Huge 2 games for the Riders, we could crush their souls over these next 2 games.

  8. Nothing against Tyrell Ford but it’s still crazy to me that Ford got an NFL opportunity but Schoen couldn’t even catch on with an NFL squad. Oh well, I’m perfectly okay with another year of dominance through the air.

In the first decade & a half of the New Millenium they beat us 10 straight years. A damned decade worth of LD games. So, how can anyone be so confident that we'll just waltz into Mosaic Stadium & win?? That's a foolish assumption no matter what the two teams records are.

  10. The Bombers did a few things that off season that would really shape the current culture that we have today. Taking the intern tag off of Walters and bringing in Danny Mac and Ted Goveia ended up being huge moves that paid off in the long term. I thought Walters getting Chris Randle and the 26th pick for the 24th pick was high way robbery. Randle was really a bright spot on some bad Bomber defences during those first couple of season of the current regime.

  12. To finish off the month the Bombers would continue to tweak both their roster and their coaching staff. They announced Gary Etcheverry as their new Defensive Coordinator, and tweaked their quarterback depth chart by releasing backup Justin Goltz and trading their 5th round draft pick in 2014 to the Tiger-Cats in exchange for QB Brian Brohm. Off-season Timeline: Winnipeg Blue Bombers - CFL.ca Oh how far we have come!

  14. Yup..I don't ..or didnt like the "kid Canada" thing as there are tons of Canadians doing great things in the CFL so that's a slap in their face...who cares what positions they play If a QB tho is to be labeled that it's def Tre Ford..born...bred...trained in Canada

The best thing in the cfl I'd a bomber win. The next best is a rider loss.... so let's make it a great weekend.

  16. Agreed, the Bombers shrugged off 2 pick-6s and an int that took a td off the board, and still cruised to a 47 point victory. But still- I am always apprehensive about the LDC.. 7-1 vs 1-7.... it's still a trigger for me.

Only history that matters is recently and well, recently they have been our bish so pretty confident that trend continues because bottom line.... the Bombers are legit and contenders, the riders are **** and pretenders Bombers are the better team. Top to Bottom. I demand 60 47 on Montreal who they say was a good D, (Fajardo = broke 4 life vs WPG) 50 on bc who they say was a good D (until we broke them again) I want 60. 60 to 6. The ghosts at this mosaic, all they know of... losing to the Bombers The ghosts at new mosaic probably wear bombers and Jets jerseys

  22. As a stupid 17 year old, I fully believed in Reinebold and "a younger mentality" after Kindly Cal's old school ways. In a lot of ways, those seasons galvanized me as a Bombers fan. So many jumped off the wagon, and I was determined to hang on. I have vivid memories of listening to the Troy Kopp game on my little CD/Radio in my BU dorm room and just screaming and yelling so loud that people came running down the hall wondering what the hell was going on. Ha ha. 2013.... the irony of a shitty defense then is that Burke circa 2011 is one of the best DC's we've ever had. Lapo even said he was the biggest FA acquisition they made going into that year and a big reason why we went to the Cup. There were dark times, and I certainly came close (as Matty Geebs alluded to, 2013 era was SO bad...) but 17to85, in one of the only times I can think of him ever being right about anything, said " You have to hang on because one day this is going to end, and when it does it's going to be all the more glorious for having gone through this ****".... damned if he wasn't right for once.

  27. 100% on that. When my wife and I turned 50 we decided to canoe from Brandon to the Forks. We took our time and did it in 12 days. From Brandon to Portage ( especially Brandon to 34 hwy) is amazing. You would ever guess you were paddling in Southern MB farming country. On the entire trip we only met one other group. Brandon to 34 is an absolute gem hidden under everyone's nose. Portage to the perimeter - meh. Perimeter to the forks - entertaining.

  28. Stubler was a great defensive mind. He had a lot of success with a number of CFL teams. I remember after Tim Burke was fired, posters here at MBB were hoping that Stubler would be our HC but I think he went to the Stamps to be their DC under John Hufnagel, I can't remember. I don't think Stubler wanted to take on the gigantic task at his age (mid 60's) to rebuild the Bombers back then. We were a terrible team at the time. As bad as it got so he went elsewhere. We ended up hiring Mike O'Shea instead. Things happen for a reason.

  30. Thank you!! I actually went as far as to mute the word Rourke on Twitter because I was so sick of hearing about him. The whole Kid Canada thing drives me nuts. He's played hardly any football in Canada and virtually all of his training is in the US. The only way this amount of drooling would be worthy is if the player was born here, raised here, and played all their ball here...graduated CIS.....THEN became a star. That would be something to talk about. Other than his birth certificate, there is almost nothing separating Nathan Rourke from any other NCAA football player.... Tre Ford ...an actual CIS QB that played all his football here.... Should be getting hype as a starting QB in pro football. **** the Rourke's.

  31. The cfl mouthpieces who get the most coverage seem to think that what the league needs is a Canadian star qb story. Guys like Alex singleton deserve all the news and hype the rourkes have gotten.

  35. https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/leaders... significantly better than cfl.ca Your memory is typically impeccable for these sort of thing so I hesitate to question you... but I believe O'Shea had Stubler tapped to be the DC... then he chose Calgary instead... leading to the hiring of Etchevarry.

  36. Just speculating, I’d imagine the Lions would want the fan and media interest of having another Canadian/Rourke at QB. Older Rourke was kind of the catalyst for their attendance turnaround. Also, the kid is really fing good.

Tre Ford making some buzz in the second half of the season can only be good. And there's no reason they can't pull ahead of any of the 3-win teams for a cross-over spot, as silly as that would have sounded a few weeks ago.

  42. Interesting note from Our Man Tait (and always I encourage you to head to BB.com and read all the pieces in full) in the latest edition of Upon Further Review: "AND, FINALLY… there was some confusion Thursday as to the capacity at IG Field and whether the announced crowd of 32,343. Some background: when the building first opened capacity was listed at 33,500. Sellouts last year when the club led the CFL in attendance for the first time in franchise history were listed at 33,234. The new capacity is 32,343 with the further expansion of the party decks and the removal of flex seating to improve the fan experience. Thursday’s crowd was the first sellout of the season and the third attendance total to eclipse the 30,000 mark. The next two home dates include the Banjo Bowl vs. the Saskatchewan Roughriders on September 9th – that game is already sold out – plus a visit from the Toronto Argonauts and the return of Andrew Harris on September 29th. The Edmonton Elks round out the regular season schedule on October 21."

I’d love to see the riders pushed out of the play off picture. This two game stand could be a big step towards that. I can not imagine us coming out flat in either game, or them having a big come back. I expect dominance.

    The RIP 2023 Thread

Nope, ECW was first for most of those guys, then they went to WCW. Benoit did work for WCW for a couple months in 1993 before going to ECW in 1994 while Kidman never worked ECW. Benoit, Eddie and Malenko all jumped to WCW at the same time in 1995. Psicosis came/left ECW later that same year. Rey was ECW late 95 to early 96. Jericho & Juventud were both in ECW in 1996. WCW didn't do much with their smaller guys until mid-1996 when Bischoff saw what ECW was doing. He changed the name from the WCW light heavyweight weight division to the cruiserweight division and started signing those guys away. Prior to that, their light heavyweight title had been inactive since 1992. WWE was no different, it wasn't until others had success with guys who weren't the huge guys we were used to seeing, that they realized there was money to be made there.
