  1. Hot take here but I think it’s likely long-term the Als move West to a somewhat more accessible area of Downtown Montreal to a shared stadium with a Montreal/Concordia CIS teams. Quebec City is also an option. The current situation can’t go on much longer on a money-in, money-out cash flow basis with the lack of available revenue at McGill. They’ve got the right owner now who can align government with his empire to get things done…has a strong history of doing that.

  2. CFL reaches agreement on sale of Montreal Alouettes: report By 3Down Staff -March 9, 2023 The Montreal Alouettes have finally been sold, according to a new report from Richard Dufour of LaPresse. The deal is expected to be announced during a press conference at Olympic Stadium on Friday morning. CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie will be in attendance. The CFL took over interim control of the Alouettes franchise last month in the hopes of finding a new owner. The team’s future was placed in jeopardy after the estate of the late Sid Spiegel elected to stop funding operations. The Alouettes were originally purchased by S and S Sportsco, a corporate entity owned by Spiegel and his son-in-law Gary Stern, in January 2020. However, Spiegel passed away in July of 2021 having never seen his team play, leaving his 75 percent stake in the franchise under the control of two anonymous lawyers. The team had previously endured a year-long period of league ownership after long-time owner Robert Wetenhall surrender the franchise in May of 2019. The league recently entered into exclusive negotiations with Quebecor Inc. about the sale of the team. The Montreal-based media and telecommunications company operates assets such as Videotron, Groupe TVA, Le Journal de Montreal and Le Journal de Quebec. Their sports and entertainment division currently owns and operates the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The company is controlled by president and CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau, a prominent businessman and former politician who briefly served as the leader of the separatist Parti Québécois. The 61-year-old Montreal native has an estimated net worth of $1.9 billion USD. Either Quebecor or Peladeau himself is expected to be announced as the team’s new owner, with clarity around the structure of ownership coming on Friday morning. Interim team president Mario Cecchini, who helped oversee the search for new owners alongside the league’s investment banking partner Park Lane, was announced as the new commissioner of the QMJHL on Tuesday and will not be returning to the franchise.

“Defense attorneys have dismissed the “tools” theory as a novel, flawed concept with no legal foundation. They argue that the Justice Department is trying to unfairly hold their clients responsible for the violent actions of others in the crowd of Trump supporters. Tarrio, for example, wasn’t even in Washington on Jan. 6.” Charles Manson wasn’t present when his “family” murdered people. Didn’t stop his conviction. Sounds like a good legal foundation to me.

@blue_gold_84 strange, clumsy, crude stuff by China. Read today that Turkey, which has been allowing transit of goods through to Russia, has now stopped allowing it. after this: ISTANBUL, Feb 4 (Reuters) - The United States warned Turkey in recent days about the export to Russia of chemicals, microchips and other products that can be used in Moscow's war effort in Ukraine, and it could move to punish Turkish companies or banks contravening sanctions. Brian Nelson, the U.S. Treasury Department's top sanctions official, visited Turkish government and private sector officials on Thursday and Friday to urge more cooperation in disrupting the flow of such goods.

  20. I'd like to see TSN's hold on the CFL Englsh broadcast rights challenged as well, having a monopoly may have made sense in the 1990's but not today. No, I'm saying he could if he wanted to. Even as a member of the Centre of The Universe, Bluto you are loved. That's an extremely hard take.

One other one had to have a third hip replacement because the first one squeaked (YES!) and the second one bled metals into her bloodstream. And today the Minster of Health announced additional options for out of province procedures- it almost like there's an election looming.

Jaysus! Silicon Valley Bank closed in second-biggest bank failure in U.S. history The bank, which caters to tech startups, was taken over by the government after a run on deposits Thursday, sparking concerns about broader economic fallout By Gerrit De Vynck and Rachel Lerman Updated March 10, 2023 at 1:53 p.m. EST|Published March 9, 2023 at 11:52 p.m. EST The second-largest bank failure in U.S. history rocked the tech industry and sent ripples of anxiety throughout the financial system Friday as Silicon Valley Bank went from being a key part of the tech ecosystem to collapsing in a matter of hours. The bank, which largely serves startups and venture capitalists, was shut down by regulators and taken over by the federal government after depositors scrambled to withdraw their money following a surprise filing from the firm on Wednesday night that it had sold $21 billion in assets and was selling more of its own stock to shore up its balance sheet. The stock prices of other banks fell too, and Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen said she was monitoring the situation. Start-up founders and venture capitalists fretted that money needed to pay employees could be lost or frozen by the bank’s collapse. Silicon Valley Bank’s rapid failure has shocked the tech industry, prompting fears that the economic situation for the sector is worse than previously thought. The collapse is also strengthening calls from Wall Street analysts and investors that the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes are too aggressive and risk causing serious damage to the economy. At the end of December, Silicon Valley Bank held around $209 billion in total assets, making it the second-largest failure of a federally-insured bank in U.S. history, after Washington Mutual, which collapsed during the financial crisis in 2008. A spokesperson for the bank did not return a request for comment. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which took over the bank, said depositors would be able to withdraw the $250,000 of government-insured funds on Monday. But because the bank served tech businesses, many of them had much higher amounts of money stored with the bank. On Friday, questions ricocheted around Silicon Valley about whether companies would be able to get their money back, and what to do if they couldn’t. The bank’s failure also leaves a gaping hole in for the tech industry, which had relied on the bank for its expertise in startups and willingness to provide services to fast-growing, risky startups. “No bank understand startups and tech the way they do,” said Antoine Nivard, co-founder and general partner at Blank Ventures. “They have a 40-year reputation earned the hard way built on the most extensive network of insider relationships with Silicon Valley’s most important players.” The FDIC said it created a new bank to manage the firm’s operations, starting on Monday — a rare occurrence in a bank failure and typically means that the process was rushed. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/03/09/silicon-valley-bank-shares/

GS, LB, MTG, MG, JJ, PG etc etc etc. All the above lunatics (just examples, not the full list) currently represent who a large portion of Americans (and some Canadians for that matter) are as people. But we're the problem because calling them out doesn't account for everyone is bad (yea but whatabout that person who is no where near as bad as the original lunatic being called out) or we're the problem because we're just a WOKE cancel culture of diverse people who live in our echo chambers being divisive by wanting insane words and actions to come along with actual consequences.
