Watching AG MG at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing still supports the thought that he is currently the most dangerous man in the US. He continually holds on to thinking long standing beliefs and values, traditional checks and balances are running the show in ensuring accountability but they aren't running the show. Not since 2016 and one could probably argue a lot further back than this. Here again is his bullshit empty words: “Every day, the 115,000 employees of the Justice Department work tirelessly to fulfill our mission: to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights,” Garland said, lauding efforts to protect “our country’s democratic institutions.” He's weak and only concerned for his own personal legacy much like Mueller. It's more insulting, maddening, frustrating and ironic to watch him react to people like Hawley, Cruz, Kennedy, Lee (insert certain democrats here as well) than it is in watching these hooligans themselves. The irony is in one breath he spews his empty words of protecting the country's democratic institutions than in another breath does nothing of impact to the very people like Hawley, Cruz, Kennedy, Lee who are assisting in causing all this damage. All of this out in plain sight right in front of our very own eyes.2 points -

o WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump can be sued by injured Capitol Police officers and Democratic lawmakers over the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, the Justice Department said Thursday in a federal court case testing Trump’s legal vulnerability and the limits of executive power. The department wrote that although a president enjoys broad legal latitude to communicate to the public on matters of concern, “no part of a President’s official responsibilities includes the incitement of imminent private violence. By definition, such conduct plainly falls outside the President’s constitutional and statutory duties.” The brief was filed by lawyers of the Justice Department’s Civil Division and has no bearing on a separate criminal investigation by a department special counsel into whether Trump can be criminally charged over efforts to undo Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election ahead of the Capitol riot. In fact, the lawyers note that they are not taking a position with respect to potential criminal liability for Trump or anyone else. The Justice Department wrote that it also takes no view on a lower court judge’s conclusion that those who sued Trump have “plausibly” alleged that his speech caused the riot. Nevertheless, the department said that an appeals court should reject Trump’s claim that he’s immune from the lawsuits.2 points

Not nearly as applicable on the grid iron. Especially in the trenches. Don’t see many under sized dominant linemen. The hot take on the defense seems like an attempt at stirring the pot. The type of comment that won’t be remember if we are good but that can be flaunted if our d isn’t. I’m not worried about the secondary. We got more starters than spots. We need a nose / pass rushing dt. Hansen will go a long way to give us the rotation at de again. We do need depth in that role though. last year our lb crop in camp was the most underwhelming we’ve seen in the mafia era. If biggie had gone down instead of kyrie we’d a been totally screwed. As it is he’s dropping off in play. We can’t bank on kyrie and biggie alone. We need a strong batch of lbers to push and be ready as the next man up. we have done a phenomenal job of developing and finding dl. We need one rotational depth pass rusher, a rotational depth lber who can step in and perform at a high level, and an impact dt. De and lber is extremely talent rich in football. I’m not worried.2 points

I tend to lean toward the "good players don't want to come to Winnipeg" thinking, and Chevy isn't going to deal quality assets for players without term or ones who refuse to sign contract extensions. Also good players won't waive NTCs to come to Winnipeg. As for the comparison to the Bombers, 6 months during Manitoba summer is WAY different than being here for a Manitoba winter. Not comparable. I don't know what more Chevy can do, honestly.... so much of the Jets "middling" is just the result of the market. It's how it's going to be, and then hopefully every decade or so, you get a run like they had in 2018 when they legitimately could have won it all, and just ran into a healthier, red hot VGK.2 points -

This was also one of the contracts that triggered the NHL to put in the 8 year max contract rule, as this was a 14 year contract, front loaded so that he only gets paid $1M a year with a $7.8M cap hit in each of the final 3 years. The contract was designed to be bought out in those years or traded to a team like Phoenix.2 points -

Aaron Sterling School: South Carolina Position: DL 6-2, 250lb (188cm, 113kg) “It makes me more versatile,” Sterling said. “I can rush from the edge or rush from the inside. It helps me look better on film. Playing defensive tackle in high school, it helped me stay low and leverage. I learned to take on some double teams and that kind of helped me. I feel good about it.” Sterling, who had his 2018 season cut short due to a meniscus injury, had 15 tackles, which included three for a loss, over eight games as a sophomore. He made his first career start last season, which came against this week’s opponent, his home state Georgia Bulldogs. This year, Sterling is already ahead of his tackles for loss total from a year ago and one behind in total tackles, currently sitting with 14. He also has one pass breakup and three hits on the quarterback to his credit. He has forced and recovered a fumble this year as well. “He’s willing to do a lot of the unselfish things,” Muschamp said. “Aaron, to me, is an old throwback player. He’s that type of guy in the way he practices, the way he goes about his business. He’s been a guy who goes out there and handles his business every single day. I appreciate his work ethic, mentality and his attitude.”2 points -

Tait works for the Bombers. He can't be critical of the team by calling them out or he's fired. He's not a columnist. Columnists are paid to have an opinion & for giving it. Having said that, I like Ed Tait. I'd rather he be doing that than being silenced by the Postmedia purge of the newspaper industry in this country. So many talented writers & reporters silenced. Postmedia are ******* bastards.2 points -
that's an EXTREMELY cynical viewpoint, IMO. I'll admit that I'm biased.... Ed's writing (and he knows this) is a big part of why I got into media. I initially wanted to be a sports writer because of Ed and, to a degree, Gary Lawless. I started as an undergrad at BU with hopes of transferring for post-grad Journalism school at U of R, but ended up into what was then known as "electronic media" at ACC and, along with lots of other stuff, ended up in sports broadcasting rather than sports writing, per se. So I'm definitely a known biased-fan of Ed's work going back 30 years now, but still..... I think calling his BB.com pieces "advertorials" is extremely cynical if not wholly inaccurate.2 points

For some, good ideas for the benefit of the general masses are not their incentive nor part of their rewards system. So it makes sense because they don't want them. Some are not there to serve the general public, they are there to fulfil their own personal circle agendas by steering, distracting, deluding the knuckle dragging me me me crowd away from good ideas. It's their business model.2 points -

Ted Cruz Is Humiliating Himself At Merrick Garland Hearing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is embarrassing himself at a hearing featuring Merrick Garland by spinning conspiracy theories and getting obvious facts wrong. Ted Cruz spent a lot of time screaming at Garland for not throwing people who protested against conservative Supreme Court justices in jail: Cruz claimed that Garland isn’t enforcing the law when people on the left ‘threaten’ conservative Supreme Court justices. Garland told Cruz that he took the unprecedented step of sending US Marshalls to the homes of all Supreme Court justices to provide personal protection. This fact made Cruz hysterical. The Texas senator gave a performance that will land him on Fox News primetime tonight, but Cruz wanted to seal the deal, so his next round of questions took it to the next level. Cruz launched into his conspiracy theory that the DOJ will indict Hunter Biden as a cover for their real motivation, which is to indict Donald Trump. Sen. Cruz then tried to claim that the picture of classified documents recovered at Mar-a-Lago was a leak. Attorney General Garland corrected him and told him the picture was evidence from a submitted court filing.1 point -

Curling
JCon reacted to SpeedFlex27 for a topic
I started out at the Fort Rouge in 1971 when I was in Grade 10 at Churchill High. We had our high school curling league. We sure had a lot of kids who wanted to curl. Some went on to be damned fine curlers in the Men's league & competed for the provincials to go to the Brier. I played Men's League for many years at Fort Rouge. I don't curl anymore but I still consider it my curling home. It's always had the best ice in the city & I can tell you it sure had the best pizza. Yes!! I got into curling because of Don Duguid & his total dominance of not only Canadian curling but Manitoba as well. that 2 year run he put together from 1970 & 71 was amazing. He skipped the best rink on the planet at that time during those 2 years. Rod Hunter wasthe best third in the world. He wasn't nicknamed The Arrow for nothing. And his front end could sweep with those corn & artificial brooms all day long. Don had a 15 minute curling segment called "Duguid's House after late sports on the CBC on Sundays. He'd go over such things a grip, stategy, fundamentals & usually show how to read ice & throw a few shots. I watched that show every Sunday night before going to bed as I had school the next day. When I was curling in our little CHS league, the men would start coming in at about 6:45 pm as we were finishing up from our 4:30 pm ice time. Their draw was at 7 pm. So, this is 1972 in October. Orest Meleschuk from Fort Rouge was the world champ. He had beaten Bob LaBonte from North Dakota to win the Air Canada Silver Broom. If you guys know about the burnt rock... Anyway, I come off the ice & there he is. As big as life. Orest meleschuk & his entire rink standing there right in front of me. At first, I just ignored him as I sat down to take off my curling shoes but my heart was pounding & my stomach turning over. I had to talk to him. I jst had to. Although I was scared & just 16 years old, I worked up the courage to do do so. I went up to them, tapped Meleschuk on the shoulder, opened my mouth & something like "Uhh, ahhhh.... Errr... Mr Meleschuk, all you guys are great!!!" I remember how dry my mouth was & how nervous I was. He said, "Thanks kid" & then turned & ignored me as he kept talking to his teammates. I was totally crushed. I had made a fool of myself. I read later that Meleschuk was a moody kinda guy & wasn't the most friendly person to chat with so I don't feel bad. As I got older, I also know I would have handled things a lot differently than I did when I was an awkward, shy teenager. It was still good though to have a brush with greatness. In the lounge upstairs, the 1972 Air Canada Silver Broom is encased in a glass display. It's awesome to look at still.1 point -
@DTonOB You praised Sayles and the TiCats picking him up in FA. I would say that most at MBB were disappointed with his performance last year and don't feel as though we'll miss him. Why do you think the TiCats paid that much for him? And, what did you see that made you think he's a good pickup for the TiCats (or a loss for the Bombers)?1 point
