  1. Janarion Grant.... The best KR the league has seen in years.... Is gonna be a surprise cut. Good gravy.... That's quite the Stephen A Smith "Hottest Take", right there...

  5. This isn't a fair comparison though, the Bombers only got to play the Elks twice 🤣

  6. Partly, for sure. We have no fringe receiver spots available. Biggie will be getting a ton of days off. We need him fresh and ready for the season. It would be irresponsible of coaching and management to work him hard in TC. He literally has nothing to prove and why risk injury.

  7. Well- one thing you couldn’t say is CGY was in first, and certainly not by a wide margin. They also played Edmonton and the Gappers 7 times.

  8. Just got back from practice. Got there a little late, left a little early. Thought I'd write up some notes with the obvious disclaimer that I have no idea what I'm talking about. But people are hungry for Bomber stuff. So here goes. Evan Holm and Dalton Schoen are working their butts off out there. Nice to see. Holm both looks extremely athletic and technically sound. He made a play on the ball most times he lined up Brian Cole and DeJuan Cooper stand out as guys who have a physical presence but also move really well Brian Cole had an interception in skeleton Demski made Darby look like a pylon on one play in the one-on-ones Schoen works hard every play and catches the ball every play. Lawler makes things look easy. Early on it looked like Collaros was trying to work on his timing with Lawler. Nichols jumped a route and nearly picked off the pass but dropped it and I *think* Lawler ended up with it as he was lying on the ground Winston Rose matched up against Lawler a couple times. I think one time Lawler fell down and Rose got the pick. Another time Lawler backed Rose off about 10 yards and was wide open. One guy that really stands out because of his diminutive stature is #22 Dominick Fiscelli. Caught a bunch of balls in skelly in the middle of the field. 5'9" but is obviously pretty quick. Jake Kelly (canadian DB) ran pretty good with Schoen one time Kickers might have done something near the end of practice after we left...but up until that point they were just lounging around..or helping out with setting up drills for other positions. One thing I noted is that our veteran kickers are noticeably smaller than the new guys. I was hoping to get to see them in action

  9. Schoen has been beasting out here today. Pretty much uncoverable the way he uses his body and speed. It's not even just his speed, it's that he works the same way at the top of the route as the bottom. Sometimes it's like he wants the DB to run with him so that he knows when to break away.

  10. They scored 7 touchdowns off fumble recoveries and pick sixes alone, so that's where the big difference is (we only had 2). While I myself wouldn't say they struggled outside of Carey, they certainly didn't light it up through the air either. They finished with 144 points from passing plays (tied with Montreal for 4th place). That left them a whopping 120 points behind Winnipeg's 264 in that category.

This is not a normal redneck issue going on here. I can tolerate that with humor. What I can't tolerate is the more serious dangerous ugly side of some Albertans coming out of the shadows given a steady flow of oxygen and packaged as 'another viewpoint, another side'.

  22. Grant has been pretty successful with his handful of gadget plays they package for him. He's not an every down receiver though and we don't want to double duty him too much because he is such a game breaker as a returner.

  24. One of my winter reads was Chris Hedges " American Fascists, the Christian Right and the War on America " Written in 2006 its a bit dated but still relevant. I wasn't that familiar with Domnionism and Dominionists but his 1st chapter covers it extensively. A couple of quotes: " Dominionism takes its name from Genesis 1:26 -31, in which God gives human beings " dominion" over all creation. This movement, small in number but influential, departs from traditional evangelicalism.........Dominionism seeks to redefine traditional democratic and Christian terms and concepts to fit an ideology that calls on the radical church to take political power. It shares many prominent features with classical fascist movements." " Dominionism, born out of a theology known as Christian reconstructionism, seeks to politicize faith. It has like all fascist movements, a belief in magic along with leadership adoration and a strident call for moral and physical supremecy of a master race, in this case American Christians.

The least transparent government I can recall. The 19 "mystery bills" was a grossly undemocratic act and that alone, without everything else they've done, should be enough for them to lose the election by a landslide. couple of good things this morning..first, federally: then over in Alberta, where the first polling since the election officially began has now been delivered, and has the NDP up by about 10 points. Undecideds are going Orange, and (as Gerry Butts put it) many are "quiet quitting" the UCP:

  27. Honestly I don’t think any one is prepared. The league couldn’t keep the cats following the old ratio I don’t know how the league plans to enforce all this stuff with various subs and injuries. I expect some teams will cheat their face off until the league cracks down and maybe comes up with an easier way to moderate it.

  28. For sure. Biggie is a manimal. His conditioning is superb, and he will only need the last week of camp to knock the offseason rust off.

  29. I was waiting to read all the new posts in this thread before I posted this exact thing... he's a Player/Coach now. I'm sure at some point they'll need to get him some reps, just to get into the swing of things.... but it's likely more important to evaluate the new guys at this point.

  30. Calgary had a decent offence last year. Yes, they had benefit of a pretty friendly schedule that allowed them to beat up on the divisions weak sisters at the time they were the weakest. However, at the end of the day it doesn't matter how you get points, every team will do it differently based on how their roster is built. Calgary had Carey and they rode him hard....as they should have. BLM was average last year, and that is all they needed him to be. He is clearly not in the MOP conversation anymore, but he can still provide reliable QBing and does know how to win still. Will he be great for Hamilton? Doubtful. Will be bring confidence and swagger to their group. I think so. Will he fold like a lawn chair...nope. Is he good enough to lead the TiCats to a Grey Cup victory....hard to say....probably gives them a better chance than Dane Evans though.

  31. Is that because of the sheer quality of the Bombers receiving corps though? Cause that's a pretty hard group to crack.

  32. The 3rd string QB also had a high amount of QB sneaks in for TD's. Who knows on those specific drives if they made their way down the field with passing plays up until the goal line and then plunged it in. Getting back to the original point BLM isn't a guy who cracks under pressure. Nowdays that isn't even a big factor for him, physically his body has deteriorated and is a way higher liability.

  36. I think the only thing that has limited Grant getting on the field has been his ineffectiveness while doing so, not his passport.
    2 points
  37. Another thing to remember is that the bombers took their foot off the gas with a few games to go as well. No one else was resting any where near as many starters.

  38. People need to keep in mind that Grant can see the field on offence replacing a Canadian for up to 49% of the snaps.

  39. I think he means being unavailable week 1 due to injury - not cut.

  40. No way Grant is cut unless he's hurt. He's shown his value to the team time and time again. The rest I would agree with. If I knew how much everyone was making I'd be able to make a better guess of who else should be on this list.
