  1. BC just released former Bomber DE Alex McCallister who looks like a Willie clone, may be worth taking another look if they're not happy with their crop of new DE's.

  2. Did you watch the Edmonton game? They’ll be charting the kicks daily but both punters kicked the hell out of the ball and in a way that the balls were perfect for coverage. They both were remarkably consistent especially since the older guy hadn’t kicked in a game in 8 years. Liegghio will have a tough time matching what they showed last week. They’ve clearly made a decision to challenge him, and in the back of Walters mind I think he knows Liegghio is likely gone east this off-season anyways. I don’t think Liegghio is a strong enough placekicker to compete in that derby but maybe there’s a path there for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if they keep both Global punters around for the start of the season assuming one of them doesn’t get scooped. Damn near every team has a Global punter or two just hoofing the skin off the ball. Real bad development for the Canadians.

I don't normally dip my toes in these political threads not because I'm not engaged but because of how tribal these discussions are. I believe that no matter which side you are on, you should govern for all people. The "other side" isn't simply going to leave the country or go away and so we need to find middle ground and work for the betterment of society as a whole. With that out of the way ... I lean Liberal. I'm far from being a Trudeau fanboy - let me make that clear. With that said, what Poilievre did here was simply gross. It was classless. It speaks to how incredibly small he is as a man and leader. The fact there has never been any credible evidence, source, witness or corroboration around this supposed incident should speak volumes and yet the people who cite this baseless claim are the same people who would rail against "the mob" if any other person was "convicted" without proof.

Update on the twitter embeds. In the support forums for the board software, there are many other communities experiencing similar issues, though it isn't affecting everyone. The consensus seems to be that Twitter is blocking a range of IP addresses, which the server for this board got included in (anyone's guess into how they determined what those ranges would be). It is likely caught up in something similar to this. Will continue to monitor, but not much more I can do on my end at this point.

  6. I'm extremely interested in the kicking situation. I feel the incumbents don't have any particular advantage, including Castillo as an incumbent. In fact my gut feeling is that Liegghio won't be on this team...and I think some people are going to be surprised that teams aren't beating down his door to sign him up either. The global punters that came north this year are ridiculously good.

  8. PP implies the conspiracy sex scandal in the ******* House of Commons... and your defense is that no where did the cpc manufacture the conspiracy theory.... That's not the issue here... if you cant see what the actual issue is here, I don't know what to tell you. The mental pretzel you have twisted here is pretty amazing- I hope this is more of your trolling for shits and giggles and not your actual mental acumen.

  9. We're going to be surprised by the outcome of the kicking game. But there are some bigger questions in some bigger names, leaders, in this team. We can't even evaluate them because they're not practicing or practicing much. We should have some pushing Biggie this year. We should have some pushing the Jeff-Ends. We should have some pushing Wilson. I'm worried about the defensive trenches.

I'm not saying that PP fondles children but he's never been able to get a real job, so maybe it's his criminal record? It's not a conspiracy theory because it's true that he's never been able to get a job and probably cannot get security clearance. It's not a conspiracy theory if it might be true.

  14. Oliviera's readiness is one of the bigger worries for me. I mean ultimately you want the guy good to guy when the games matter most, but we sure haven't seen anyone else in the RB role look even remotely capable the past couple seasons (like from 21 training camp to now). No run game = a much higher degree of difficulty for Collaros.

So slavery should have continued in the South because the "vast majority of people" thought it was good. It's easy to govern ignorantly for the ignorant, but the arguments don't hold up when challenged with research, facts and human rights.

The dichotomous Justin Trudeau... simultaneously the most inept PM in Canadian history but also the most dictatorial. Polls don't matter right now - at all. A federal election is more than two years away. Like clockwork. Every single time.

Pollievre and all the conservatives around the country hammer on the dog whistle allllll the time. Let's them say "hey I never said that" while making it abundantly clear what they actually mean. That people actually defend it is insane. Got such a dose of it during the AB election... people need to stop letting them get away with it and ask them to be more clear.

There are not. Let's talk about Jeff Ballingall, who PeePee has hired hired to "work" for him. Jeff Ballingall of Canada Proud and all the other BSProud "groups". Conspiracies are their strategy. The non-profit news organization PressProgress has criticized the “Proud” groups for promoting false information and other conduct. In 2020, PressProgress reported how BC Proud asked its Facebook followers if the “police did the right thing” in during the incident leading to the police officer involved shooting death in New Brunswick of 26 year-old indigenous woman Chantel Moore.8 In 2020, PressProgress reported that Canada Proud was falsely claiming that the federal government had banned Remembrance Day ceremonies.9 In 2021, PressProgress reported of Canada Proud claimed that COVID-19 vaccines were being distributed according to “skin colour.”10 Like I said, best to ignore people who share and promote the conspiracies. https://www.desmog.com/canada-proud/

  32. yeh...I liked him here and fared well in his one game....was a roster issue at the time that we didnt retain him....and likely a roster issue there in B.C as they are heavy with Canadian ends there.....not cause he is not good enough...I'd bring him in immediately....and he would likely still have a good grasp on what we do, so getting up to speed would be minimum I also like what Scmidtt brings with his punting...I could see him being one of the globals and the punter out of the gate until he shows he is not performing good enough...Really hate burning a DI on a kicker but based on the gut wrenching the last 2 yrs, I cant see us going unproven at placekicker this yr....Stanton looked super smooth and legit....but.....its a different beast when the real lights come on....I as well could realistically see Leggz offered a PR spot to start the yr...will he take it is the big question?...I say he will...guess we will see in less than a week how she all shakes out

  35. I typed up a long response to this before actually reading the article and the article basically took all my points. I've been following this pretty closely and there's been some shortcuts taken along the way. I know the province has basically announced it is open season for mining, but something this potentially damaging should have all the due diligence before taking any action and that hasn't been done. Beyond the potential damage to a beautiful environment, there is the potential for damage to livelihoods and the economy as many people count on the aquifer producing plentiful amounts of clean water. Sio has also recently been announced as a sponsor for the Bombers.

  36. So ramp oilsand production up with out limits and pay no heed or penalty for output emissions, is that the goal? Some folks still voting for climate denial while the northern half of the province burns to cinders, can't make this stuff up. Look and see, AB. produces the most GHG emissions in Canada...but that's not enough, they want to produce more!

It’s difficult to say if Poilievre’s popularity will survive the rough and tumble of daily politics until the next election is called. (He declined repeated requests to be interviewed for this article.) But, whether or not he becomes prime minister, he is clearly tapping into a populist fervour that has been a major force around the world. Urban progressives are inclined to assume the governing consensus in Ottawa, which prioritizes their ideas of diversity and inclusion, will continue indefinitely. Poilievre’s rise challenges that. There are now two Canadas eyeing each other with reciprocal contempt. Researchers call this affective polarization: voters with opposing ideologies harden in their views and become less tolerant and respectful of one another. It means fewer points of compromise are possible, and debates become demonizing, resentment driven, conspiracy fuelled. A key component of authoritarian populism, this polarization is now central to our political life, and Poilievre is harnessing it. A very good article: https://thewalrus.ca/pierre-poilievre-the-secret-to-his-success/

  39. Good call. I think we're going to be getting to that point where our coaches and management need to make some tough calls on the vets to keep our success going. The right calls. When you have really good players in your lap and you let them go because of loyalty to the current players...it's possible that Staton and the two global punters are better than the incumbants

  48. The feds are doing no such thing. The deal with Germany would've been contingent on building extensive infrastructure to facilitate transportation of LNG, which both nations agreed posed numerous challenges (back in August 2022): https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/scholz-vassy-kapelos-lng-russia-gas-1.6559814 As for Japan, no deal was turned down. The wheels are in motion and infrastructure has to be built. Mitsubishi Corporation has a stake in the Kitimat LNG Terminal, set to go online in 2025: https://globalnews.ca/news/9394243/japan-pm-visit-canada-liquefied-natural-gas-needs/ Considering who Albertans just voted back into their Provincial Legislature, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that they'll just continue blaming Ottawa for their economic struggles and lap up the lies of Post Media ghouls, neither of whom can be bothered to try and understand the complexities of real life. It'll be hard to have a stable economy to benefit our nation if corporate interests continue to operate unchallenged, destroy the environment, and run away with the profits.
