We mock fajardo because he read too many of his preas clippings and thought he was actually good. We don't mock Evans because he struggled and admitted it was a mental thing and sought help. Arrogance vs. Humility.7 points

My best guess is he abstained to vote because he has something to hide and an inquiry could potentially expose him. He just chooses to stir up his braindead supporters to get them frothing at the mouth over fabricated narratives and unsubstantiated conjecture, which is clearly all he has as leader of the opposition. He offers nothing of substance because he has none himself. He's a self-absorbed career politician who has done nothing to make this country a better place.5 points -

Cons have to know they are getting bounced. Writing was on the wall for Pallister last year, which is why he bailed and left Stefanson to be the Kim Campbell scapegoat. Even if she had no gaffes (and boy she sure has) the NDP were taking over come the fall. So I think the glut of public spending is two-fold. Yes, it can be a last ditch attempt to buy votes, but it also sets up the incoming government. More spending equals more deficit down the road, and so as the new opposition they can scream “wasteful spending and fiscal irresponsibility” which is the stereotype of NDP governments, and most voters will forget where the spending started. These chess moves now are about setting up the future re-claiming of power.4 points -

You're advocating to remove/reduce the ratio to make it more popular when that's already been done over the years. As Booch pointed out, the quality of the game has improved every time the ratio has been reduced and yet attendance/popularity is still down in certain markets. The league certainly has it's issues but I don't think the ratio is the problem or solution.3 points

i would 100 percent stop following the league in that case.... have to agree...CFL is more about the rules and field and sure it gives a chance for Canadian kids to play...and they still will...but the ratio to me isnt a "gotta have" and every time it got reduced...or gets reduced, it makes the quality of the game that much better....those are facts....Sure the Demski...Rourke...Harris...Sinopoli...Desjarlais...the list can go on are good/great players, but you could find multiples of them every yr down south...likely better....and not have to put 2..3..4...yrs into them to become what they are... CFL is unique and Canadian based on the game itself...not who is playing...even tho you get that faction of people claiming otherwise... anyone in my orbit agrees...and an all canadian player cfl would be putrid.....and hard to stomach...and pay the ticket price you pay now.....epic failure and end to league if that ever occured3 points

certainly would....as it wouldnt be an all american...it would be a league with best players playing...and prob have a caveat that each team needed x amount of canadians on it...but not neccessarily as starters...the best Canadians would still play...or get the chance to play pro....it's just the slugs...and there are many ...that would lose jobs, and are only on a roster due to the ratiowhich brings down the quality of the game...and in eyes of many really good American players who balked at coming up here, as basically if they didnt beat out an established vet....would be cut for an inferior player...so why even waste the time....and believe me...it happens way too many times...this league missed out on superstar after superstar...or shall I say would have became one...just because of the ratio....U could have had a game breaking receiver say for example...who could help you out in a big way...but we get the Petermans and the Matt Dubucs of the world who basically take up a spot...take minimal reps if any...most times don't even become the starter when a starter goes down....and if they do....they are well below average for a pro...Just cause they Canadian...slice and dice it any way you want....but the ratio allows for a subpar product...yet we are forced to pay premium price to watch it....does that make sense to the intelligent person?...I think not2 points -

I agree. I just wish there was some way of insuring that a certain number of starting positions on each team had to be citizens of the country in which the games are played in. That way citizens would have some opportunity but there could still be people from other countries able to compete too. Oh well, a system like that would probably be way too complicated to be practical.2 points -

Yup F Trudeau can only go so far.2 points -
Exactly. Fajardo threw anyone, and everyone, under the bus for his poor play VERY publically, Evans put the blame squarely on himself, and discussed how he needed to get better mentally as he was struggling with that. Big difference. At no point and time did I ever hear Fajardo speak with humility, or come out and state the obvious that he was struggling with the emotions and mental health aspects of the game. Quite the opposite really....hence the ridicule. One guy knows what the problem is and is trying to fix it, the other guy thinks the problem is everyone else. Makes it pretty easy to determine the difference in attitude towards them.2 points
-
The answer to this question should be be to also not mock Fajardo for any mental health struggles that he may choose to talk about, not to use it as an excuse to also mock Evans. You can talk about both of their play on the field, CF has a tendency to blame the media and sometimes, fans and teammates, which I think is fair game; but he has also made comments about mental health struggles which can be heard without being torn into. These guys are in the public realm and put themselves on a stage to be seen and discussed. That is part of the job. But I think it's reasonable to talk about the players and not the human being who may be struggling. That's their business.2 points

https://www.cfl.ca/2023/03/21/oleary-combine-format-opens-evaluation-window/?tf_u[mailId]=aff37ae8e7&tf_u[team]=CFL When National and Global prospects make their way to Edmonton this week for the CFL Combine presented by New Era, they’ll head into a unique evaluation environment. Wednesday and Thursday will still consist of traditional combine elements like measurements, testing, the bench press and the 40-yard dash. Teams will still have time during the week to interview prospects to help inform their draft decisions. The Combine will take on a new look from Friday through Sunday, where the prospects will take part in practice sessions that involve individual drills, one-on-ones and new elements like the pass skeleton and inside run sessions. CFL coaches will lead positional groups and install offences and defences. The change takes the Combine in a new direction, one that Ryan Janzen, the CFL’s associate vice president of football operations, said stemmed from discussions with teams after last year’s Combine. “Where we ended up was let’s do live practices. Let’s end up having three days of practices where guys can go above and beyond their normal one-on-ones and individual period during Combine,” he said. “The thing was we were bringing (prospects) from Japan, from Europe, NCAA players in the States, from all over Canada. To give them the opportunity to truly showcase what they can do, we felt it was too quick to go in and out, do the drills and then they’re gone. Let’s keep these guys a little longer, put them through some more drills, see how they do and give the scouts more time to evaluate.” This follows a Kicking Showcase that the league held in San Diego in January — something that the teams had requested through those feedback sessions — and it was well received; something that got the new format rolling earlier in the year. The new format should also let the prospects show a more complete version of their football selves to the teams that are evaluating them. In every draft there are players that don’t run the fastest 40, or don’t put up a huge amount of reps on the bench press. Those that may have been lost in straight testing will have an extra three days to show how the practice, what their comprehension is on new schemes and how quickly they can adapt to working with new teammates and coaches. “It can really give the scouts a better opportunity to scout these guys. (The prospects are) already here, let’s have them stay a couple more days. Let’s bring in some CFL coaches to coach them up a bit,” Janzen said. “I think we’re all excited to see how it goes. I think based on feedback from the clubs, I think this will be really good. But again, we’ll get their feedback after after this and see what they thought of it and how they may may want to evolve it even more.” The new format has piqued the interest of a pair of CFL prospects. Southern Utah University defensive lineman Francis Bemiy and Western University running back Keon Edwards both said on a media call last week that they’re looking forward to seeing what the Combine offers them. “I’m really excited for the practice portion of it,” said Edwards, the top rusher in U SPORTS last season. “Be able to do inside run, actually showing scouts what I can do on the field. I know the Combine is also what they like to see from us, but from a football aspect I’m able to show the best of my ability there.” “That’s a different aspect,” Bemiy said. “They’ll do the testing aspect on one side and then the game aspect, so they really get to see how you play (and) what are your skill sets on the football field, instead of just doing the tests. (It’s) pretty cool just to go out there and show what you can do.” The new format should also be beneficial to the teams as they continue to evaluate the prospects ahead of the draft. Toronto Argonauts’ receivers coach and pass game coordinator Pete Costanza will be involved with the practice days of this year’s combine in Edmonton, working as the offensive coordinator and receivers’ coach. In addition to the film the Argos have on the prospects, he’ll get an up close look at the prospects on the offensive side of the ball through this coming week, which can only help as the team zeroes in on how to use its picks in the CFL Draft on May 2. “It does give you more knowledge and information about the guy, just to see how they learn, how they respond in a practice setting. And then how do they take it to the next practice period and apply it or not apply it,” Costanza said. “It’ll definitely give more information, especially for all the coaches that are hands on day-to-day for the three days of practice.” The changes made to this year’s Combine will be closely monitored and just like last year, the league will meet with teams in a couple of weeks’ time again to discuss what worked and what didn’t. As the league ventures into relatively unchartered waters in its pre-draft evaluation, it’s not opposed to letting the nature of the event evolve to the teams’ liking. “We’re excited about this,” Janzen said. “We felt (the previous setup for the Combine) it was too quick to go in and out, do the Combine, put them through a couple of drills and they’re gone. Let’s keep these guys a little bit longer, put them soon through some more drills and then really see how they do and obviously give the scouts more time to evaluate.” “You hear people in football say all the time, ‘Oh, that’s not what we do, we don’t do that.’ It doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea. I think we’re on to something,” Costanza said. “We just need to work our way through it here and have some flexibility this first go-round. Then when we’re done, we can reconvene and iron out the edges that need to be ironed out and make it better.”2 points

Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) falsely claimed that Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is hiding evidence that would clear Trump and called for the DA’s arrest. Greene tweeted: "it’s time to arrest Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg for prosecutorial misconduct after hiding hundreds of pages of exculpatory evidence! Bragg is on the verge of indicting an innocent former President and top Presidential candidate against the opposing ruling party. Bragg is breaking the law and trying to incite civil unrest with his Soros funded political war." The former party of law and order and the rule of law now wants to arrest prosecutors for doing their jobs. However, according to EarthSky, that slight chance is likely to vanish as astronomers learn more about the asteroid's trajectory. The space rock orbits the sun every 3.17 years."1 point -

All true, but it still gets you pretty far. Like the Presidency. Name the last Government that truly got voted in as opposed to one getting voted out. Now it’s F Trudeau, before it was Stop Harper, before that it was the scandal-ridden Martin/Chrétien regime, before that it was lame duck Campbell paying for the Corrupt Mulroney regime (now being repeated with Stefanson/Pallister in MB). Rage works because the typical voter would rather be angry and have someone to blame instead of researching actual policies. Politicians know this and play the game for power, giving people a villain to vote against rather than having policies that most will tune out anyway.1 point -

Ex-Trump ethics lawyer advised Hutchinson to mislead committee. Now he “could be prosecuted”: report A Trump-allied attorney who previously represented a key January 6 witness urged her to mislead the January 6 committee about details she recalled, according to CNN. The committee did not identify the witness or the person they claimed tried to influence the testimony, but CNN reported that Stefan Passantino, the top ethics attorney in the Trump White House who represented former aide Cassidy Hutchinson, was the lawyer. Passantino advised Hutchinson, an aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, to tell the committee that she did not recall details that she did, sources told CNN. The committee suggested that people connected to the former president had attempted to influence at least one witness' testimony, promising her jobs that never materialized and coaching her to make statements in an attempt to deceive the committee. Passantino and his law firm Elections LLC were funded by Trump's Save America political action committee. The PAC also paid for the lawyer's representation of Hutchinson, which Passantino did not mention to his client, sources told CNN. Over the summer, Hutchinson emerged as a key witness for the committee, providing bombshell testimony into Trump's knowledge of the potential for violence on Jan. 6, and his outbursts of anger. Before her public testimony, she dropped Passantino and got a new lawyer.1 point -
