) & 2 years of Usports. In the CFL he's been a receivers coach, a QB coach and an OC. His one year as OC might have been in a name only - he had Jacques Chapdelaine there as an "advisor" while he learned the role. When Popp resigned, Chapdelaine took over as HC and also took over playing calling from AC. He was demoted back to QB coach the next season.

  28. I think Buck is a great counter point to your suggestion. Buck spent two years as RB coach before getting to move up to QB coach for an additional four years before getting his shot at OC. I'm pretty sure that if Allen was willing to start at the bottom, he would have had his shot. At this point in his life, maybe that isn't in the cards.
    1 point
  29. No, Allen's never coached in the CFL but he did spend one year in the NFL in 2021 under the program they have for coaches of colour to have an opportunity to coach in that league. The same program Hank Burris was a part of allowing him to coach with the Bears in 2021. He's now with the Carolina Panthers but no longer a part of that program.

  34. As far as those who can't teach... I had a Grade 7 teacher named Ed Golin at Churchill High. He left teaching to found a retail outdoor store called Go-Line Sports on St. Anne's Road in his 40's. It did very well for a long time but I don't think it's around anymore. Old Ed became a millionaire. He's since passed away.

I am mildly surprised to discover that a not-inconsiderable amount of Christmas gifts I ordered (ok... a few of them are for me), have been stranded in Winnipeg. i) I had no idea that this company, which I am a big fan of and have spent many tens of thousands of dollars with, ships its merchandise out of Manitoba. ii) I can only presume that they are holding it up and jeopardizing my Christmas plans because they know I'm an Argo supporter and are still sore at me after last month.
