Just got back from practice. Got there a little late, left a little early. Thought I'd write up some notes with the obvious disclaimer that I have no idea what I'm talking about. But people are hungry for Bomber stuff. So here goes. Evan Holm and Dalton Schoen are working their butts off out there. Nice to see. Holm both looks extremely athletic and technically sound. He made a play on the ball most times he lined up Brian Cole and DeJuan Cooper stand out as guys who have a physical presence but also move really well Brian Cole had an interception in skeleton Demski made Darby look like a pylon on one play in the one-on-ones Schoen works hard every play and catches the ball every play. Lawler makes things look easy. Early on it looked like Collaros was trying to work on his timing with Lawler. Nichols jumped a route and nearly picked off the pass but dropped it and I *think* Lawler ended up with it as he was lying on the ground Winston Rose matched up against Lawler a couple times. I think one time Lawler fell down and Rose got the pick. Another time Lawler backed Rose off about 10 yards and was wide open. One guy that really stands out because of his diminutive stature is #22 Dominick Fiscelli. Caught a bunch of balls in skelly in the middle of the field. 5'9" but is obviously pretty quick. Jake Kelly (canadian DB) ran pretty good with Schoen one time Kickers might have done something near the end of practice after we left...but up until that point they were just lounging around..or helping out with setting up drills for other positions. One thing I noted is that our veteran kickers are noticeably smaller than the new guys. I was hoping to get to see them in action14 points

Schoen has been beasting out here today. Pretty much uncoverable the way he uses his body and speed. It's not even just his speed, it's that he works the same way at the top of the route as the bottom. Sometimes it's like he wants the DB to run with him so that he knows when to break away.7 points

Fun seeing some of the top dbs/receivers going toe to toe in camp. Lawler,Schoen Nichols,Rose Parker and Lawrence on the other side but I've liked what I've seen from Holm so far7 points -

This is also kind of the **** I’m talking about … as per CFL aka he read the transactions page. But what’s the story behind this? Is it a paper move because they don’t want to 6-game him? Are they planning to bring him back? Is he just not in the plans? Is he retiring? Low effort. Seems like all you need to report on the CFL these days is to just browse their website and be able to say you went to a practice.6 points -

Kyrie back on the 6 game right away is concerning. Hansen too. Hope fully they will be ready early to mid camp. Adding yet another punter is an odd one.5 points

Checked out game two tonight. Seattle with the 4-2 win but it was a good game and another decent crowd. Brad Lambert looked pretty good and had a couple goals.3 points -
No way Grant is cut unless he's hurt. He's shown his value to the team time and time again. The rest I would agree with. If I knew how much everyone was making I'd be able to make a better guess of who else should be on this list.2 points

I would like to see this happen. I think they have the receivers / OL to make it work. Trestman / Calvillo proved it can be done, and done well.2 points

Actually I kind of wonder if we will run a lot of bigger protections. Especially when you have Lawler and Schoen who are likely to get open. Compliment them with Demski and have Woli and Bailey blocking or bring in an extra lineman2 points

There's no benefit to running 6 receivers unless you have a QB who you want running, and who is a running threat. Otherwise you just let the DL/blitzers tee off.2 points -

I noticed the size of the rookie kickers as well. They're all pretty built. They didn't do any kicking at the end or after practice. They would have done it beforehand. Funny that the new kickers have to wear blues jerseys due to the number of bodies in camp.(they are doubling up jersey numbers for a lot of the players) Wilson was at practice but there was no sign of Hansen. My early money on American Rb is Jordan Salima. He has nice size and seems to have good speed.2 points -

the wr we added in all these moves Braxton Westfield. 6’4 205 4.5 40 37” vert 10’7 broad jump. Red shirt on an naia title team then went down to d2 to play. Physical specimen, productive in d2 but looked open by a mile all the time could’ve used higher competition levels. Very interesting none the less.2 points

They had to eventually and the NDP were allowed to hold back 5. Apparently some of the bills weren't ready - Manitoba government accused of treating new bills as 'blank sheet of paper' after 2 of 19 released | CBC News One of the bills was bill 64 - The Education Modernization Act. It was one of the ones withheld by the NDP, then vigorously defended by the PCs, before being scrapped and eventually having many of the PC MLAs admitting it was bad legislation (likely because it was wildly unpopular). Like seriously, listen to Paul Friesen during yesterday’s press conference. Listen to the first two questions he asks - “what did you see?”, “how much did the intensity pick up with pads on?” … if you’re getting paid to attend practice and cover it, shouldn’t you have these answers already? And be asking meaningful questions based on YOUR observations? I’d like to hear somebody in the position to tell their side of things have a go at it so here we go @DTonOB2 points

One of my winter reads was Chris Hedges " American Fascists, the Christian Right and the War on America " Written in 2006 its a bit dated but still relevant. I wasn't that familiar with Domnionism and Dominionists but his 1st chapter covers it extensively. A couple of quotes: " Dominionism takes its name from Genesis 1:26 -31, in which God gives human beings " dominion" over all creation. This movement, small in number but influential, departs from traditional evangelicalism.........Dominionism seeks to redefine traditional democratic and Christian terms and concepts to fit an ideology that calls on the radical church to take political power. It shares many prominent features with classical fascist movements." " Dominionism, born out of a theology known as Christian reconstructionism, seeks to politicize faith. It has like all fascist movements, a belief in magic along with leadership adoration and a strident call for moral and physical supremecy of a master race, in this case American Christians.1 point -

Casey Sayles was excellent? Really? Maybe we've been spoiled by Nevis and Stove, but I thought Sayles and Walker were a pile of "Meh..." and am truly hoping that we find a real beast for the middle this year. We all wanted it to be the Ontario Provincial Police Cruiser, but now it sounds like he's not coming to camp, so who knows what's going to happen there...1 point

Ok... so currently, all profits from liquor sales go back into the health care system. Moving to a privatized profit driven model for liquor sales and you don't expect any loss to the health care revenue stream? Health care receives $284 million annually. MB spends approximately $212 million annually on treating alcohol related health issues. Which would net $72 million for other Healthcare spending So, you take away the $284 million revenue stream, increase the consumption of alcohol because once privatized, consumption always goes up (almost universally accepted fact through numerous studies) leading to increase in spending on the alcohol related health issues.... So... you lose $284 million, increase the cost of alcohol related care and you stand by the "pathetic than stating that allowing some private liquor sales will take millions of dollars out of health care." Statement? How? I am genuinely curious to see your math on this one.1 point -
What is the definition Christian dominionism? Dominionism is an umbrella term for certain groups of Protestants and some Catholics who interpret Genesis 1:28 in the Bible, which refers to people having dominion over life on earth, as meaning that Christians should exercise control over most aspects of modern life, Riccardi-Swartz says.1 point
