  1. Corner the market, no competition, we too big to fail so we will be propped up when we aren’t hitting our profit margins but no worry we will be held ‘accountable’. Alrighty then, we screwed.

You can be informed by exercising critical thinking. You can tell if something is presented based on well researched facts or if it's biased click bait. Requires investment in people's education though to develop those skills. Which is the exact opposite of what many politicians (ie. Conservatives) want because a populace that just believes what they're told is easier to lie to.

So to be clear @SpeedFlex27, you want an investigation done by a Parliamentary Committee or an investigation done by an independent investigator who is appointed by Parliament who has no ties to any of the party leaders or the parties at all?

What are you on about? It's not bloody hard to see the difference between biased pieces and impartial reporting. It's all in the language that is used. Critical thinking is a skill that is sadly very under used. There is a reason that the usual suspects call educated people "woke" or other things. It's because no matter what degree you get you are taught how to think critically in order to get that degree. As a result the educated are less likely to support the lunatics and why the ones who see through the bullshit are so disdainful of the people who lap it up.

PP was asked in the house to define woke. He went onto claim its a bunch of things designed to divide Canadians further along racial, religious, vaccine status lines. One thats not a definition and more importantly how much time does one need to realize that the statement is false and ignorant and yet another reason not to vote for him?

  9. Based on what? He’s not a place kicker in the CFL. His range is about 35 yards off a tee. Big leg for punting though. Bauming must have missed the guy playing for U of C last year. Thought he usually covers the Bisons. The only challengers for placekicking are the Americans. Interesting how deep they are digging on kickers and punters this off-season. Makes you wonder if they don’t really think they have a shot to re-sign Liegghio or if they don’t want to pay him.

  14. Johnston is there to weigh the evidence to see if a federal public inquiry is needed or would actually shed any light... I honestly think that the amount of redacted and classified material that is going to come up (and REMAIN classified and redacted)in a public inquiry will just lead to a bigger **** show. "SEE TRUDEAU IS HIDING SOMETHING!!!!" No... that just remains classified and redacted because it is in the interest of national security.... *blink, blink* "SEEEEEE THEY ARE HIDING SOMETHING... BURN THEM, BURN THEM ALL!"

  16. A public inquiry would be a ******* **** show... tons of stuff is going to classified, secret, redacted and so forth... you know, for legit security concerns. Yet those people clamoring for the inquiry will just use it as more fuel for rage farming... To top it off... the same **** stains in suits will decry it all a waste of tax payers money and blame the Trudeau government for this excessive waste when the ordinary Canadians could have used that money for making their lives easier... That is exactly how its going to play out... none of the leaders crying for a public inquiry are interested in transparency for the masses- they know that there will LARGE swaths of information that will not be shown- they know this, because they are privy to that information. Fuel for rage farming.

What he means is well-educated and informed. Most informed and educated voters don't sit well with him and his antics so he needs to borrow a term from the US to refer to that segment of the population pejoratively so his followers have a negative term to identify and throw their hate at. Also, is there a clip of this somewhere? I'd love to hear his definition.

In order to function properly or optimally, democracy requires an engaged (and informed) populace. Apathetic voters who choose not to show up and cast a ballot result in the kind of election results we saw in Ontario last June. I worry for similar outcomes in other jurisdictions.

Voter apathy is the enemy of democracy. We've seen that play out at various levels here in Canada in recent years. How that affects our nation's political landscape in the near future remains to be seen but I think it's fair to say it's not a positive outlook.

I completely understand. For me, I appreciate what they communicate but it doesn't work for everyone. I am engaged, I follow it and I am educated in political science/studies. So, policy stuff interests me. However, most are not and relate to what they see on a daily basis. Inflation - that's important to everyone and it impacts people differently. They are not communicating this very well. There are lots of other examples, including the narrative on carbon pricing. Sure they won the legal battle but those opposed still control the narrative. He's a landlord too, don't forget.

I can't stand Trudeau's word salad - but I prefer it over Pollievre's hot air Bottom line though: in spite of all the criticisms of Trudeau, Harper, Martin, et. al. - Canada is still in a much better position than most of the G7 But I am not convinced that Pollievre is a leader who would keep things intact or improve them First off, I don't believe one word of what they're saying about the carbon tax. It's already a provincial tax in some jurisdictions - why would anyone remove it at the federal level? To balance the budget, I think he'd just do what was done in the past - reduce social transfers - which would then leave most provinces with deficits Just my 0.02 - no one has to agree with me You've got good knowledge of these things - who do you think would be his successor? Freeland?

At this point, I would rather see Trudeau stay in power And I say that as someone who has voted Conservative more often than not Pollievre needs to bring some real ideas forward - he needs to realize that Conservatives would not be able to govern with a minority - the way the Liberals can That's where the swing ridings are - it's all about who is polling higher in the swing ridings That's the Canadian reality

We also have access to more information than previous generations. I'm not saying Twitter is the be all end all but its really easy to use a social media platform like it to find out all sorts of things about politicians. For example, how many supported the convoy because they posted about supporting it along with pictures and videos. How many posted about vaccines killing kids, wef conspiracies or trash about teachers showing kindergarten kids porn. Doesn't take much to find things about and form opinions from there.

PP has been effective communicating to his base. I'm not sure if it resonates far outside but he's built up quite a catalogue of complaints. Complaints play well and get votes with dissatisfied voters. I'm not sure that the Libs are losing support, as much as they are losing voters. That is to say, the ability to motivate Libs to get out and vote, is waning.

  41. Singh has a bit of arrogance at times but he has no clout, IMO. Poilievre pretends to be an everyman but the ones he fools are useful idiots who foam at the mouth when he blows his dog whistles. I'd argue 99% of politicians are smug and out of touch. The difference here is the LPC has been in power for nearly a decade, so theirs is magnified with them being in the spotlight (and often weaponized by their opponents).

  44. the short answer in all of this is that the Trudeau Grits are far less dangerous than any other party right now. Things are still rocky, economically, around the world, and we need stability right now...not drastic measures. As has been mentioned, coming out of the pandemic, Canada is faring better than most/all of the G7 nations, and we need to just keep riding this out for awhile....IMO.
